Official Fable II Thread

Just finished the game. Loved it. Got so absorbed with real estate too :lol, even with my low rent rates (usually -20%) I was still racking in about 14, 15k every 5 minutes. Bought me a
castle
at the end and got the 2.5 mil Title. Now for doll hunting. A guy online randomly gifted me three of 'em. All I need now is Teresa and Reaver
..f*ck Reaver :|
. :D

What castle ?

One thing that bugs me (just a tiny bit) is that the "A" button both cancels out of the various menus and such, and also shoots out your magic. So there's been times where I've tried to cancel out of a convo or expression or whatever and accidentally set fire to the shop instead. :lol

You must mean B, and yes, I kept doing that. My solution was to stop using magic except Time Control.

so, is the consensus that this is the greatest RPG in this generation?

I don't know about that. Before this game, Mass Effect was my favorite RPG of this gen. Fable II definitely gets the details (sidequests and such) better, but the main quest in Mass Effect felt a lot more interesting in terms of actually playing the game.

I say that mostly because all the main quests involved going into caves (or another dark area) for a majority of the time, and I'm sick of stinking caves (or the sci-fi equivalent: labs). I expected a little more variety in that regards.

Also, why are the main quests in games so short all of a sudden?

It's the most fun I've had at least. Fallout 3 will probably win greatest RPG. Mass Effect could've easily taken the title if the side planets weren't all exactly the same...

Lol, no! Seriously, I wouldn't expect too much out of Fallout 3.

Sorry for the shitty quality but wtf :lol :lol.

Are you 100% good and 100% Corrupt?

i am about 15 hours into the game i think. and so far, this is shaping up tot be the rpg of the gen right next to mass effect. i was expecting a decent game like the first one but it far exceeded it. i think what's going to give this the edge over fallout 3 is the easy pick up and play. you can turn it on mess around and turn it off.

but you never know, i'm hoping fallout delivers, and has a decent third person cam. that is my only gripe with bethesda, they need to fix their 3rd person.

In terms of the actual narrative I agree, I was much more excited to get through the Mass Effect main story. It made you feel totally invaluable to the universe, but I think Fable 2 does what Mass Effect couldn't in terms of actually making your decisions mean something, both in terms of threatening you with things you care about like XP and character appearance, and then changing the world around your actions.

Bioware could learn a hell of a lot of good things for ME2 if they are paying attention.

If I could only play 1 again it would be Fable 2 just because playing through it a different way isn't just saying different things or fighting in a different way, you actually end up in a completely different world.

Production costs. More levels means more assets, more voice work, more scripts, more level design, more time, more $$$$$$.

The thing about main quests being short is, that usually works. Most people don't finish long games, so a shorter main quest that's got less filler will be a better experience, and more people will get to the end of it.

Side quests, minigames, exploration, and unlockables can flesh out the game just fine if done well, like in Fable 2.

I really wish they had good maps in the game. I hit select at the start expecting one, and nadda. The ones in the menu aren't good at all.

i think it's more than just the cost. i think it's an accessibility thing too. there's so many good games that i think making the game too long comes at the risk of people passing it up. in the case of fable the main quest is pretty short but there's still plenty of additional content to add hours, if someone feels inclined.

I must say, the voice work in Fable 2 is incredible, especially in contrast to Far Cry 2.

There's so much dialogue, too. It's ridiculous, in a good way. I think I remember one of the Lionhead guys saying they recorded 36 hours of dialogue, and so far, I believe that. Very little repetition (except for the occasional glitch). It's fun to just stand near certain townspeople and hear what they have to say.

Yeah this is one of the few things about this game that disappoint me.

You know what's amazing about this game, though? NONE of the locations are repetitive. Every place I've gone to looks different. Even the small caves and shit. Very impressive stuff.
Take note, BioWare.

Fable II is, so far, the best RPG experience on the Xbox 360.

Ubisoft probably recorded 1 hour of dialogue, given how fast everyone speaks :lol

I don't even care about the way the menu is set up, the thing that bugs me more is that the menus are kind of sluggish. There's some loading going on, and it's not instantly opening up my selections. Then going back into the game, there's a slight loading lag as well.

Yeah. Kind of annoying. I wonder if, when the New Xbox Experience comes out, you can install Fable II and solve the loading issues through that?

the only thing that dissapoints me too.

I found a glitch with the
shooting range in westcliff
and it left the score and and target on my screen hours after doing it. After reloading my game it was gone, just sorta of a freak glitch.

Yea I hate that, but once we can install the game on the HDD I'm assuming that will be a non-issue (assuming we can do that once the new XBL is out)

I think it's good. I've gotten used to it though, but at the beginning, fable 2 sounded like people just speaking into the mic at full volume.

I thought Vesperia and mass effect had really great voice acting,
with Infinite Undiscovery having the worst.
FF12 had incredible voice acting, but that was last-gen.

Voice acting note: Do any of you think that the kid in Bowerstone that keeps saying
"you can't catch me!" is the same VA that did the voice acting for Vic in Infinite Undiscovery?
I swear they sound the same.

thats all i want. I wish the dashboard update was out now so I could do it now because once it does hit, i will probably not be on fable 2 anymore :(. I am already skipping fallout 3 this week because i need to finish pure, dead space, far cry 2, and fable 2 first before i start that for sure.

More on my evil problems....

My "Highest evil reached" stat is 3171 and no matter what I do it wont go any higher. I can kill anyone I like and it's not changing. Oddly enough my "Highest good reached" is 2165 which was enough for being 100% good for ages.

What's going on? :(

[Edit - What the hell? My halo just came back, and it's stronger and brighter than ever! I'm 90% evil with a halo ffs. :lol ]

The million-gold one. Only needed one more doll (and I was totally wrong about the two I was looking for; I had both:lol ), and someone gave it to me a little while ago.

Ok... I just accidentally killed some random passer by and I'm suddenly 100% evil, but with a halo, and I'm still at 3171 max evil.

lol, this game is so broken.

I wish my game wasnt bugged so i can enjoy it even more. Its a harmless bug for the most part (cant buy furniture) but it really hurts the immersion of the game knowing its broken.

Question about the ending:

In the new OXM mag, it says there are three endings. Looking at the achievements it looks like it's something about The Needs of Many, The Needs of Few, and the Needs of One. Without giving away details, is it possible to get all three endings without having to play through the game 3 times. Is there a way to keep multiple saves? Is the choice to determing the ending right at the end of the game?

Yeap, just make good use of save files. Its at the very end.

Your 100% Evil but you have the Halo from being 100% Pure. Whats broke? I dont get it..

Just reached Bloodstone last night. I've put about 20 hours in so far (estimated since I haven't actually looked). I love running the crucible, lots of xp there.

anyone else having this issue?

there is a 50% off sale at the Bowerstone Blacksmith..but when I travel there, the store owner is nowhere to be found. I've tried all different times of day, as well as different days, but the guy won't show up. I haven't stolen from him, or killed him, etc.

Any ideas of how to make the blacksmith appear?

I have the same exact issue with the Gypsie Trader, and it's during a sale as well (one of the ones where he needs stock and will buy stuff at a high price). I've tried going back at different times of the day but I can't find him. I just figured I must've killed that fool and forgotten about it. :lol

I wonder if you can find him at his house. I believe he lives just past the bookstore down a street on the left. Break into his house and ask him what fuck bro?

I ran into that problem at Fiction Burns. The door was always locked (during regular business hours). I just wandered around and finally found the owner. Pissed me off tho.

Great point, people mention about the loss of life issue and it bothers me a lot more to have a permament scar than having to just restart at a save point, I think they nailed this issue.

Also I would find myself doing small things, like checking in on my family or checking out how the landscape is changing over time.

All in all Fable II went from a game I was not purchasing a week ago to probably my favorite game this generation.

Good job Peter

so just played for about 3 hours doing side missions. took a side mission to free the slaves and when went from one path to another and the load screen tried to pop up it went to a black screen and froze.

that sucks. hopefully i did something that triggered an auto save not to far back because otherwise redoing 3 hours of junk is just plain ass.
