Daw make sure you put the brightness and contrast of your new plasma to about half for the first week or so. If you can also leave it running on something like Discovery HD (when you're not using it) where content takes up the whole screen so you can age in the phosphors.

Had a panasonic plasma for 2 years and the picture killed my LED. For that first week or so just make sure to do the above and you'll be straight.
