It shouldn't. I know there's an option you can click to have it done automatically.

just finishing up last weeks boardwalk on hbogo since my directv receiver sometimes doesn't record the new episodes. not sure why, i've tried re-setting the recording but for some reason it doesn't always do it!

Just happens at random times with me. Checked at the start of the season, come back today and wanted to see what the XP was like after two practice & preseason games and it was gone. Whatever, as long as it's being applied, it's going somewhere.
The majority of its audience has probably never read the comic, or even know that it came from a comic.
The comic got pretty bad around the point where they're at on the show anyhow. Much like Game of Thrones there is a point where they will best served getting as far away from the source material as possible.
