Official Metal Gear Solid 4 TGS Thread

I don't care if I get flamed, but technically this game is disappointing. Nearly every other PS3 game shown today looks better than MGS4. WTF?

The animation and screens disappoint me, but the trailer looked great. My biggest problem was that I just didn't see much interesting from the gameplay yet, not many soldiers on screen, no destruction of the enviroment shown. Still my most antipated game, but hopefully the E3 showing will be more impressive.

Well, Kojima said the game is still at least a year off.

Can't say that for the majority of games shown for PS3.

At this stage, I think it still looks amazing.

a lot of those background textures have got to be placeholders. trailer looks awesome, anyway -- kojima's probably just ****ing with us, but it's cool to see an mgs4 version of a younger snake.

I think this was the shortest gameplay trailer we have recieved yet too since maybe the first MGS game. Than again this is the first time we were managed to be shown around 3 trailers worth of a Metal Gear Solid game...even before the console has even launched!

I'm blown away :O for those that say that these graphics aren't good, you have sincerely, got to be shitting me, what the hell are you expecting? It looks up to par as any other next-gen game does.

Now, the animation does need fixing, not going to deny but Solid Snake and MKII animate incredibly well, I'm just not happy with the enemies animation.

Overall, I'm so happy and this game looks to be incredible. I would like to see more soldiers on screen though and some more destruction but meh, can't complain, they're still working hard on it.

Until the next direct feed video is released.

Well it does make more sense that it's a SH5 hint because

A) He doesn't look like Snake.
B) He looks just like the actor from SH the movie.
C) That scene didn't look to have anything to do with the rest of the game at all.

Like I said earlier Sean is Kojima choice for Snake. When he first announced the movie in a magazine he said he wanted the guy from LoTR to play Snake, and the mag asked if he meant Sean Bean and he said yah that was him.

I thought he said Viggo Mortensen aka Aragorn from LoTR.

I second Otacon... that's the first thing that came to my mind.

We have been told before that he would be close to Snake...

Which means Snake will die, Kojima is out, Otacon will take over any spin-off games

I'm a little disappointed, honestly. I still think the game looks great but I don't know, it just hasn't wowed me like some other PS3 games have tonight.

???

It looks 10x better than most PS3 games shown tonight.

This is really an amazing trailer, but isn't koijima like, normally he shows many villains in his mgs trailers.

The trailer showed nothing but a villain.

Snake is the TRUE villain!
:)

I also like that main theme (I think it's the main theme) is an accoustic version, normally the ps2 metal gears always have "hans zimmer" like main themes.

It's not Snake at the end, it's Otacon.

Nope not Otacon, different hair, and different facial structure. Just look a few pages back, there's a comparison with the Plisken model and it matches it.

Just saw the direct-feed trailer and it's really good. I LOVE the music, I liked that a lot in MGS2. I wish he wouldn't have used different camera angels than the ingame camera, makes it seem like a cutscene trailer when infact it isn't. The crapping was really good, reminded me of the golden shower in MGS2 :lol :lol (that was such a big WTF moment for me :lol :lol )

i don't know. That video was kinda disappointing. It looks like they are re-using a lot of last gen animation, and the models for the enemies weren't as detailed as i was expecting. still if its really a year away i guess they could upgrade a lot of that.

The lighting took a hit or something...they should bump up the contrast a bit.
Geometry and texture detail seems sparse as well. The enemies appear to be completely taken from the old game - that would explain their old animations as well. They need to redo the model/skeletton to achieve higher animation detail. And a few more polygons certainly wouldn't hurt them either.

The people bitching about the textures and those defending it are all a sham. When's the last time you played a Metal Gear Solid game for its graphics?

Graphics do not live up to the trailer at all, but that's ok because I wasn't expecting them to, they look absolutly brilliant though!

Don't judge it compared to the old trailer, judge it compared to the other PS3 and 360 games coming out and you'll see that it still stands at the top of the league. It's good that we're finally seeing gameplay footage now, looks fun! can't wait to try out the new camo and the barrel rolling! (Who needs a cardboard box when you've got a metal container!)
