Ok Ive been off the gaming forum for way too long, Ive completely lost track of everything thats been ahppening in the gaming industry. I just watched the TGS trailer. Its ****ing brilliant. The graphics are brilliant, they look stunning. My only complaint is that the animation didnt look as smooth as i hoped it would, but I know that Jokima will fix it. The game wont be out for another year so kojima has more than enough time to make it right.

We didnt get to see too much of the gameplay, but from we did get to see it looks very good. The octacam suit is perfect. having the different camoflagues in MGS3 really added something to the gameplay, but it was annoying to have to keep changing it. Now we dont have to change it so that is very good. The rolling over when you are crawling looks like it will be very useful too. Snake rolling in the barrel was funny, thats going to be something that will be fun to do.

The one thing Im really confused about is seeing young snake at the end of that trailer. is that just a mask or is there some big shocking twist that we will be able to play as young snake?

Hey hey I do agree with anyone here. What I'm saysing is that I think Kojima basically ****ed up the schedule of his unveiling and to the uninformed or untrusty gamer MGS4 may seem to be going downhill trailer after trailer, losing bulletpoint features down the road. I know that's not the case, game still more than 1 yr off etcetera, but this is how Kojima is making it look like with this videos. He should be a tad bit more cautious about what he shows. He should ADD to previous showings. Not remove (ie. destructible environments) and add something else (octocamo).
I completely agree with TTP here. Traditionally we'd see about 3 trailers before the game is released, I think Kojima came out way too early with the first TGS trailer, by the time we saw the second trailer there was a complete readjustment in visuals. By TGS we'd seen three trailers and clamoring to him for some gameplay. From what we've seen the gameplay just doesn't seem to be up to the point expected, and that's simply because they're showing stuff too early.

Oh well, in the end, just more crow to eat.

Kojima talks radar:

Release: Ende 2007 (Japan)

Babelfish got me this:

Hideo Kojima of Konamis Kojima Productions has itself in the Famitsu over the new radar in Metal Gear solvent 4: Guns OF the Patriots expressed. The radar is completely revised and would have nearly nothing more with in older episodes to do. One could actually also not call it therefore more radar: Thus it registers in a building persons, who a floor under Snake are. Release: At the end of of 2007 (Japan)

So it works only in buildings?

Can someone translate? It's also in the new famitsu.

I don't think it will only work in buildings, the german text actually says:

The radar is completely revised and has nothing to do with the ones in the previous installments (mgs, mgs2 etc.)

You actually can't call it a radar anymore: It will even* detect people in buildings who are one floor beneath you.
------------
*In German: "selbst"
It says "it will even".
It's giving a example how different it is compared to the radar in the previous MGS games.

I guess this is the best version of the MGS4 TGS 2006 trailer you'll get
before the DF 720p version hits the web.

720p.
very nice camera position.
sound, lots of crowd noise, but you can hear the music and it's less
distorted than the ruliweb one.

You can see lots of details in this one, you can actually see Snake's face move behind his mask. And this one has the young Snake part in it.
Looks very good, nothing like the pics released.
Check it out here

I know he's not in the credits (which is worrying), but has there been any word on whether or not Norihiko Hibino is also returning to compose music for MGS4? =/

I think he's not coming back for mgs4.
He's probably replaced by Nobuko Toda, who also worked on mgs3.

Did Kojima say anything about the animations? They look pretty horrible and PSOne'ish....

Also what happened to all the dust flying in the air and the APC's they showed in the original trailer? Also the German gameshow trailer had very nice spark effects and such, they seem to be missing as well :\

Overall, this is probably the worst MGS trailer yet and LP does look better than this

Yeah MGS4 looks to be the worst looking game on all next and new gen consoles. I think even the Wii could do better.

no comment

Sorry but Kojima diddn't deliver. He said they were going to focus on animations and it has been one freaking year since they showed the original trailer and this is what they have accomplised.

I agree with you on that. The animation of the soldiers (and only the soldiers) is bad. MKII and the Gekko though have incredible animations which you seem to ignore. As for dust and newspaper thery're right there in front of you in the trailer. As for the rest of your comments they -how can I put it- don't worth a reply.

The MKII scene was just a jab at Splinter Cell, Sam carriers a gun that electrocutes soldiers in the same fashion. I doubt it will be in the final game. But the Gekko animations look straight out of cutscenese, that was great.

What's all this about Kojima not delivering? We haven't even seen too much from the game, it's still over a year off... yeah, you guys really need to stop jumping to conclusions. It's premature at this point. Who complains about unfinished products? You don't think animations can be fixed in a year's worth of development time? It's a MGS title. It'll be one of the most polished and well-reviewed games of next year, if it makes 2007. If you want to mark my words, I don't mind that a bit.

ok guys i am huge mgs fan, and i think some of the soldiers and snake animation didnt move from mgs2, i am sure it will be great game and i cant wait to play it, but have to admit that the trailers so far wasnt jawdropping like old mgs2 trailers!!! i expect same from these, because this is nextgen console after all, but it didnt happaned ...
anyway game will be great!! :)

Funny thing: if you pay attention to the trailer, the arab soldiers actually animate better than the PMC soldiers, especially the scared guy running away at the end.

Also, I'm replaying subsistence and I don't notice the soldiers animating as badly as the PMC guys in the trailer. Are those animations really from MGS2? :lol

Anyway, I'd EXPECT the animation to resemble the PMC soldiers in the 'young snake' clip at the end. I mean, this is Kojima Productions we're talking about!

Yeah, I hope when Kojima's ready to show his cards next year, we'll be picking our jaws off the floor.

Metal Gear game rock! I was just disappointed that it looked so early and unfinished compared to the cut scenes. Anyway my expectations are low now, I hope Kojima delivers a fantastic E3 demo

Actually there are a lot of reasons. Konami doesn't seem to be committed to next gen. MGS4 is the only good next gen game Konami has shown and the gameplay segments aren't looking good.

Another thing is the lead programmer who did MGS1, 2, 3 and even ZOE2 isn't the lead programmer for MGS4.

Capcom made a lot of headway in one year but Konami seems to be struggling...we will see what happens though

For a lot of Japanese publishers next gen doesn't start until PS3 is out so saying that they're not committed before PS3 is even released is a little premature.

I would expect Konami to make a plethora of next gen announcements in 2007.

How are the gameplay segments not looking good. For one the game seems to play like other MGS games meaning it will have some of the best gameplay ever.

The new additions just add on to that base. The camo system is amazing, can you imagine the amount of ways you can use it. The whole war aspect is also new, you are now in a living battlefield, its not just you against everyone. Snakes new moves will help greatly in this type of setting. You are telling me facing off against huge Metal Gears that hunt you down is not exciting.

There is nothing but good stuff in that trailer.

Honeslty dude the horrible animation just kills everything for me. The rest can be explaning because the game is early but there is no freaking excuse for the horrible PSOne type animation

Ok, that is a fair point. Still I don't see that vastly affecting gameplay.

Dont understand how you can say that Konami isnt commited to Next gen when they are focusing like crazy on MGS4.

MGS IS Konami!
everything else they develope is not important, exept ZOE! :D

Silent Hill and Suikoden aren't important?

I just noticed this in some other thread that a pic was posted in, but Holy Anthropomorphic Metal Gear Batman! That one Snake faces off with in the trailer has some serious curves.

Guys you don't get MGS4 will ship witht that animation. There's no way Kojima will fix it before the game is out.
