Okay, when are the Braves gonna DFA Reitsma. In 1/3 of an inning, he's given up 5 runs on 6 hits. And now he's loaded the bases again with 2 outs.

WOW @ Oakland. My buddy who is a huge A's fan told me on friday that the A's would sweep the series against the Yanks. I didn't believe him. =\

It's June. Ph33r.

What I want to know is how Zito managed to go 7 innings when he walked 7 batters. That's a lot of pitches...

:Sigh

What a terrible time to have everyone in the bullpen fall flat on their faces while on the mound. =\

I predict Broxton will be in their until he either gives up 3-4 runs or loads the bases. :lol

Good lawd, our lineup for game two of the double header is sooooo bad. We even have an offday tomorrow. If we win this game with the B team and Pauley on the mound it will be a miracle.

Congrats! Sweeping the Yankees fills me with pride, regardless of who does it.

While not as impressive, looks like we'll be sweeping the Angels today.

... and we will be sweeping a 4-game series from Arizona.

N.Y. Mets - 7
D-Backs -- 0
Top 4

Last 8 games in Arizona:

New York Mets - 78 runs
Diamondbacks - 14 runs (thru 4 innings)

Philly and Atlanta both lost. I predict we may be running away with it by June 21st.

WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Denys Baez and Takashi Saito for not sucking ass today! I wasnt exactly sure what Little was doing in the top of the 9th but it worked thanks to Saenz, R. Martin and Sandy Alomar Jr. I hope Joel Guzman gets sent back down to the minors when Kent comes off the D.L, he doesnt seem to be ready. Ethier, Kemp and R. Martinez need to stay in the bigs for now. I am a bit worried that Drew wasnt in the lineup, hope he aint hurtin to much.

EDIT: Good to see Cody Ross off the D.L and playing well for the Marlins.

I went to see the Blue Jays vs Detroit game today and sadly the Jays lost 5-10.

Their were some really really nice home runs this game. Especially the two in a row that happened at one point.

I'm really ticked at the first and second base umps who called a couple of guys who where clearly out safe. Those contraversal calls where really what allowed Detroit to pull ahead and cost the Jays the game.

While I'm disapointed that the home team lost all in all it was a fun experince and it was really nice to sit as close as I did (near the front behind home) for the first time in memory.

They had balls flying all over the place into the stands. Man I wish they could have sent one my way. I NEVER get one of those *cries*

I'm telling you fellow Mets fans, I almost would like Arizona to plunk a Mets' batter here. A nice fight would bring the Mets together and impose our will that these Mets are about '86 attitude, '06 talent. Can you not see Carlos Delgado hitting Chad Tracy with the Rock Bottom, Cliff Floyd puts Luis Gonzalez with a Stone Cold Stunner, David Wright plasters Craig Counsell with a Pedigree and Pedro, incensed at Brandon Webb for pitching him to a ND last time, hits the youngster with teh Unusually Long Fingers of Doom attack. :lol

Welcome to the sports thread. I'm happy you enjoyed the game even though your team lost. Really, those are some of the best games to watch.

What show is your avi from? Also the powers that be do not always take kindly to those of us sporting the Japanese anime avis.

Why Reds, why???? Why get swept by the Cubs? Why play when it counts, against teams like Houston and St. Louis, but blow the easy games??? Watch... they'll struggle against the brewers, and probably sweep the Chi-Sox.

Thanks for the welcome. I don't usually watch games on tv or read about them in the paper much but I really love to go see them live when I get the chance, espcially since I love watching the Jays mascot in action.

It's funny that as a kid I didn't realize it was just a guy in a suit which made him all the more special back then. Of course his costume has been redesinged since then but he's still a badass (or at least seems like one from the videos they showed on the Jumpotron)

I don't actually live in Toronto but the Jays are the closest thing that I have to a home team so I always root for them. It's too bad that strike happened a few years ago becuse they haven't won the world series sense.

My avi is from Angelic layer by clamp. Honestly I don't know why the powers that be give a frig about what are avatars are as long as they fallow the basic size rules and are unoffenseive (no nudity and such). Besides anime and games practiclly go together since so many video games are made in japan and have an obvious anime influence such as .hack which your avi is from.

FYI, not a sweep, just 3-4, but still laughable. Cubs are turning it on! WOO! I CAN FEEL IT! PRIOR AND LEE BACK SOON! OMFG!!!

Yeah, but in all seriousness? I'm just glad to see the Cubs score in a game. At all.

I don't think teams wanna start throwing at the Mets. Pedro wouldn't stand for that shit.:D

The Blue Jays bullpen is a piece of ****ing crap, God ****ing damn do they ****ing suck so bad it sickens me. How can one of the better bullpen last year turn into such a big ****ing joke this year. I mean its the same god damn bullpen but this time we finally got a competent closer. Walker is shit, Chulk is the biggest piece of crap I have seen, Frasor is the most inconsistent ****er I have ever seen, Rosario started off good but now is sucking but I will lay off of him as he is young, Speier started off good but now sucks but he probably is tired from overuse, and Downs is inconsistent. And Gibbons needs to get it through his thich skull that Schoenweis should only be used against ****ing leftys, he is a mother****ing left handed specialist, what the hell doesn't Gibbons understand about that. He ****ing sucks against against rightys, stop using him against rightys.

I hope Gibbons has learned a ****ing lesson from this. Stop taking the ****ing starters out early. Jesus ****ing Christ its the same ****ing story over again, he takes out the ****ing starter early and the bullpen ****ing sucks the rest of the way. Taubenheim only had thrown 87 pitches, I don't care if he is struggling no way he would have let in as many runs as the ****ing bullpen.

Oh well, atleast we didn't lose much ground. Hopefully we can win tommorrow, it is Janssen vs. Benson part 4. Benson dominated us the first two times but we got him the third time so I guess we should have Benson all figured out, hopefully Janssen can continue to pitch well.

Oh and Towers was called up today, what a joke of a rotation our pitching has become:

Halladay - Legit and awesome #1
Janssen - yes a rookie is our #2
Lilly - dr jekyll and mr. hyde, mostly mr. hyde though :(
Taubenheim - not bad, not good either
Towers - 1 - 8, need I say more

You sure do cuss alot.

I imagine I would die of some sort of anger related death if I was a fan of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

And I think Adams has been called up, kinda weird that he would be after Alfonzos best game of the year.

Stay calm! This can be the 4:30-6:30 am Toronto support group. Take solace in the fact that we lost to one of this year's biggest turnaround teams, and we didn't lose much ground. If the Jays play poorly against the lowly O's...then yeah, I'll start asterixing like an obelix as well.

more youth help might be on the way for the yankees

steven white, SP (4-1, 2.11 era) and tj beam, RP (4-0, 0.86 era) were promoted to AAA recently. in AA they combined for 110 innings without giving up a homerun.

Hey they Jays played a pretty good game on Sunday with some Amazing home runs! If it wasn't for some really stupid Base umps the game would have been alot closer.

Anyone know how well the Blue Jays today? Or has that game not started yet?

Game starts today at 7:07 pm, its on Rogers Sportsnet if your interested.

Casey makes a mistake, 2 - 1 Orioles now, stupid blind 1st base umpire giving Patterson an infield single when he was out.

Jannsen gives up 3 straight singles, a hit batsmen, and then another two singles. Weak.

Its been a bad week, I am going to be drinking tonight.

Wait, Rios two run homer, 5 - 3, there is hope.

At the very least Burnett had a good rehab start, 67 pitches 0 hits 1 BB 7 SO 5 IP and most importantly no pain in his elbow.

That really sucks for Harden. I like him a lot, and he has some nasty stuff.

I am so glad I picked up Rios in the GAF league after somebody dumped him. Looks like I was a year off on Rios' breaking out--he's having a monster year.

God damnit Tampa Bay, you ****ing bunch of losers.

Ah well. Contreras won his White Sox record 15th straight decision :)
Hasn't lost since mid-August last year

"I don't give a damn if guys in here have confidence in me," Benitez said. "I know what I can do. You don't respect me, it's a big mistake — a big mistake. Because I've been in the playoffs more than anybody here. I've (played for) better teams than this.

"I'll bet (if) you send me to another team, I'd be better. Other teams know what I can do."

Remember '97 Armando? :lol :lol

What an ass.

I have a fantasy baseball query.

He has Soriano, I want him, he wants my Roy Oswalt.

My pitching staff:

Oswalt
Liriano
Randy Johnson
K. Millwood
CC Sabathia
Nate Robertson
Bobby Jenks
Huston Street
G Maddux
E Santana
A Harang

My hitters are:

Posada
Dunn
Tejada
Figgins
Ensberg
Podsednik
Beltran
Abreu
Konerko
Hunter

What to do? :/

I don't think I have strong enough pitching to make the trade, what say you, GAF?

I'd try Maddux and Harang for him(Maddux has been falling since his 5-0 start, and Harang just isn't that good)...but you really don't need any outfielders. Unless Soriano can be played at a position other than OF, I wouldn't do it.

Or if he is set on Roy O, even though he is on the DL at the moment, try a combo of Oswalt and Hunter for Soriano and someone else. Hunter isn't having a good year and will probably be traded, so you might be able to get a good deal on another hitter/pitcher depending on how much the guy knows about Torii.

Hrm, good ideas. But wouldn't Harang (who actually has more fantasy points than Roy O at this point) be more worth it because of the offense he has backing him?
