We have the funds (as do the Red Sox, Angels, Mets, Dodgers, etc) to do this kinda thing and experiment. We have no fifth starter. Look at who has started in that slot: Aaron Small, Shawn Chacon, KRIS WILSON, and maybe someone else I can't remember.

We need a fifth starter...and I believe Ponson is better than all three of those that I listed. Although perhaps not by much and perhaps he won't be better if Chacon can shape up.
