Did they ever combine for 20 blown saves by 7/14?

Don't think so.

But a few years back Benitez was a dog in September. Every time the Mets faced the Braves that month he would be giving up bombs to Brian Jordan and Chipper that single handedly killed our hopes for the wild card.

But no I don't think we had a bullpen this bad. Maybe the mid 90's when we were rebuilding but I can't remember anymore.

LaRoach(I know I have his name wrong, damn) gave the Bravos the lead. The Braves are a scoring machine right now, wow.

Armando Benitez never forget

Well, 6 of those came in three games. I also think there were a few that happened before the 9th inning. So, its probably somewhere along the line of 13-15 blown saves in the 9th.......of which I think they've won about 5 or 6. In other words, its been a difference out about 9 games.

LAROCHE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

****ing bastard.:lol

That series ****ing hurts more you know man.
*And* winning the title at Shea was just awful.

Oh, I understand. If the Sox ever lost to the Cubs in the World Series, I honestly don't know how I'd live with myself.

I just take pleasure in pointing out heartbreaking losses to people that aren't me =p

I try to be cool about it because bitterness won't help any. If anything though its Benitez that I blame, not the yanks. They were a great team, that core were money back in the 90's.
Still fun to see both teams go at it too-if they should meet in another fall classic we had better win this time though.:D

I hope you don't have to see the Cubies winning it all on your home field. The feeling is one of shock and total frustration, though nowdays its easy to look back and laugh since time heals, some anyways.

Game tied again. There's no way I'm sleeping tonight, not with this game on.

well, if it will make you feel any better i cant get over the 1995 ALDS loss to the mariners 'cause that was mattingly's last game and he battled.
ugh, to this day there were so many ways the game could have been won. if mattingly's double hadnt bounced into the stands in teh sixth inning, if mariano had been brought in sooner in the eight ( buck didnt know how good he was though)
if the ****ing umpire had called joey cora out when he bunted in the 11th and clearly stteped out of the line....*sigh*
edit: OH COME ON!! THAT'S OUT ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

Yeah I know it sucks......not every team has $42 million to throw at 32 year old post-TJ surgery closers......

Actually its 43 million. And we were able to do so because we let some of our expensive contracts walk. And he's been much better than the shit we had in the past,so the money is justified when you consider the market he is now playing in.:)

Yeah, its always nice when your rival's owner is subsidizing your new cable network.

I think I remember that game, not sure. Thats the one where the Mariners and Yanks went extra innings because Cone gave up a homer to of all people Joey Cora, right? A friend and I were on our way to a concert hearing it on the radio,we were actually considering staying in the car and going in late because I was and still am a huge David Cone fanatic. Looking back now I wish I would have stayed and watched the game at home since the concert wound up being half ass.:(

steingrabber is doing what? you serious? huh. dont think i like that.

No, I'm talking about Time Warner. They are subsizing part of the Mets' cable network at the same time they are cutting the Braves payroll.

Nah......no conflict of interest there.

naw, he didnt give up a homer to cora. it was to jay buhner and he was nursing a 4-2 lead.
he walked doug strange to tie the game in the eight (after he threw an insane 147 pitches) in the 11th jack mcdowell gave up the game winning double to griffey.

Didn't know that. Well maybe the Braves can do the same someday. With the mets doing it..well its the Big Apple afterall, you have to do things differently in different markets. I'm sure the Braves would do the same given the opportunity.

that's awful, and is it true we wont see any more braves games on TBS after 2008?
edit: double play saves them but this bullpen is incapable of throwing strikes.
