Well, as fun as it is to make fun of him, I do really believe that he's a great pitcher and he is gonna be scary good in the future.

The AL East is NOT the NL East, though, and he's going through the adjustment period. If he can pull through it, I have no doubt boston will have an anchor for many years to come. As is, though, he'll own the slop of the league and just get embarrased by the better teams.

You know it's a good series for the Yankees when one of you is this nice to a Boston fan. Or maybe that was Balthier talking.

TIGER MORPH!!!1 *mauls fifty*

I've always considered myself a very civil fan and I have no issues with the Red Sox. They just happen to stand in the way of the Yankees. :D

Titty jesus on a stick in your face.

OVER FOR BOSTON? SEEMS SO. WOW JUST WOW.

and is it me or does fox's hd camera suck?

It's horrible. It's not HD and I don't know why they pretend it is.

According to an unofficial source (Tommy Glavine's brother in law) he has a blood clot in his arm, is having season ending surgery, and his career is in jeopardy.

Stop posting Mets news, or in this case: FAKE NEWS

If this team is done, and they certainly look like it-- the fallout from this season is going to be very interesting.

the front office has done a horrendous job in Boston ever since winning the world series. Its basically a laundry list of shitty moves: Signing Renteria and letting Orlando Cabrera go. Lowballing Johnny Damon and Pedro. Constantly trying to trade Manny. Giving Beckett an extension before he's done anything of merit for them. Trading Arroyo for a hacker when their pitching staff was already piss poor.

hey, at least their long-term plan is safe.

what is their longterm plan? Theo is starting to sound like Mitch Kupchak. THe only team that has been more badly managed is the Stankees. (actually, my beloved Mariners are probably tops. "Hey lets give a shitload of money to an injured, free swinging, 30+ year old 1st baseman and a 3B who had career numbers in his contract year after years and years of underachieving!" And dont' get me started on $9 million a year for Jarrod Washburn. JARROD ****ING WASHBURN! I almost want to trade Ichiro to a contender out of pity to him. He doesn't deserve this.

you'll be singing a different tune when jose tabata is playing center and right field at the same time 4 years from now!

Yes, it has been awful.

I'm not knocking the offense Theo has assembled, but you have to wonder about his ability to evaluate pitchers. He seems to have little idea about how to construct a bullpen. Going out and acquiring slop for next-to-nothing and hoping it works out is not going to get it done.

Well it is our worst pitcher on the mound. "AAA" Shaun Marcum. If the Jays lose with Halladay on the mound tomorrow, then I'm beyond caring. Still, it is sad that this team has fallen so far, especially considering how well we've done against Boston. It would have been a nice 3 team race. The tears...won't come. I cry dry tears of months long ago.

AAA Marcum? You a fan of his 50? ;) That was some Rookie Ball shit he was throwing today.

Between the end of the boring passionless beating of the Sox by the Yanks and the incredibly bad first inning implosion by Marcum, that was a shitty hour of baseball watching. :(

:lol Hey man, he struck out the side in the 3rd! That actually made it more frustrating. When your pitcher gives up 7 in one inning and then manages to remember how to play baseball when it's too late.

Marcum is not good enough to be a starter, he has been rocked by the teams that have alraedy seen him once before. Start McGowan already, we have nothing really to lose.

lol, I actually stopped watching the game for a while in the second, glad I didn't see him pitch effectively when it was far too late. That's so frustrating.

WTF Miggy with a 2 run shot, 9-0 now. Ugh, why did I turn it back and give Marcum a chance to prove the first wasn't a fluke? This game is bullshit and I'm bailing. :lol

Damn it McGowan, why the hell can you not control your pitches. From now on we should let McGowan start, throw about 100 pitches and than get Arnsberg to yell at him telling him to learn to control his god damn pitches.

I just saw the pre-game Mets 1986 celebration . . .

It's times like this that make me think it's destiny that we can win the WS this year. For a fan who barely remembers the celebration in 1986, that was great. From the reserves like Hearn, Sisk, Heep to the starts like Strawberry, Carter, and Hernandez, it was a magical time.

Remember way back in June when the Mets got swept by the Sawx? Some labeled us as a team not on the "same level" as the AL teams. Most people were looking at Boston as the best team in baseball as they were red hot at the time. Now flash forward almost two months later...

Red Sox are now 3.5 games out of the East and 3 games back in the Wild card, as they might not even make the playoffs.

Back in April when the Mets got off to a 10-2 start, they ran into the Braves who ended up taken 2 out of 3 against us. We were then labeled "slapped back down to reality." And we all know wats happened to the braves..

Later on we lost 2 of 3 to the cards. Now we were not the class of the NL, as the red birds still hold that honor. Now they are stuggling just to be 10 games over .500.

My point you ask? My point is one series does not define a team nor a season. A SEASON defines a team. Now the Sox or Cards could always get hot and make a run, and i'm sure many experts will hop on their bandwagons. But I think most people tend to go with "what's hot" rather than how a team has played throughout the course of a season. And to me the two most consistent teams all year have been the Mets and Tigers. And usually, those are the teams that make it to the world series, barring any unforseen injuries or extended team slumps.

So instead of jumping ship when the mets lose a series or two here or there, take a step back and look at the big picture. See how a team responds after losing a tough series. I.E. the Tigers when they lost 3/4 to the Yanks earlier in the year, and see if a team goes to an extended rough stretch, such as a bad month or two. Signs like that usually point to a fraud team. But a team that avoids those kind of stretches, tend find themselves as serious world series contenders.
QFT. Red Sox need to remember 2 years ago and keep hope alive.

Jesus Lidge is just ugh ughhhhh.

The Twins defense today has been a non-stop comedy routine

And now the ball hits the umpire and costs the Twins a run :lol

Stros have become a complete joke.

*'86 Mets watching Billy Wagner enter the game to the tune of "Enter Sandman"*

Rick Aguilera: "Back in my day we didn't have entrance music!!"
Jesse Orosco: "I could throw 96 back then, honest!!"
Gary Carter: "You smoking weed again, Jesse?"

Sure it was the Rockies and the fact that they fell apart in defense in 6th but this was still a damn good game to view tonight. The pregame celebration coupled with the rally the Amazins pulled off tonight was pretty sweet. Is Milledge starting to come around? Maybe-he has heart but needs to chill out abit. When he just missed robbing the Rockies of a homer, the expression on his face and body said it all,the guy plays hard but is abit too emotional at times.

And I never thought I would say this but Michael Tucker is actually allright. Not as a everyday regular but off the bench he isn't too bad. Hope he can keep up the good play.

Those are some damn nice pictures of the classic unis. The stripes down the sides make their infamous return.:D Man it was great seeing Strawberry,Orosco,Dykstra,Darling, and Hernandez laughing it up in the booth tonight.

Does anyone know if the '86 celebration is on the web to download somewhere? Maybe Utube or I guess I could check out the newsgroups I suppose.
