I've watched it a million times, not only is the ball like 10 feet away from him, it was a couple of feet in front of him too. Even if he had caught up to it it would skipped over him.

Dodgers sure did take it up the pooper from the Padres. Umps were out of control but that doesn't explain the complete waste of space Kent and Drew have become on the roster. :lol @ Dessens being brought in for Odalis Perez, I bet that bastard is laughing at the Dodgers.

Not gonna be easy! They already swept the Dodgers at home before. 3-13 I think for the year.

Don't worry I doubt Odalis Perez is laughing at anyone, he does play for KC.

I think the Dodger team is just a little off right now. Their pitching seems a bit unbalanced with Maddux and Penny but MAN Penny scares me with his stuff. Betemit looked good when I saw him, you guys just need to trade an infielder for either a power bat or pitching in the offseason. I wouldn't really want the Mets facing the Dodgers (bad history) or the Pods (fear Piazza with take over) in the postseason. Give me the Cards or Giants anyday. Or the Reds.

Interesting comparisions here: These are Shawn Green's current numbers.
AVG .283 | HR 11 | RBI 51 | OBP .348 | SLG .429 -> OPS .777
If you average out Lastings Miledge's numbers to 417 ABs (number that Green has):
AVG .239 | HR 12 | RBI 56 | OBP .309 | SLG .396 -> OPS .705

So Mets acquired Green's veteran lefty bat and experience because it outweighs Lastings's youth, speed and potential? I mean I thought the numbers would be farther apart here! I heard Rick Peterson was to talk to Shawn, but Carlos Delgado intervened, saying since they were close friends he could fix him before Yom Kippur.

Lastings has potential but you know the deal Frankman-Green would better serve the Mets come October. Though to be honest I hope we see Floyd patrolling left field by that time.

Btw-you think there is any shot with the Mets going after Manny in the off season now that they have Green signed for a few years? I really don't care to be honest, its just something I realized tonight, their outfield is set next year. Green I don't care for that much. I'd be ok if they resigned Floyd more than anything.

Plus I would rather have that Manny money going towards Jason Smidt.

Padres right-hander Chan Ho Park had surgery on Wednesday to stop bleeding in his small intestine and is expected to be out for at least four weeks.

"He's going to be just fine," trainer Todd Hutcheson said before the Padres, who are trying to stay in playoff contention, went for a three-game sweep of the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers.

Based on a prognosis of four weeks, Park might be able to pitch again this season, in a best-case scenario.

...

Hutcheson said Park had Meckel's diverticulum, or a pocket of tissue that hangs off the small intestine. "The tissue at the junction is weaker than the regular wall of the intestine, and in Chan Ho's case, it caused a bleed," the trainer said.

During laparoscopic surgery at Scripps Green Hospital, the section of intestine with the pocket of tissue was cut out and the ends were sewn together.

jesus

After a good nights sleep and some repression I have forgotten about that Oakland series. Now I am confident the Jays will sweep KC, if not I will use a Mark Redman or Ambiorix Burgos avatar. The only matchup that doesn't favour is Hudson vs. Marcum, but KC sucks and all so we will probably win, than we can kick the shit out of Rune Elvis and than Odalis.

Jesus, what a season for Dye

I dropped him in one of my fantasy leagues after I missed the draft and the computer took him for me. :\ Thankfully I kept him in my other one. :)

Yeah, Dye is having an MVP caliber season, but he's being ignored because he doesn't play for the YANKS or SAWX.

Another guy going largely ignored in the AL MVP race is Joe Mauer:

AVG .357 | HR 10 | RBI 69 | OBP .435 | SLG .515

i hope mauer or jeter wins it. not because jeter's a yankee but so players other than power hitters can win it (and also because i dont want ortiz to win it).

Dye now 2-2 as he just hit another double.

Dye could win MVP if by some miracle of god the White Sox overtake the Tigers in these last 35 games.

Ortiz won't win it simply because there are too many voters out there that won't give the award to a DH unless they have absolutely ridiculous numbers. Ortiz has the home runs, but his average could be higher.

I'd give my vote to Manny right now:

AVG .328 | HR 34 | RBI 100 | OBP .443 | SLG .632

I really wouldn't have a problem with that, but Dye has extremely similar numbers, and if the season ended today the White Sox would make the play-offs and the Red Sox wouldn't.

Honestly right now I'd still give it to Ortiz, though I know he won't get it.

edit: Juan Uribe 3 run bomb. Sox up 5-0. Where the **** was this team on Monday and Tuesday?

Manny and Ortiz will end up splitting votes, which means that Captain Calm Eyes will probably win the MVP, despite Mauer/Dye having better numbers in most categories.

Where the **** was this Garland the first half of the season?

It's hard for me to believe Garland is the ace of this staff, but it's true.

2 run homer for Dye.

3-3, double, 2 homers, 3 RBIs

MVP

edit: OH MY ****ING GOD YOU'LL NEVER SEE THAT AGAIN.

5-7-3 put out at first. What in the ****ing christ Casey. Oh my ****ing god. Unreal.
Fans booed the ever living **** out of him too. Wow. I can't believe that

Funniest fact ever:

When it rains it ****ing pours:

"Danys Baez required an emergency appendectomy late Wednesday and will be placed on the disabled list."

per rotoworld

Through Wednesday night's game, the Braves' players had spent a total of 920 games on the Disabled List. Last year that total was 497.

By the end of the season, the total will surpass 1250.

10-0 White Sox winner. CG shutout for Garland :)

****in' Garland.. he was so terrible earlier this season. I held on for so long but I finally had to cut him, and now he's winning left and right. Jackass.. :(

Wait... Robertson got 10 earned runs in 6 IP but didnt have a single inning where he gave up more than 3? Has to be some kind of record.. Jayson Stark needs to get on this.

Interesting news:

El Duque to miss his next start but is perfectly healthy, apparently it's because he "pitched too many innings" and needs a rest. Brian Bannister (YES!!) recalled to take his start. Also, Glavine's next start will be taken by either Darren Oliver or Oliver Perez.

It's amazing to think at one point Mets had a healthy Pedro/Glavine but no back end of the starting staff. Now they have so many effective go-to options at the back of the staff in baseball. Heck, Pelfrey's hurt and there's no problem!

EDIT: I think I know what the Mets are doing. Oliver Perez was scratched from his start in Norfolk. They're planning to call him up so they can get as many of their quality back-end guys on the postseason roster. The next step is to DL someone else (Glavine) to free up a roster spot.

Just saw that on Sportscenter a little while ago. Hilarious. :lol :lol :lol Almost as funny as Kapler's dive.

I just realized something here. Shawn Green and Carlos Delgado's batting stances are almost identical, yet one is a big power hitter, the other an average line drive hitter. Anyone else have two players on the same team where that is the case?

Ball hits off Crede's glove, Ozuna runs in from left field, picks it up and throws Casey out at first.

Casey thought Crede caught it for some reason, so he had stopped running, took his helmet off and started walking towards the dugout, then he turned and saw the ball in the outfield and broke for first, but the throw beat him by a step.

edit: ESPN and Elias went back through the records there has never been a 5-7-3 put out.
