Dear Mets,

Please, if you could, try to win one fucking game against the Yankees. Just one. Remember, while you all wish you were working for Steinbrenner you actually *don't* (yet). We'd really appreciate you putting up any kind of fight at all during this subway series.

Thank-you for your kind consideration,
The American League East.

PS - go Jays go.

PPS - thanks for your attention to this matter Mr. Johnson. Not quite what I had in mind but it'll do, thanks again!

Stating the obvious: Randy Johnson is awful.

Anyways...
Josh Towers + Coors Field = entertainment. If only Byun-Hyung Kim was the starting pitcher for the Rockies tonight. The number of homers would be insane.

Towers looked alright last couple of outing, I think he should be able to keep his runs under 7 tonight. Maybe. If Evil Josh shows up he'll give up 9 earned in 2 innings. If Good (ie last years) Josh shows up he gives up 4 er in 6 and 2/3 not-that-bad innings and the Jays win.

Welcome back, Buehrle. I was beginning to miss the old Mark. He's now 5-2 with a 2.92 ERA.

The Cubs are no match for us. They absolutely have the worst line-up in the majors. Not a single player has 20 or more RBIs, and they have no one batting .290 or higher.

Detroit is getting spanked. Back into first place we go. All is right in the world of baseball.

OK so how did the Mets win? I'm looking at the score but see no box scores.

Wright singled to center beyond Johnny at the bottom of the ninth against Nomoriano thus advancing Lo Duca for the winnnnnnnn.

Thanks for the breakdown. I tried looking all over Direct TV today and not MLB Extra Innings channel had it. Or did they? I mean I looked like hell but found nothing.

Mets win,Phils loose, good day for sports today.:)

Btw-what the hell is the matter with RJ,wow. I never would have guessed they score that much off the guy.

Holy fucking shit, I have never seen an analyst completely burn an entire organization like Steve Stone did to the Cubs today. Holy fucking shit.

So if Lima is gone who replaces him?

Bannister will be back for the 4th spot eventually but who takes the 5 spot?

Maine
Solar
HeilMan

As much as I want Heilman to be the man for the 5th spot I'm itching to see what Solar is all about. Plus Heilman is pretty much money out of the bullpen.
Mets don't wanna have even mess with the Sanchez,Heilman,Wagner combination.

I'm buzzing boards and the consensus wants it to be either Heilman or Pelfrey. Soler isn't even mentioned but he's a great choice. 4-pitch pitcher in the mold of El Duque, he knows how to pitch and works with every pitch in a start, throws what works and discards what isn't.

It's offical:

The Mets will recall reliever Anderson Garcia to replace Jose Lima on the roster.
Garcia, 25, has a 1.43 ERA in 31 1/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A. He'll likely only be kept as a middle reliever until the Mets need a starting pitcher next week. May. 20 - 12:00 am et

Dodgers Rookies having a field day against the Anaheim Angels pitching so far. Angels errors are always welcomed too.

EDIT: HOLY CRAP! :lol

Thanks for the info regarding Solar, man I hope he can save the bottom of this rotaion from the crap that its been the last few weeks. You think they'll give Pelfrey a shot? Man that is alot of pressure for a kid to handle in the Big Apple, yikes. I sorta hope they hold off on promoting him because I'd hate to see him go through alot of growing pains when he could mature abit more in the minros. I mean just look at the hell Heilman went through the first couple of years he came up. But atleast the Mets were in rebuild mode, you throw Pelfrey in the thick of a penant race and oh boy. Still can't lie though,I'd be going crazy if they brought him up anyways since this kid is suppose to be a stud-like Kazmir is prooving to be,now that he is gone:(

If anyone cares what Steve Stone said about the Cubs, this is the best summary I could do, with some direct quotes:

"The crosstown series now places much more pressure on the Cubs because they still haven't won it. It used to be Sox fans that cared so much about beating the Cubs. Now, Sox fans don't care nearly as much because their team has won it all, and frankly, is better, and everyone knows it.
The Cubs aren't committed to winning. They still outdraw the Sox, but have a lower payroll. They knew they needed another pitcher, but they didn't get one. If Hendry thought Wood and Prior would make more than 60 starts this year, he's fooled even himself. But the way he sees it, as long as the Cubs outdraw the Sox, everything is still fine. Why sign another big bat or decent starter when you make money no matter what? They finished 20 games behind the Cardinals last year...do any Cubs fans, or even Hendry himself, honestly believe the offseason moves they made will make them improve 20 games? Of course not. They don't care.
And don't give me the Derrek Lee excuse. Chipper Jones went down for 63 games last year, and the Braves still won their division. Same thing with Scott Rolen. Injuries are a part of the game. If this Cubs team was any good, they'd find a way to compensate for Lee's absence."

Mets are stalling to weigh their options. They're still reluctant to move Heilman or Oliver to the starting staff but after their performances today, no question BOTH of them are better than Lima/Gonzalez. Regarding Pelfrey, his WHIP in AA isn't good so far and it was thought he comes up ONLY when it's a permanent stay, but it's much more possible now that the Phillies brought up Cole Hamels. Also, don't forget about the possibility of a trade: Lastings Milledge for Dontrelle Willis is still out there. And of course Soler.

Reitsma is a fucking pussy.

No killer instinct what-so-ever.

We can complain about A(H)OL/TW cutting payroll and what not. But, at this point Todd Jones would look like a saviour out there.

My only hope is that Bobby truly looked frustrated during the debacle. Maybe he'll move to a closer by comittee set up. Ken Ray, Villareal, etc.

Sigh..........Must be nice to be able to throw $40 million around to 30 year old closers post TJ surgery.

You gotta be fucking kidding me. Lance Carter is back? CUT HIM NOW!

Hopefully Gagne comes back in 3-4 weeks like everyone is reporting. L. Carter should be first in line for the boot to Vegas somewhere.

How long you think it will be before O. Perez blows up and asks for a trade?

Must be nice to have one of the best farms in baseball to carry you to 14 post seasons as well. You had Ted Turner backing the team throwing tons of money years back at free agents too. Things change though. And noone ever told you guys to let Tom Glavine walk away, sometimes being cheap catches up with you man.

Dodgers owned the "other" team tonight. The Angels should get rid of their gm. He's been horrible and allowing their big bats slip away and replacing them with inexperience and unproven minors. :lol

Good for him. They fired him because he had the balls to point out their stupidity in the first place. Then they replaced him with some ass kissing douche who makes my ears bleed.

Oh and FUCK YOU JOSH TOWERS!

WHO. THE. DEVIL. ARE. YOU? frankman, go back to where you came from and realize that the mets are 15-14 ever since their hot start. calm the hell down. havent won anything yet and probably will not.

Fantasy baseballers:

Francisco Liriano was somehow available in a league I am in, I picked him up and dropped Joe Nathan. Liriano can play both SP and RP position, so I figured what the hell, let me get an extra starter in if I can. But now I am having second thoughts. Is it wiser to have a starter, who only plays once every four-five games in that spot or should I grab another closer since he could theoretically rack up more points for me with up to 3-4 saves per week?

The Twins being 18-25 weighed heavily on my decision. Not many attempts to save for Nathan!
