Nice win by the Cubs. They need those guys to play good every game if they want to win games - Aramis and Juan Pierre. The benefit of Derek Lee was that he took so much pressure off other players. Juan Pierre, Todd Walker, Aramis. One of them played good and chances were Lee's going to take good swings to bring them home. Anyway, still good to see.

Oddly enough, Wood's arm feels sore to cancel out any type of mini celebration winning 1 out of 3 deserves. :lol

WTF?? I'm not able to watch the game on TV, so I'm watching ESPN's GameCast. Can somebody tell me what happened on the play with Bernie. It says he doubled on a Pop-Up to the catcher, and the mets don't have any errors, so I'm just wondering what the hell happened.

The ball fell in between Glavine, Matsui, LoDuca, and Delgado. No one was real assertive and it looked like the wind might have taken it a bit. Bernie ran hard and beat LoDuca's throw to 2nd.

To tell you the truth, if he could just keep the mets at 4 until the 6th or 7th, then he met my expectations for the day. Just, please, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, dont give up any more runs!

Here comes the meltdown.

Why the hell is Wagner pitching anyways? He just threw 40 pitches in the last two days.

He is getting jobbed by the ump.

Oh, FUCK YOU A-ROD!! Jesus, christ! How many times are you going to hit in a fucking double play to end a rally!!!!!

A-Rod kinda...eh, blows. And Kelly Stinnett lol.

Good job Mets. We helped you pick up a game on the Phillies, and you helped us pick up a game on the Columbus Clippers.

It's been a pleasure doing business with you. I look forward to working with you again in the near future.

Thank you too. It has been a pleasure. :D

"Anytime, buddy."

A-Rod is just completely useless. Let's trade him for a case of beer. Hopefully someone will be dumb enough to give us good stuff, but I would settle for bud lights.

What's annoying is that his...shittiness is completely in his head. I mean, I KNOW he's a goddamn good player and he proved that last year he could do it in New York.

But what the fuck is up with him being all, "I NEED TO CARRY THE TEAM," shtick? No, you don't. If you hit a single instead of grounding into a DP trying to hit a hr, you serve the team. Right now, you do nothing.

Highly unprofessional. Remember that post when you get pounded at Fenway.

Hell, he doesn't even have to get a single. Just don't kill the rally with a double play. At the VERY LEAST he could have just struck. But nooooooooooooooo.......

Hell give him to the Mets. I mean what could be better than having bragging rights with
*THE MATSUIS* on the Yanks baby.;)

give him a break. If the Yankees had been up by 5 runs he would have knocked that ball 500 feet.

Witness the dawn of Evil The Frankman.

The Yankees got taken down by the formula tonight: 6-7 innings, from our starter, either/both members of "Teh Dirty Pair", and Billy "Enter Sandman" Wagner. Wags got some redemption (although no help from defense) and Mets take 2 of 3 and should've had a sweep. Onward to the Phillies...

good lord. you beat a crippled team. get over yourself.
p/s A-rod has been sucking latwly but it's beside the point.
Funny thing here ... If Yanks won you would've been like the Yanks are awesome and not one mention of the injuries would have been heard. Own up, for Christ's sake. Both teams threw out two aces and a AAA starter. Yanks had early leads of 4-0 and 2-0 Friday and Sunday. Yesterday you had the big thumpers up like Giambi, Jeter, A-Rod, and Bernie with RISP constantly. With A-Rod, when does the pressure excuse get old? How many years has he been a Yankee? Beltran got drilled last year for his performance and this year is looking at a trip to the ASG.

You deal with the injuries when you sign guys that are up in age. You risk the same fate the SF Giants had paid with Bonds/Alou/Vizquel/Durham earlier this year. When the Mets face the Yanks again this summer Hideki Matsui won't play, does that mean you have a built-in excuse if Mets win THAT series? Please, Yankees fans. Own the hell up. Am I personally taking shots at you like you did Saturday? No, act like you've been on a sports board before (Oops, I'm sorry. Forgot this is a gaming board). I didn't hear this crap when Yanks destroyed a Piazza-less Mets years ago. Even Torre and Jeter (Two of the few Yanks I respect) didn't make that excuse. Three close, one-run games... WEREN'T YOU ENTERTAINED??? Or will you whine like Andre Iguodala and Iverson during All-Star weekend? Seriously, The Gladiator would not be proud of you:

And oh yeah, your starting 8 probably had a bigger payroll than our starting 8 last night. For that you get this.

Meh. Both teams played like shit. You guys played slightly less so. But as you said, it was entertaining at least.

ugh

anyway,

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- On the day Barry Bonds hit his 714th(*) career home run, the best player in baseball was here at Kauffman Stadium putting the fear of wood into the Kansas City Royals. At least, I think it was Kansas City. There were so many red T-shirts and replica jerseys in the sellout crowd of 40,516 that I had to make sure the Royals' team color was still blue.

Cardinals fans are more loyal than the family Labrador, plus they don't lick your face. They've also got the baseball IQ of Einstein. Drive four hours from St. Louis to see a ballgame? Sure. Doesn't everybody?

VOMIT

No, it can't be that the Royals fucking suck and the people in KC like the Cardinals more than their own team. Nope.

Saturday evening they were here to watch baseball's winningest team (tied with the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Lions)

Lions eh? riight.

Frank Thomas comes back to Chicago tonight, and I'll be at the Cell. We better give him a standing O. None of that bullshit Cleveland fans pulled with Thome.
