I still think the wild cars for the Mets in the second half is Floyd and Delgado they've been so-so this year.

Nope.......the wild card is how bad LoDuca's impending second half slump really gets, the health of Pedro and Glavine, the continued taxation of the bullpen as a result of the horrible/unproven back end, and what happens at the trade deadline around the rest of the NL.

forgive them , for they know not the ways of winning a pennant.

Watching the AAA all-star game....the Las Vegas 51's have terrifying mascots

HAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But seriously, a guy with a team who has no pitching staff or a bullpen talking about a team who has a good rotation and a pen #1 in ERA. Funny. Diiirrrrtttyyy Sanchez is money, Oliver is a godsend, the combo of Cheadro Feliciford has been reliable, Wagner is righting himself, and after his last couple outings I hope Heliman returns to diirrrttttttyyyy form.

Nevrous Atlanta Braves fan I see, for the first time in awhile Braves are heavily pressed just to make it to the playoffs. I like Mets offense they could pick Lo Duca if he struggles. Braves starting rotation isn't all that dandy just because Chuck James is pitching well dosen't mean he's going to stay hot. We'll see.

I think the Braves are going to sit one out this year. Unless they make a ton of changes fast, find their chemistry, and a shitlod of luck goes their way-it just ain't happening, not this year.

Crazier things have happened though.

*cough*....

I didn't saw they were bad, just that as an adult I had a "Holy god what the christ are those?" reaction, so I can only imagine what children think.

Minor league mascots kick some serious ass. Have you ever seen Roger Clammons?

I thought Clammons was fired as a mascot for throwing a bat at a kid with a Mets hat ...

No.......I'm a fan of a team that's won the division for 14 straight years and played in 5 WS. I know what it takes to get there. I've seen it time and again.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with what I said and it has absolutely nothing to do with this year's Braves. I've already conceded the division in my own mind.

The Mets have a fantastic offense. But, their staff is flawed big time. Did you happen to notice Pedro's 6.00+ ERA in the month of June? That's pretty damn alarming DL stint or not. Glavine, given his age and pitching style, could regress. And whatever else is thrown out there after those guys is either severely unproven (Pelfrey has been in pro ball less than 8 months) or isn't very reliable.

All I'm saying is that its totally within the realm of possibilities that the Mets have a worse second half and go into the playoffs not resembling the team we saw through the first couple of weeks of June.

I watched every Pedro start. You missed the 9 consecutive starts where he could've won the game if Mets didn't blow leads (0-3 with 6 ND's in that stretch). Plus, it was established he's had the hip pointer thing for awhile and was pitching hurt. Glavine was actually improved since last year with the addition of a curveball, and is in the Cy Young chase. And if you can say that you don't have some faith in El Duque (one of the biggest money playoff pitchers in the last decade), you can't trust anyone. Pelfrey has all the tools to be money down the stretch if he's here, he just needs confidence. Realistically, you only need three good starters.

All I'm saying is that its totally within the realm of possibilities that the Mets have a worse second half and go into the playoffs not resembling the team we saw through the first couple of weeks of June.
Fact 1- Mets second-half schedule is MUCH EASIER than anyone else in the East.
Fact 2- Who in the East is winning 10-11 in a row twice besides Mets? No one.
Fact 3- It is HARD to blow a lead like this. 12 games? Mets have to go like 31-42, and that STILL might win the Division.
Strong Opinion 1- Phillies will never win unless they back those fences up more. CPB is nice to look at but so is Coors Field. See what I did there?

I guess not because he ate a pizza delivery guy at the AAA all-star game last night.

See: 2005 Chicago White Sox

You think you're in cruise control, and then self destruct the last month of the season. Just because of the history, Atlanta this year could be Cleveland last year.

Oh, and btw

league: NeoGaf

you have to be logged in before you sign up for the league! it starts tomorrow so you only have a day to sign up and pick your team.

you get $35,000,000 to field a team and you hardly ever change your roster unless you make trades. you gotta buy low and sell high, get guys before their value goes up or get them before their value gets really high. its pretty cool and something different.

For example, I'll be in last place when Liriano, Uggla, Jered Weaver and Crede fall back to earth during the second half.

If they fall off than I am screwed as well :(

Who said anything about blowing the division lead? It would take a monumental collapse or a monumental run for that to happen.

I'm just throwing caution to the wind as the majority of Met fans have already punched them into the NL slot in the WS.

siamese, I'm just talking playoffs. That was my hope beginning of the season w/ maybe a shot at the WS. Those expectations just went up for many around the country when you look at the team. Imagine if Cliff Floyd was anywhere near last year's pace and Delgado wasn't hitting .260. Also pitchingwise, John Maine (Baltimore's former top prospect) and Brian Bannister are waiting to crack the rotation.

Austin Kearns, Felipe Lopez and Ryan Wagner have been traded from the Reds to the Nationals for the Gary Majewski, Bill Bray, Royce Clayton, Brendan Harris and Daryl Thompson.

what the goddamn christ
seriously.

See, this is why playing MLB '06: The Show doesn't make you a good GM. Right now Reds fans are killing themselves, unless they hated Kearns and Lopez THAT much.

Wtf? That's like.. the worst deal ever. Sure, the Reds needed to dump an IF due to crowding (Freel, Phillips, Aurilla all at 2B/SS as well)... but they're not getting anyone in return of similar value, let alone trading Kearns too. Pretty shocking move.

I just sent my resume to apply as the new Reds GM. You should see the trades I've pulled off in Madden '06. I'll fix them in 10 minutes!!!

Man ... I just got some wicked deja va.

Anyway some hotshot kid prospect named Denorfia will play right. Look for another Reds trade as they now have like 14 pitchers ...

Reds traded Bronson Arroyo to Mets for John Maine, Evan MacLane and Jeff Keppinger...

Well, Cashman will be sure to trade him for Bobby Abreu.

The Yankees have just signed the fat tub of shit known as Sidney Ponson.

Or is it...

On July 30, 2004 the New York Mets traded their number one prospect in Scott Kazmir to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In return the Rays sent the Mets the Ace of their staff Victor Zambrano

Sorry to post twice in a row, but this is deserving:

Yankees add Ponson to help fill out rotation
By Jerry Crasnick
ESPN.com

Right-hander Sidney Ponson, who became a free agent when he was released by the St. Louis Cardinals, has reached agreement on a deal with the New York Yankees, ESPN.com has learned.

Ponson, 4-4 with a 5.24 ERA in 14 appearances with St. Louis this season, lost his spot in the rotation when the Cardinals signed Jeff Weaver. Since Ponson cleared waivers Wednesday, the Yankees will be responsible for the pro-rated portion of the minimum salary for the rest of this season. St. Louis will pay the rest of Ponson's $1 million salary.

Ponson helps fill a void at the back end of Joe Torre's rotation. Mike Mussina, 10-3 with a 3.24 ERA, is the only New York starter with an ERA under 4.00.

PONSON!!! :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Holy shit that is GOLD

I don't get it-whats so bad about picking up Ponson? I mean it didn't cost them anything other than cheap salary, right? He could blossom there, you never know. They didn't give anything so its a good pick up.

And since the Reds are in a giving mood-how's about Keppinger and Diaz for Adam Dunn?:lol
