What a fun game. Gibbons is making Francona look brilliant right now.

what was the bad move by Gibbons? He brought in the most dominant left handed reliever in the AL, to face Giambi who has 1 hit and 7 ks against him. Meanwhile, Halladay is prone to the long ball, and wasn't sharp today. He made the right move, it just didnt' work.

We're still gonna lose because Torre is gonna do that "inning by inning" siht where he takes out pitchers even if they are doing well.

Well at least Ryan struck out that sissy girl Damon on 3 pitches. But after throwing all those pitches today and yesterday he won't be available til the 3rd or 4th game in the series.

Yanks look helpless against the Jays this season. I don't know how exactly though. They just seem less confident playing against the Jays and are making silly errors.

I don't like this Sox-Padres trade talk. The Mike Lowell era has only just begun!

Omar's been pretty good though. But you do have a great point,he has cash to spend now,the Mets have a tv network to allow them to go out and not worry about the luxury tax, they could bring in some money players that some teams may be looking to unload. But you have to give the man credit though, landing Julio Franco,Endy Chavez,Jose Valentin, trading for Loduca and Delgado, focussing this team of athleticism and speed, its worked out great so far. Sure any GM can do that with money, but how many Met GMs have done this so far? I don't think he;'s overated,he was hired to retool the team, and in his 2nd year he has them in 1st place, thats pretty good in my book.

Give me a break.........the Marlins were giving away all their best players for peanuts. It doesn't take a GM guru to get those guys - it takes payroll room.

Add that to the fact that he's thrown $225+ million at THREE players the past two years.

Sure, he's looking good right now because the Mets are in first place. But, there are some potentially horrible backloaded contracts he's gonna have to deal with in the next few years [cough]Delgado[/cough].

Don't get me wrong now......if y'all do win the WS this year or next, then it'll all be worth it. But, if you don't and you're sitting there in 2008 with ~$40 million in payroll that simply cannot compete because of injury, then y'all will be calling for his head.

So we're talking about sending Lowell to San Diego for Chris Young? Because if it's for Scott Linebrink or Woody Williams-- no thank you. People over at SoSH are talking about a possible return of Shea "Clubhouse Cancer" Hillenbrand.

And I was really enjoying the Mike Lowell era too. It's not everyday you get a robot programmed to hit doubles and play gold glove defense.

From what I have heard Shea is headed to Anaheim or Milwaukee. Whoever wants to eat his salary, I doubt Ricciardi is looking for much back.

ESPN brought up the idea of Tejada possibly going to Anaheim. I don't know why Baltimore would want to trade pretty much the only reason for people to come see their crappy ball club play.

I was at a Mets blog some guy said Cards might get Willis. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

What the hell would they trade, I would think if any teams could get him it would be the Angels or the DBacks. If the Blue Jays pitching prospects were not such busts I would think we would have had a shot, damn you and your crappy drafting Ricciardi.

If I can get tickets to tommorow nights game vs. Pujos and the Cardinals I will try and nail Ledee and Cruz Jr. in the head with a battery. I think it's the only way Little will stop wasting at bats with their so-called veteran bats. Hopefully when Repko comes back one of them is gone somewhere.

Beltre... in the Padres ball park. He'll stink more than ever.

It's not much worse of a park for hitters than is Safeco or Dodger Stadium, is it? Maybe if he moved to a hitter's park he'd be better.

I'm not sure, I thought Petco was bigger than Safeco, but I might be wrong.

Kurkijan says Young or Peavy aren't on the table in any possible deal involving Mike Lowell. There is still the possibility that a third team could get involved.

I love the trade deadline in MLB.

Mussina thought Rodriguez should have conceded the run and thrown to first.

"I know he's played better. I know he's disappointed in the way he's playing. It's just not him right now. We need him back the way he's supposed to be," Mussina said. "I thought he was going to throw to first and then I turn and saw him throw it to home. All he had to do was throw it on target and he was out by 20 feet."

Great win in the end, with BJ had closed it out properly but oh well, winning 2 more in this series would be *huge* and could be a turning point of the season for the Jays. Here's hoping AJ has his stuff tomorrow!

Petco Park is about 399 to dead center with a somewhat good size wall. It is 404 to the left center gap. Simply unholy. And the ball doesn't carry well either, so the 399 isn't that short.

Stark reported last night the JS is in negotiations for two relievers that would "give the Braves the edge in the WC".

Hey Frankman, did you get banned from the Braves board? Just kinda curious because a couple of your posts last night were less than civil.

What? I'd have no reason to be banned. For no apparent reason they started saying Mets suck. All I said was Mets was 19 games above .500 with a 12 game lead. That's being uncivil?

EDIT: If you meant the crazy trade rumors thread, I said nothing uncivil, although I could of because the trades proposed there were absolutely asinine. For example:

Yankee fans, how would you like THIS deal?

Phillies-Yanks:
Yankees get:
David Bell
Bobby Abreu
Tom Gordon
Pat Burrell

Phillies get:
Alex Rodriguez
Melky Cabrera

Hey Mets clique, break this down:
Lastings Milledge for Bobby Abreu

*cue laughter*

Hard to tell with no emoticons. I try to throw them in every post just to convey emotion. For example, don't be such a drama llama!

BTW, Ed Coleman announced Pedro's return date looks to be the Saturday game next week in Atlanta. It's a Fox game, so go prepare the Braves board for the return of Tim McCarver saying "unusually long fingers" 4 times an inning.

Sounds like a winner bro. This Dodgers team is probably playing as bad as any in recent memory... at least last year, I expected us to lose -- this year, half of it has to do with shitty decisions by Grady Little. BRING BACK TOMMY! >:(

:lol The Post wins for having the inset pic making it look like a laughing Wells is mockingly pointing at E-Rod. Thanks for the victory, Alex!

I'd love to see it go down if for two reasons:

1) He's owed $15 million next year and that could impact any offer to Zito (even though Floyd comes off the books)
2) The comedic reilef on the Mets board as Milledge is already viewed as a first ballot HoFer

Hey, I'll have you know these facts:

534. Lastings Milledge can tell why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
556. Lastings Milledge caught the Roadrunner.
698. "Lastings Milledge" is merely a name chosen to suit our mortal ears. In the time it would take to pronounce one letter of his true name, a trillion cosmoses would flare into existence and sink into eternal night.
410. Lastings Milledge doesn't use a condom, he uses field tarp.
455. Tug McGraw said "Ya Gotta Believe", Lastings Milledge solidified it, the Mets motto is now "You Believe".

That one doesn't even make sense. It should be Apple Jacks.
Remember the commercials. Kids love CTC because of the Cinammon swirls in every bite. Apple Jacks is "but they don't taste like apples" and "we just do".

Exactly why it should be Apple Jacks. Everyone knows why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch. No one knows why kids love Apple Jacks.

How about the umpire at home CLEARLY sucking Curt Schilling's dick yesterday in Boston? He got all the calls, while John Rheinecker, a rookie, was throwing GREAT pitches and not getting anything. Basically, Rheinecker had to throw it right over the middle of the plate to get a strike call.

Terrible game

Guillen made it clear before Thursday's series finale with Detroit that any actions perceived to be intentional on Padilla's part will not be tolerated by the White Sox manager.

"If Padilla hits somebody, believe me, we're going to do something about it and see what happens. That's a guarantee," Guillen said. "You can count on that. I don't care if we're suspended for 100 years.

"[If] you hit people when they do something wrong, I agree with that. But [if] you hit people because you don't like them, I don't think that's a good [way] to play the game."

"We have to concentrate and win games," Guillen said. "But I guarantee you, if that happens, I don't know what's going to happen, but something's going to happen. Make sure they know it, too.

"If something happens, I'm going to protect one of my players, hit him and point to [Padilla] when I hit him and then make [the Texas players] fight with their pitcher. I'm not here for Major League Baseball. I'm here for my players, and I'm going to do everything I can in my power to make my players perform in the right way."

Haha this series might be fun to watch.

But seriously, **** Padilla.
