Kuroyame you should not rip on the Yankees as you are the worst Mets fan ever you bandwagon jumper! ;)

Speaking of bandwagons, I see the Twins are kicking the White Sox ass again today! I'm officially hopping on the Twins bandwagon for the rest of 2006! :D

I am one of the few people who hate the American league because of the DH. "it makes the game better"?

BULLSHIT. Some people don't understand the strategy involved with pinch hitting your pitcher. only a National League fan understands how imporant it is and how much more exciting it can make the game. The game loses something, like arena football as compared to regular American Football.

Why not have 9 DH's and 9 fielders? Baseball is a game of great individuals. You play? You hit.

The Mets would not compete in the American League, though. I hate it, but it's true. Hell, if the Reds can lead the national League wild card, then you know it's a weak league.

goalies dont shoot the puck in hockey. we dont need to have the pitcher hit. it has more strategy i agree, but it doesnt diminish the games one bit. and that last bolded statement is my point.

I love how everyone is shooting on the Mets. This sh!t be bananas, like a Japanese video game company putting rappers in their game...

I feel sorry for the Mets fans. You think your team is good but they won't even make it out of the divisional series.

At least they give us good baseball day in and day out. We may lose in the playoffs, we may not but at least we have something to be proud of. Cub fans can't be proud of anything. Go put a bag over your head. Your team is pathetic. Always was, always will be.

Always will be? You have a crystal ball? :D

For reals truthz though, Mets fans should just accept they will always be a side show to the main event.

means they are improving their team? both teams are on a decline?

So what happens when the Marlins do it against the Yankees then? So much for that crap about the AL being this beast, you guys were beaten by a rebuilding club team with a small pay role just like anyone in the NL was.

Man you can sure see the haters coming out in full force today. I dunno why you guys ride their balls so much.:lol It wouldn't be because their still running away with their division would it.:)

Oh, they've accepted this quite some time ago. This year is a perfect example: in a season where everything goes right for them, the Yanks are still the compelling story by "struggling" in an actual pennant race.

But let us not sully this thread any further with snide, albeit wholly accurate, remarks.

We are going to draw 3 million to Shea this season. A small show indeed.

Has anyone ever been banned for trolling in a baseball thread? I mean its not really the same as a video game thread, right? Hopefully things are more lenient within the sports forums here on Gaf,great fun.:lol

so clueless sometimes. you want to point to one series and shriek "SEE, SEE!?? THE AL SUCKS!!!" i'm looking overall and see cincinatti leading the wild card and say "weak league"

read this. again.

what am i hating on?

Wait, the AL > NL thing this season is a myth, when up until last week, the third-place team in the AL East had a better record than EVERYONE in the NL short of the Mets?

LOLZ.

I don't see this argument accomplishing anything besides possibly getting a couple of people banned, so why don't we all just let it go? We're all going to root for our respective teams regardless of logic. It's worse than politics in that regard.

Enslaved at work...but whenever I see frank appear, it's worth the time to drop some science where applicable. :-)

Frank: what the shit are you talking about? That jpg doesn't change the fact that one division in the AL alone > the entirety of the National League.

Oh, well in that case, tear each other's eyes out. I'll just grab a beer and some nachos and watch the show.

but it wasnt in the baseball topic. as long as we post here we are safe from the rest of the "world" just every once in a while, some of us need to go out and buy supplies and food. the store owner dont care as long as we have money.

Trade coming up.

The M's pulled AAA outfielder Shin Soo Choo from the Rainiers game today and they have a press conference coming up soon. Word is Choo is being traded for a pitcher but nothing more has surfaced yet.

Choo and PTBNL for Ben Broussard.

I don't completely get this move. We call up Snelling to finally let him get his shot as DH and then trade for another DH? So I assume the DH is now Perez/Broussard combo?

How does this address our terrible SP?

My guess is that it is not gonna be for a pitcher. Unless Soriano is hurt and is going to the DL as is being rumored. I heard that its supposed to fill up a hole on the 25 man roster and unless hargrove is a complete moron and wants to go with a 13 man staff, then its proboly gonna be for some more offense. Then again it is Hargrove so I guess expecting A pitcher would be a good idea.

It's Ben Broussard for Choo and a PTBNL, presumably Jeremy Reed when he's healthy.

Soriano I heard is supposed to be available tonight.

Hargrove doesn't make trades, Bavasi does.

Oh I Know that. I'm just saying that with Hargrove insisting all year to carry around a 12 man staff that this isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. Personally, I think that Bavasi has done a pretty decent job here considering the shell of the team that he was left with. Hargrove manages to piss me off with almost everything he does, I've gotten to the point where I drive around with FIRE HARGROVE written in my back window.
It also looks like Snelling may just come up to DH tonight then sit around and rot on the bench after Ben meets up with the team in Cleveland. I know that getting a lefty masher is perfect for Safeco but damn I wanted to see Doyle.

So if the A.L. is that much better then what does it mean when teams like the Devil Rays put it to the Yankees and RedSox? Or when the WhiteSox loose 11 out of their last 14? Its means about the same as it does when the Cubbies almost sweep the Mets-its a long season and anyone can be beaten. Atleast keep the shit talking down till the playoffs begin.:lol

The Devil Rays aren't as bad as you think, they are just stuck in a hard division and they have no pitching past Kazmir. Offensively they are good.

I did a double take at the Yahoo boxscore for the Pads/Dodgers game:

Top Batters:
San Diego
J. Peavy
2-3, 1 HR
4 RBI

Damn, talk about helping your own cause. With a bat like that, how can he be only 5-10? ;)

I realize theyre good. They have Kazmir for starters.:( But some of the guys parade around in here and pimp the A.L. like its no contest, yet I see teams with stronger lineups(Yankees,RedSox,BlueJays,WhiteSox) getting their tails kicked against teams like the Devil Rays. Just as the N.L. teams do against lesser teams in their own league.

For one league to be that dominant as some say, then why are the goliath teams still loosing to the lesser ones? Thats all I'm saying. I do agree that there are *MORE* powerhouse teams in the A.L. (no contest there) but it doesn't take away what the Mets have done thus far with thier season. Theyre beating up on the lesser teams, winning most of their series against them,as well any team that is dominant in their league should do.
They've got all the ingredients down really, theyre certainly no fluke. A great win/loss record in 1 run and extra inning games. Theyre a group that plays well together, they can beat you with speed, power, defense, small ball, and have a pretty good bench, bullpen isn't too bad either. Though their starting pitching needs one more solid starter otherwise there will be too much burden on Glavine and Pedro should we make the playoffs(nothing is set in stone in my book.) Staying healthy and playing consistent ball is the ticket to October,oh and the Braves bullpen helping us out as well.;)

And its cool that noone gets banned for clowning around in the baseball forum. It would take away alot of the fun in rubbing it in so much. Thats part of the fun of being a fan and argueing with your rivals.

MrBob doesn't post all season long and then comes in here and talks shit when his team wins a couple games in a row. What a winner...

And oh yeah, the only AL team that dominated the Mets this year was Boston. So all this "couldn't compete in the AL" talk is unfounded. If they get to the World Series and get beaten, then we can talk.

I am not discounting the Mets, I already know the Mets are good firsthand after the whoopings they laid into Towers and Janssen. But the rest of the NL sucks.
