I realize theyre good. They have Kazmir for starters.:( But some of the guys parade around in here and pimp the A.L. like its no contest, yet I see teams with stronger lineups(Yankees,RedSox,BlueJays,WhiteSox) getting their tails kicked against teams like the Devil Rays. Just as the N.L. teams do against lesser teams in their own league.

For one league to be that dominant as some say, then why are the goliath teams still loosing to the lesser ones? Thats all I'm saying. I do agree that there are *MORE* powerhouse teams in the A.L. (no contest there) but it doesn't take away what the Mets have done thus far with thier season. Theyre beating up on the lesser teams, winning most of their series against them,as well any team that is dominant in their league should do.
They've got all the ingredients down really, theyre certainly no fluke. A great win/loss record in 1 run and extra inning games. Theyre a group that plays well together, they can beat you with speed, power, defense, small ball, and have a pretty good bench, bullpen isn't too bad either. Though their starting pitching needs one more solid starter otherwise there will be too much burden on Glavine and Pedro should we make the playoffs(nothing is set in stone in my book.) Staying healthy and playing consistent ball is the ticket to October,oh and the Braves bullpen helping us out as well.;)

And its cool that noone gets banned for clowning around in the baseball forum. It would take away alot of the fun in rubbing it in so much. Thats part of the fun of being a fan and argueing with your rivals.

can you imagine someone banning us in a yank/red sox yank/met dodger/giant thread?
but it's cool if they think we're the red-headed bastard child of the off-topic forum. i wear my baseball fan badge with pride. PFC SOLRAC REPORTING FOR DUTY, SIR!!!!

Looks like the Braves aren't messing around. They've added both Chipper and Andruw Jones to the starting lineup for tonight's game.

Oh I Know that. I'm just saying that with Hargrove insisting all year to carry around a 12 man staff that this isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. Personally, I think that Bavasi has done a pretty decent job here considering the shell of the team that he was left with. Hargrove manages to piss me off with almost everything he does, I've gotten to the point where I drive around with FIRE HARGROVE written in my back window.
It also looks like Snelling may just come up to DH tonight then sit around and rot on the bench after Ben meets up with the team in Cleveland. I know that getting a lefty masher is perfect for Safeco but damn I wanted to see Doyle.

Yeah I'm mixed on the whole trade. It's awesome cause Perez/Broussard is a sick DH combo but it also means Doyle gets to start tonight and then goes back to AAA when the M's leave for Cleveland. I hope the USSM comes back up soon so I can see their reaction. Maybe it's up now I just got back to my desk...

I am not discounting the Mets, I already know the Mets are good firsthand after the whoopings they laid into Towers and Janssen. But the rest of the NL sucks.

Who hasn't laid a whooping on them? They're like 2-18 combined as starters.

Unbelievable, the Astros have put up a 6 spot on Arroyo in the bottom of the 5th. Berkman capped it with a 3 run bomb (and I mean, bomb.. that ball was crushed). We had 2 hits through 4 and then they exploded.

And..... Dobbs is starting instead of Snelling tonight. I'm speechless. As somebody at LookoutLanding said "Even when Bavasi holds Hargrove hand, he screws up." Sigh...

I believe Arroyo may be destined to stay at 9 wins.... this is saddening.

Do you post on LoL? I'm Matt over there. Not really among the more hardcore posters over there but I've been there since Jeff left the ESPN boards and started the old L43rd.

At least according to Dave from USSM Dobbs will be gone once Broussard arrives and Snelling stays. The ripple effect is that someone like Wlad who has higher upside than Choo can move up to AAA.

I swear to god, Bob Wickman looks like he's constantly ready to just fall over from a heart attack.

EDIT - Damn Marlins.

I post occasionally over there but not really anything substantial, just short comments in the game threads. I’m KnightOfKingK and I figured you were Matt after matching up your posts on Harold Reynolds.
Like I said before, I think that Bavasi is a lot sharper then people give him credit for, not to mention awesome for participating in the Q&A sessions with the people at USSMariner. It's just that I don't think that this team has a decent chance at making it to October with Hargrove at the helm. If not Dobbs then it will probably end up being Bloomquist.

:lol

I was fastforwarding through the Astros game, only to stop and see the "scoring"

I get to the bottom of the 5th, by this time I'm watching on 4x zoom and we're down 5-1.

Me: "Man, we suck..."
Sis: "Why are you watchi..."
Me: "Wait...no we don't w.......wtf?!"

*score jumps from 1-5 to 7-5*

.......

I kept it on 4xffwd

TREVER ****ING MILLER?!

****! **** YOU GARNER! **** YOU!

You hate to see Lidge removed from a save situation, but that is a good call taking him out (and even if Miller gives up a HR it's STILL the right call taking Lidge out--he was struggling badly).

Edit: and Miller gets Griffey on one pitch.

Oh I fully agree, this club wins inspite of Hargrove. I hope he doesn't last much longer.

And there's the Proctologist we all know and love.

P.S. - Torre is a moron for starting the inning with Beam. That is Francona-like stupidity.
