Official MLB Thread - 2006 Season

I guess the good news about being an Indians fan is that every team in the league will have one of our players before the season is over. There should be someone to root for in the post-season.

:lol

:cry

who is the genius that let konex root for the yankees? and before the rest of you yankee fans start calling for torre's head, farnsworth(less)'s back stifened up while warming up and proctor was not supposed to pitch today. he had no bullpen to work with.

If you guys have something you think should be added/edited, let me know. There is far too much hockey and soccer bullshit on there!

Damn the Dodgers are beyond pathetic at this point. Colletti might aswell sell off any decent veterans and bring up the rest of the rookies to finish this travesty of a season. :lol

I have no idea how that feels.

(let's go get wasted until our teams don't suck. see ya at the hospital for alcohol poisening!)

If the Yanks eventually land an outfielder and have to move someone off the roster, do not be surprised if Bubba Crosby ends up in Florida. Marlins manager Joe Girardi, the Yanks' bench coach last season, was one of the key voices in the organization who believed Crosby could be a full-time player. Current Marlins center fielder Reggie Abercrombie is one of their few rookies who has not played well this year. His .215 batting average was the worst for any active NL player with at least 225 plate appearances.

While it wouldn't be a terrible move for either team, Abercrombie is 3 years younger than Crosby. Crosby for Abercromie straight up would be bad, but if the Marlins could get a decent prospect at any level, it wouldn't be bad at all.

edit: Probably total bullshit, but one of my friends said he heard on the radio(he's in California) that the White Sox are offering McCarthy + who knows for Zito.

Nuts to that crap. Stay there, Zito.

And there's the Proctologist we all know and love.

P.S. - Torre is a moron for starting the inning with Beam. That is Francona-like stupidity.

Dude the only reason you're leading the Wild Card is because the twins kicked the Sox's ass.

You won't be leading for long, by the way (whenever your next loss is, most likely, will be when you fall to 2nd or 3rd place in the wild card).

Oh, and the Twins might call up Matt Garza to replace either Scott Baker or Kyle Lohse in the rotation.

Lol don't worry, we wont be seeing you in this thread for long once your team starts to implode

Hey, who said I wasn't appreciative of the Twins? Or the Sox's fall from grace? Or our uncanny resilience? Everything's everything in baseball. Also, we kicked the Sox's ass a little while ago, so we'll share credit on that, ok?

Oh, you mean like the last time you said you were coming and fell 4 games back in the loss column?

YAWN.

Yeah, like the Yanks make Bosox fans yawn. You can play it cool if you want but Bosox fans ain't ever cool, especially with us in the rearview. You could reverse-sweep us a million times over and it still wouldn't erase nearly a century of harrowed nerves.

Sorry dude, but I'm not worried about shit until we're on the outside looking in with a handful of games left in the season. Not all Red Sox fans are scared to death and shitting themselves over the Yankees every waking moment.

I went to the middle game of the Padres series. That had to have been one of the most lackluster lineups I've ever seen. The only remotely good player was Ethier. A team starting Olmedo Saenz, Kenny Lofton, and Ricky Ledee does not deserve to win.

*Nods in agreement* Slow and steady wins the race, no doubt.

Honestly, I think the Yankees are due for a skid.

Nah, not any real skid anyway. We just aren't potent enough to sustain a long-term streak though. Even getting a 6-spot is hard for us.

the braves are willing to trade betemit to the yanks but only for scott proctor and the yanks refuse to move him. who would have thought proctor would have become an untouchable?

The Dodgers have lost eight straight, are 1-13 since the All-Star break and have been outscored 81-29 during this stretch. They are eight games under .500 (47-55) and a season-worst 7 1/2 games out of first place in Grady Little's first season as manager.

It really couldnt get any worse I dont think. This hurts even more than that dreadful Magic losing streak a few years back.. :(

jim rome said even the best manager in all of baseball is probably only responsible for a max of 5 wins over the course of a season. is it me or is that unbelievably stupid?

Oh and I cannot ****ing believe that we had to give up 2 prospects AND cash to get rid of Odalis Perez. Elmer Dessens? Are you ****ing KIDDING ME? Why didnt we just release Odalis if nothing else? Giving up prospects to get a pitcher who is washed up and about 6 years older than the one you're trading makes about as much sense as driving into a wall.

This team and the management is a god damn mess right now.

Well, last night notwithstanding (he obviously was tired), Proctor has been pretty damn important. If we do trade, I'd hope it's for more relief help to be honest. Dotel will be back but who knows how reliable he'll be? I can live with our offense as is--Cano will be back at some point and A-Rod can't get any worse (I happen to think he's snapping out of it) and anyway, playoffs are all about low-scoring affairs, so I say shore up our bullpen as much as possible. The 5th starter situation seems unfixable at this point--Small is still lurking about in the minors and I think YES mentioned that he's been pitching really well, so maybe he gets another audition.

:lol Seriously, Colletti sucks bad. All the guys that he traded for or signed have sucked the big one. Our bullpen is made up of nothing but non-roster invites. Kent (Done for a couple weeks), Mueller (Done for season) and Nomar (Down 1 Week) are all injured. Little still has Cruz Jr. and Ledee wasting spots that could be used to give rookies time in the outfield. We have Repko back but Little still uses Lofton even though his defense and effort are lacking. If all that wasn't enough to depress the hell out of the Dodger fans, we have players fighting in the dugout.

Janssen down to AAA, McGowan back up. Janssen was pretty damn good for the first couple of months than hit a wall, he needs more time down in AAA to learn how to finish batters off. Time to see what McGowan can do Saturday.

They do indeed, I'm just hoping Collettin doesnt do some bonehead trade of the young talent for a saviour. This season is over and I hope he realizes it and only deals the veterans.

Considering that JS NEVER tips his hand, this is only a rumor.

Lemme guess - the NY Post/Daily News.......bastions of credibility they are.

Anyway, absolutely pitiful game by the Braves today.

Jim Hendry announced Dusty won't be fired before the end of this season, saying they're on the same page with regards to building to the future.

I just...don't know how anyone could tolerate that team.

Considering how Hendry and Baker are both equal idiots it's not surprising.
