Well-played.

Your post-editing prowess certainly negates the fact that the Yankees acquired an All-Star, former Gold Glove, power-hitting left-handed right fielder for what amounts to a bag of baseballs and a 16-ounce Slurpee!

Seriously though, well-played.

Godamnit-Duaner Sanchez is done for the year with a dislocated shoulder. I could cry right now, because that is gonna hurt the pen more than anything. I hate to see Nady go,I liked the guy alot. But it was something that had to be done-Roberto Hernandez was killer for us last year and he's doing that same magic again this year for the Pirates,Omar made a good but shrewed move here, sorry Nady...I'll miss you bro. Thats gotta hurt though, going from a 1st place team with a good shot at heading to the World Series to the uhh Pirates? Poor nady.:(

I'm glad we still have out future stars though. Pelfrey and Milledge are here baby. Though I was ready to face the music if one of them were tradred for a pitcher like Oswalt, but I knew that had next to no chance of happening really.

And is this shit true-that the Mets,Astros, and Orioles were close to pulling off a 3 way trade that involved Milledge,Tejada, and Oswalt?
I think the speculation is just that..speculation. But if it did have any chance then once again Jim Duquette ****ed us over. He traded Kazmir away, and well isn't he the GM for the Orioles now? Watch it that it was the this organization that backed out of this potential trade. Though in reality it was probably the Astros, heh.

My boy Nady gets traded and Sanchez is done for the year-sucks.

Mark Redman was also an All-Star. And Abreu isn't a power hitter.

Nonetheless, I still think this is a good deal for the Yankees because Abreu gets on and runs the bases well. Lidle is just more pitching flotsam.

I think it was a steal too but that only goes to the point about the Yankees cash which Yankee fans hate, no despise to discuss. Hopefully Abreu will find the left field porch in Yankee stadium alot more friendlier than Citizens Bank Ballpark. If he doesn't though it's still no big deal because the deal was not done on, as you stated, "power hitting" ability but rather on his on base percentage which furthers the teams ability to wear down starting pitchers and get them into high pitch counts early in the game.

Fair enough.

Also, I've never got any qualms about discussing "the Yankee cash" - ask Frank.
...however, in this case, there's definitely other teams that could've taken on Abreu just as easily and didn't. The Yanks paid where others didn't, but not where others couldn't.

Yay, Dodgers get Greg Maddux. One of my All-Time Favorite pitchers in Dodger blue, I need to get some tickets to watch him pitch live. Sucks to see Izturis go but he wasn't too happy here with his playing time and No one was going to take Furcal's contract so he had to go.

What the hell.....Soriano wasn't traded. That's insane. This is a wasted year for that team, and unless they know they're going to sign him, there's no reason to keep him except to fill seats. I'm curious what offers there were in the "Soriano Sweepstakes". Surely someone offered something worthwhile. Damn, I wanted to see him in a playoff hunt.

I don't understand why Washington won't offer him a no-trade clause. If that really is the only stumbling block, it's dumb for them not to give it to him. It's not like players with no-trade clauses never get traded.

What a ****ed day... I feel so bad for Nady. He's done so well for us and we toss him away like that. He's gotta feel bitter. I'm still happy Milledge is with us. I would get on my knees for Oswalt and trade Lastings away in a second, but at least we didn't move him for a scrub. I don't know how I feel about Hernandez and Perez... I wouldn't have minded it if ummm.... DUANER didn't die on us! :( :( :( :( **** man... What the hell is that all about? At least Perez is young...

I don't feel we're better than we were yesterday... That's mostly due to the loss of DAUNER. It would have been a good day if we only loss NADY or something...

I'd love to see a picture of Nady's reaction when he found out he was going from the best team in the NL to the worst.

"Yeah, I understand baseball is a business. Where am I going?"
"Uh, yeah, about that....Pittsburgh"

Welp, just like the Astros season they did nothing. I would have liked the team to trade for bullpen/big bat or sell some of our regulars for prospects. They did neither. Oh well, hopefully we can get a look at Pence and Hirsch this year.

Looking foward to another disappointing season in 2007!

So who's the 3rd OF for the Mets now?

michelangelo_creation_LM.2.jpg

Lastings Milledge aka The Holy Boast

More fun facts!

557. Lastings Milledge can fix the Knicks.
307. Lastings Milledge can afford to buy four PlayStation 3's at once, that lucky mofo.

Tampa getting Guzman for Lugo is a steal. That dude is the real deal. That's why you don't throw $40 million at Furcal when you got guys like Guzman down there.

If their new owner would put any money in that team, then they could be really good. They are ****ing stacked with young talent and adding Guzman only makes them all the more deeper.

LF - Crawford
CF - Baldelli
RF - Young
3B - Guzman
SS - Upton

Kazmir as their ace. Who else am I missing?

Probably a platoon of Chavez/Woodward/Milledge.

I'm not sure how I feel about this deal. It sounds like this was a two-step plan to get Linebrink and the second step fell through.

They play in the AL East, they should just give up.

Tampa is merely a showcasing of talent for when the money teams need to fill a hole, sad but true.

Hmmm-Kazmir for Milledge. What do you think? Tampa would probably ask for Pelfrey and Wright as well, the bastards.:(

Yeah I feel the same. Grabbing Linebrink would have made the trade for Hernandez all the better,as it is its a quix fix now. But comes with an air of uncertainty - we still have that kick in the balls though - no Duaner for the rest of this year.:(

And good luck in Pittsburgh Nady. I liked the guy alot. Atleast now he'll probably have an everyday job,so he'll make out ok. I'll be rooting for him.

Yeah I wonder if Sanchez never got hurt, and Mets didn't have to trade Nady away. Maybe Mets could of traded Lastings for Oswalt. Nady was all right he didn't get many big hits when the Mets needed some runs, and his defense was so-so. I don't really feel that devesated about Nady. But I'm pretty annoyed we got Oliver Perez he's already washed out, he's lost almost 10% of his velocity in the past two years.

Gary (Tampa)
Give us your winners and losers for the day

GARY GILLETTE
Big Losers: Phillies, Pirates, Nats. Big winners: Mets, Yanks, Rangers (including Lee deal).

Keith (Fairfax, VA)
Don't want to be negative, Mets season has rocked, but Perez sounds like a younger version of Victor Zambrano. Roberto will be an able fill-in for Sanchez, but Omar could've gotten more for Nady if his hand wasn't forced. Agree?

GARY GILLETTE
Not really. Nady isn't that good or that valuable. Perez has a lot better upside than Victor Zambrano.
You see the verdict here.

David Wells.. here we go. This should be interesting, one way or the other.

All they need is a 1st baseman and some pitching behind Kazmir and they can be competitive.

Guzman needs to be moved to the outfield like the Dodgers attempted to do with him. His defense is really subpar for an infielder.

i cringe every time david wells throws a pitch. he's gonna snap something in his back one game and its gonna be ****ing nasty.

Well obviously the Nady trade was a reaction to losing Sanchez. And I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Oliver Perez. He has a tremendous upside and even with his horrible 2006, his career ERA is below 5.00. A year in AAA and maybe he can turn things around.

Omar may have been close to picking up a good starter, but when Duaner got hurt, that deal (which likely included, say, Heilman) went out the window. All things considered, the Mets did okay, only giving up their most expendable player. I'll miss Nady, though.

WILY MO'****IN' PENA

The best deadline move for the Sox was Trot getting injured so Francona is forced to put Pena in the lineup every day.

I hate David Wells and CB Bucknor.

This is true. Looking at our position players, Nady was definitely the first person that we could afford to lose. I'd still be a lot happier about this if the deal for Linebrink had gone through, though.

Now let's just pray that Sanchez doesn't need surgery.

This NESN broadcast is hilarious. They will just not shut up about the bullpen phone. They've been showing guys talking on the phone more than Coco's last AB :lol

Wily Mo Pena is a MONSTER. Holy shit that was KILLED.

Manny = homered
Ortiz = homered
Pena = homered

Fear it, AL.

**** you Tony Francona.

Francona is an unbelievable moron. Casey Blake kills lefties, so let's leave Wells in to face him.

Now Snyder is in the game and we'll be forced to use Jason ****ing Johnson tomorrow.

I forget where it was now, but somebody in an article called him Tony Francona, and now it has become a joke. Just like "Manny Ortez."

Pena was supposed to be having his breakout season. I wish he was playing every day.

Let's all :lol at the Rangers pitching staff.

:lol

Why'd they trade for Carlos Lee again? Maybe they thought he could pitch.

I'm loving this season by Canadian Justin Morneau. He's raking in the RBIs and HRs while hitting near .320. Incredible, especially considering that the first 1.5-2 months of the season were just horrible for him.
