So if the Marlins make the playoffs who gets the task of trying to put out their fire?

Please don't let it be the Mets

Funny that the Marlins have NEVER lost in the post season. Granted they've been there twice because of the WC, and won the WS both times. Can they do it again? That would be a shoe in for the best stadium deal in baseball.

Cele-brate GOOD TIMES!

I was long since asleep by then, nice to wake up and see another 6-5 win. :D Wonder if they'll skip Lowe's next start or what? Boy, Julio Lugo sure has been terrible so far... he was just a complete rally killer last night and he's been consistently average at best since coming over. Hope he can turn it around.

The Yankees have no starter for Sunday against the Minnesota Twins, and Torre said the team would probably use a combination of relievers to get through that game.

so basically Proctor is gonna pitch 7 innings

South Florida is kind of slow, so I wouldn't even guarantee that if the Marilins continued to be competitive and also won the World Series... again, that a stadium would get done. Part of me wants them to move out just so they can get out of the crappy Dolphin Stadium deal. If they'd just find a compromise on going to a retractable roof, everything is fine.

I understand their dilema, though. Don't want to block out the sun and weather since you're in sunny So. Fla., but you don't want to be stuck with rain delays all of the time. Retractable roofs in that area run about 360 million dollars. Maybe go with a domed stadium with a lot of skylights or something? Who knows.

They're in our division, so we'd only have to face them if they advanced to the NLCS. They'd be someone else's problem first.

He came close to hitting one out a couple of times and got robbed by Freel with a great catch at the wall. Lowe said he wants to go out there on Friday against Colorado since he only made 23 pitches in 3 Innings of relief. :)

Well he does need to get some work in. If he doesn't go seven tonight, he might not make it to 120 IP on the year. He needs to hit that mark to be playoff ready!

Coco Crisp is now out of the lineup for today with a strained soldier.

So let's see... Manny, Ortiz, Wily Mo , A-Gon, Trot, and now Coco. Not to mention Wakefield, Lester, and Clement on the pitching side.

Total disaster. Who will be next to go down? My money is on Loretta.

I'm pretty sure Wily Mo and Manny would still be on the roster if we had a shot. I think the Sox have conceeded this year.

The imploding of the Sox has to be some sort of smokescreen or something.
I'll wait for us to finish the job in the 4 game set at Yankee Stadium; then, I will dance on your grave.

Okay, ****ers, Chien-Ming Wang has 16 wins.

I repeat, Wang has 16 wins. Wang is going to win 20 games.

BLWOWOWOWOOWWON away jerry.

He keeps lowering his ERA he has a shot at Cy Young. The fact that he strikes out nobody has to work in his favor I'd think.

No ****ing way is Wang winning Cy Young. He has 59 Ks to 47 BB. That stinks. The only way he wins is if Santana and Halladay completely shit the bed in September. Verlander is more deserving than Wang at this point.

If he keeps winning, anchoring the staff and lowering his era (which he has been steady doing) the lack of K's will only make his record look better imo.

I don't think that makes any sense at all. The number of K's part.

Wang won't win it unless the voters are retarded.

See last year. Like Roger Clemens not winning it, or Johnson not winning it in 2004.

Wins are a huge stat. It's retarded, but it is. It's why John Kruk has a job. If anybody with a brain watched that program analytically, anybody would realize he is essentially passing off generalizations and bullshit that would make Joe Morgan wince. Ks is also an arguably retarded stat to base shit off of. K to BB is a better stat. Nolan Ryan struck out 500 billion batters a season, but...well...heh.

And Joe Morgan doesn't answer direct questions even when there is a gun pointed at his head.

In other news, Johnny Damon may really BE Jesus Christ:
Damon, who has played with a broken bone in his foot and other ailments this season, showed more concern for Pavano's luxury automobile than for the teammate he has never played with. "Pavano hasn't been around here for a while," he said. "I hope his car didn't get dinged up too bad. I hear it's a Porsche." Told the car did suffer damage, Damon said, "Son of a gun. That stinks. Maybe that means he gets a new one."

I'd say Wang has to be the frontrunner for the AL Cy Young. With Mussina injured and struggling as of late along with Randy Johnson having a so-so season, he's been instrumental in the Yankees success.

Well, my backwards logic sees no K's then sees the record (era being the big one) and thinks "This mofo makes people hit the ball all the time, even when they're on base (the walks) and is still owning everyone!" CY YOUNG FOR YOU!

Of course, I may be a wee bit biased, so. (I say Santana takes it).

Freddy Sanchez deserves some sort of award this year. He looks like a shoe-in to win the NL batting title.. but he deserves most improved or something too.

Pirates sweep cubs, :lol

Cubs were up 2 in the 11th and still lost.
Jesus, two games in a row the Cubs go ahead in extras and can't hold the lead. That's almost soul-crushing.

That's ridiculous.. Wang has no shot. Santana is the frontrunner with Halladay trailing him. I'd say no one else even has a chance.

Halladay

16 W, 3.12 ERA, 111 K's, 1.08 WHIP

Wang

16 W, 3.81 ERA, 59 K's, 1.32 WHIP

As Dez said..it's a two man race between Santana and Halladay. I'd be amazed if someone else won it, or came in 2nd.

LOLZ, a guy with 16 wins and 59 Ks is more deserving of the Cy Young than a guy with 16 wins and 100+ Ks.

Oh you wacky Yankee fans (and Dodger fan). Meier, the Cy Young award is not the same as MVP. The Cy Young is about pitching performance-- not how instrumental one is to his team's success.

My opinion on this is that we should not trade Kemp who has great potential for a guy who might or might not help us in the pennant race for rest of year.

Yeah, no way that one goes down.

Mets trade Victor Diaz to Rangers for minor league catcher Nikeas

Omar should have traded him when his stock was higher but he likes to take a 2nd and 3rd look at the kids on the farm(though he wasn't exactly a baby down there.) The catcher they got has potential so its not too bad, plus Diaz wasn't a fit in the the Mets future.

Link-thats a relief to know that we won't have to face the Marlins right away should they make the playoffs. That team has an uncanny history of kicking all sorts of ass within the playoffs.I won't no part of them.

Oh and since were talking about long shot pitchers who can win a cy young...Steve Traschel has an ERA around 5.00+ but the guy has 14 wins. What a joke:lol

He also has 73 Ks to 65 BB. SOMEBODY GIVE THAT MAN A CY YOUNG AWARD!

As a Blue Jay fan, even I can admit that if Minnesota makes the playoffs, Santana should win the Cy Young(with Hallady runner-up). Wang has no chance. Yank fans should be happy about Jeter unjustly being the favourite for MVP(even though Dye, Papi and Mauer deserve it more).

Damn you Hafner damn you. Jesus Christ are the Blue Jays or Red Sox ever going to win again?

Both teams want to finish third pretty bad.

LOL at Alice's little tantrum after he failed yet again.

The Tigers are ****ing pathetic.

Stros brought the O for Clemens tonight.

*sigh*

It's freaking pathetic. Clemens has looked fantastic. He's pitching like a #1 ace out there, but they can't even score one run against Dave Bush. His last two starts he had allowed 6 and 4 runs (13 IP) What a bipolar offense.
