In recent years, the costumes have ranged from Hooters girls (Nick Johnson and Alfonso Soriano) to pimps (Jose Contreras and Hideki Matsui) to Elvis Presley (Andy Phillips and Scott Proctor). Last year, Chien-Ming Wang and Robinson Cano were outfitted in cheerleader uniforms, complete with their names on the back of the shirt.

This year's winner? George Steinbrenner.

The seven players -- Beam, Melky Cabrera, Jose Veras, Sean Henn, Andy Cannizaro, Jeff Karstens and Kevin Thompson -- were dressed in blue blazers, white turtleneck shirts and gray dress slacks. The outfits were topped off by gray-haired wigs and aviator sunglasses.

“All I want to know is, where’s my golf cart to the bus?” reliever T. J. Beam said.

there better be pictures

Ok enough of this loosing bullshit. Its the 18th anniversary of the '86 teams clinch-what better time than for the '06 Mets to do the same on this very day. Sooooo.....clinch this thing already and burry the Marlins hopes of a wild card. Make it happen Mets.

Ahhh decisions decisions... Adam Lind is playing GREAT for the Bluejays right now.

I don't want Catalanatto go, I don't want Johnson to go... Cat, Johnson, Wells, Rios, Lind to take the 3 outfield spots.... I would want a Lind/Cat to platoon at left, Johnson at Center and Rios at Right.. Just trade Wells for a steady 3rd starting pitcher...he's not likely to re-sign with Toronto. It would also save a lot of money..

Looking at the score to the Cubs/Phils game, we're probably clinching tonight either way, so let's do it with a win guys.

Lind and Cat can't platoon because they are both lefties.. I'd do a Lind/Johnson platoon in left, Wells in Center, and Rios in right, with Cat DH'ing with another righty bat.

Cat said he would rather platoon than DH.

Well what i'm thinking is the jays will make him a good 2 year offer - they need a 4th outfielder because it's likely that one of Rios or Johnson will suck next year.. if Rios and Johnson continue to perform, then Cat would have to DH. It's Cat's choice whether to accept that offer.

The best part of all this is that since we're playing the Marlins, I get to watch on tv instead of following on Gameday.

PS: I can't believe Torre relaxed against Boston. Why not try to secure homefield throughout the AL?

They played 4 games in 2 days. Surely you can't expect Torre to trot the same lineup out there for every game?

Huh? I have to listen to the Marlins announcers. I'm in South Florida, remember. It's not so bad. They seem genuinely excited for the Mets.

Weird cause I'm watching it on MLB Extra Innings-with SNY broadcasting it.
Thats good to see them enjoying the Mets success then. Often times those two guys root like fans and I have to mute the tv.:lol

WOOOOOOO

Man the Yankee fans are showing some bad ass class over at the official Mets message board. Saying congrats and that we earned the division. Thanks you freaks, hope we can make it to the big one and face you guys. Good luck.

Its really ironic that after all the shit that Mets fans give Braves fans for not selling out playoff games that they cannot even sellout the game that clinches their first division title in two decades - especially with ~5 times the population of Atlanta.

I guess they're all waiting to hop on the playoff bandwagon.

Oh and the first NL team that clinches has never won the WS since the league was split into three divisions.......

Oh my god... Dodgers with the bases loaded and no outs and they dont score. JESUS **** THEY'RE SO BAD WITH THE BASES LOADED, UGH!!

Yeah I thought that was weak that Shea wasn't sold out. I guess you need to have the Mets playing against Mike Piazza, the Yanks,or Braves for that to happen nowdays.:(

Could be worse though, atleast we don't do that awful chop.:)

AVG .288 | HR 34 | RBI 116 | OBP .387 | SLG .521 | OPS .905

AVG .251 | HR 36 | RBI 109 | OBP .411 | SLG .555 | OPS .969

AVG .340 | HR 14 | RBI 95 | OBP .414 | SLG .484 | OPS .892

Can someone tell me why Jeter is even the MVP of his own team?

Holy shit.... I can't even begin to describe what I'm feeling... The four consecutive homeruns.. I barely hoped... And two off Hoffman, to blow his save, something that I have never seen the Dodgers do(accoring to Vinny, they did it once, and of course I missed that game), and now Nomar....

Holy shit...

I just saw the highlights of the SD/LA game... WOW

For them to tie it off four homers, lose the lead, and then win the game off another homer... JESUS CHRIST :lol

I watched the bottom of the 10th when Jinx posted and the pitcher was horrendous. No control at all. When Nomar got up 3-1, I knew it was over :lol

Damn, I wish I posted that so you jokers would know there's no curse. I called the HR at 2-0 in the count >_<

That Dodger comeback was amazing. When was the last time you saw 4 homeruns hit all consecutively in the clutch like that. Umm like never?

Obviously GOD must be a Dodger fan, that shit was amazing to behold.

Hey Kuroyume-nice celebration pictures man. :)

If our bullpen is going to continue to be this bad I just hope we lose before we get to the WS....

Ugh I dont think I could stomach a WS loss to the Mets..
