The Yankees have posted a recent better record. And no, I don't consider them an underdog.
What do you mean by "recent?" I'm pretty sure the Twins were 3-5 games behind the yankees in terms of who had the better record for a good portion of the last month, but right now, the Twins are 1.5 games behind the yankees for HFA, and detroit is behind 1 game. If the twins win tonight, they'll be a game behind the yankees for the best record in the AL, and either half a game ahead of detroit or half a game behind detroit in the division race.

So the Yankees are in, and here is a memo to the rest of the American League; If you don't think you can beat the Yankees, then you had better just loose out the string and let the Angels into the playoffs. Looking directly at you, Oakland. The A's are like your college buddy who would see a hot girl in a bar and say, "I've got dibs on her." Then he would spend the better part of the night trying to hit on that girl, but never get anywhere. That’s the Oakland A’s.

:lol :(

Not really :p I have been a fan long before that, but could not register with GAF with a free email account. I finally got a real provider. :)

I know that you are a White Sox fan and you were excited last year as they won the WS and now they won't make it to the playoffs this year. I know Mr Bob is a cubs fan and Matrix, Miguel, and mashing are houston fans, Joe and wellington are Yankees fans, Kuroyume is a mets fan, siamesedreamer is an Atlanta fan and Dr. Strangelove is a Red Sox fan.

I was reading this thread last year and this year as well. :)

Oh, I meant no offense. Just that people tend to start posting in this thread only at the very end of the season/when the play-offs start.

Tigers lose.

Twins and Tigers are now tied for the division lead.

And the Twins game is starting right now.

WOOHOO!

If the Dodgers lose today, I going to be frustrated.

Meier said:
****in Dodgers.. way to just twitter away the chance to take the lead in the West and lose the Wild Card advantage. BY LOSING TO THE PIRATES AND THE CUBS!! ARGH!

Yes, very frustrating indeed.

"Dad is great! He gave us some choc_cake!"

Welcome to the thread....even if you are a dreaded Cardinals fan

*shakes fist*

giambi has a small tear in his wrist and the sheffield at first base era begins tomorrow!

and since coming back from the DL cano leads the majors in RBI :D

The Sawx have Johan all shook up. Somehow.

Santana was a bit shaky during the early innings in his previous outing, but he eventually settled down.

So it seems that he is having some problems with his control. He left too many pitches up last time and already walked 2 guys today.

**** you Seattle. Pablo just got beaned right in the ****ing head.

Warnings issued? **** that shit.

edit: :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol DJ, holy shit:

"Snelling got caught with his pants around his ankles on that one"

Fat Elvis pwned the Cards.

choc_cake got banned? :lol That was quick, keep those Cards fans out! :P

Looks like I'll have Internet access since I'm in Philly lapping up the tears of emo Iggles fans, at least for the next 4 days. FEAR THE FRANKMAN.

* checks today's Met game *

Dammit, man. This homestand is supposed to be about ending the Marlins slim playoff hopes and getting to 100 wins.

Mets have to finish at an 8-2 clip to get to 100.

For a team that's supposedly so awesome, not getting to 100 wins in a down year for the league is pretty weaksauce..........

If Messrs. Martinez, Glavine and Co. were healthy most of the year 100 would've been easy. You also forget the regular season you make your name, the playoffs is where you make your fame.

I live in the reality based world.

We can play that "if" game all day long.

If the Braves we're gonna eclipse 1200 days spent on the DL, then they would of won the WC.

See, its easy.......:D

Reality-based world - Mets went out and won the games. Mets had a BRUTAL sched early and were still in first. Everyone predicted if they survived that brutal stretch (they did) they'd coast. They ran roughshod over everyone, and you still go nuts.

CALL A WAHHHHH-BULANCE!!!!

Just so you Mets fans know, your team is doomed cause of my tag.

My baseball curse will prevent them from winning it all.

0-4 for Lugo tonight.. how terrible has he been? Eesh. Barring an uncharacteristic blown save by Saito, the Dodgers should win tonight.

2 up, 2 down by K's. :D

and by God I mean Carlos Beltran.
What's the word on Beltran? I haven't read anything, but the fact that he hasn't played the last 2 games worries me a little.

Dodgers win!!!! they are #1 in the Wild Card spot, and we almost got swept by the Pirates. :lol :lol

Why can he hit 300 avg for the Devil Rays but not for the Dodgers?

Mets CF Carlos Beltran was out of the lineup again. He said he underwent an MRI exam on Wednesday and has a minor strain in his upper left quadriceps. "Just regular banged-up stuff," Randolph said before the game. "Nothing major." ... New York C Paul Lo Duca also sat out with a sore left thumb that's bothered him for much of the season.
Nothing to worry about. Rest needed. And if I see that piece of crap Ricky Ledee ever again I'm gonna check if I can send Cryme Tyme over to his house.

More Hilarious crap:

I dont know but I dont like having Lugo take at bats from Betemit. If Betemit is gonna be our 3rd Baseman for years to come he needs to be in there as much as possible.

I'm not gonna say it...but...

Halladay done for the year, so I will see you guys when the playoffs start and I jump onto someones bandwagon (most likely the team that faces the Yankees).

MIAMI -- Joe Girardi has a chance to win National League Manager of the Year, but it seems he has no chance to return to the Florida Marlins next season.

According to a report in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Girardi will be out as Marlins manager after just one season.

Loria needs to go die in a fire. What a piece of shit.

Seriously, it makes me glad no one down here bothers to go to games to support the team. I feel bad for the players, but they aren't the ones that would directly benefit from the increased revenue anyway. With the self-righteous, pompous jackasses they have running that club, led by Jeffrey "I should be the manager too" Loria, they deserve the treatment they're getting from fans.
