is an AMAZING router. Finally hooked it up. I dunno if it's b/c I have a Wireless N card in my new laptop but I'm downloading shit WAY faster wirelessly on my laptop then when I was wired on my desktop with my old Netgear.

For XBL I'm showing full strength on my connection w/ no NAT errors or anything. Playing kirby right now in 2k9 and it connected the 1st time, and has zero lag. I dunno if it's because of the "GameFuel" network feature it has or what but shit is ballin' right now.

This is wireless to btw.

Didn't realize how shitty that Netgear router was.

doesn't that erase the game?

no you have to delete the "saved game file" not the actual game itself, there are two files that show up.

1. the saved player
2. the game itself

just read which one it is before deleting

This is where things start to get, well, a little rough! You are no longer playing against the likes of Adam Morrison, you’re now playing against guys like Kobe, Pau, and Ron-Ron. Training Camp is no joke.

Every team invites 20 players to their custom Training Camp facility with the intention of taking a 15-man roster into the NBA season. Training Camp consists of 5 games, with a player getting cut at the end of every single game. By the end of the 5th game, the team will be down to 15 players, and those are the players the team is going to move forward with. Obviously, this doesn’t leave you a lot of room for error. It’s not easy for a young, struggling 48-rated rookie to hold his own against a superstar like Kobe Bryant, but, welcome to the league. Nothing comes for free in the NBA.

There are three possible career outcomes for you in the Training Camp chapter of your career. 1) You can get cut at any point during the team’s Training Camp. 2) You can survive the final day of Training Camp, but immediately be sent down to the team’s NBA D-League affiliate. 3) You can survive the final day of Training Camp and make the NBA squad. We’ve made sure that the coaches are very picky about who they choose for their teams; don’t expect this to be a walk in the park.

some people just cheat, there are two guys on the leaderboards that are rated 99 overall:lol

How can you cheat? And yeah 99!? fuck them

DCX

there is no way to can get 99 overall without cheating somehow, you only get to play 6 games and a few drills, they said that being 99 overall in your entire career is tough to do. Some people do get a lot of points if they are short

i read in other boards that those players with 99 overall are just beta testers. they will be removed from the leaderboards.

This year, the virtual player will acquire another habit when NBA 2K10 comes out on Oct. 6: He will sometimes jut out his chin in the heat of competition, just like the real Kobe

When you play 2K Sports' basketball games which team to do choose?

Bryant: I play the Lakers, 100%. I’ll be damned if I let someone else win.

:lol

the most skill points i can earn is about 10200. that's what i'm shooting for, anything else above that is just from highlight reels

my player got 17/16 5 blocks :D

I kind of want to make that Shane Battier type of SF but I'm a bit concerned. I averaged 28 and 11 as an athletic SF and I don't think I could come close to averaging that (and as a result getting as many SP) with a slow 3 point specialist who defends or the opposite of that.

At the same time though while my SF might be great in MY NBA mode there is no guarantee that my athletic SF could be that much of a threat against custom made bigs and good team play in general since this guy isn't the greatest shooter (though I would work on his mid-range).

If I make a defensive SF that would be the best for team up but it would be a chore to level up and get him to a decent level because he just wouldn't average nearly as much. I score mostly as an athletic SF by beating guys off the dribble and getting to the rim. To make a Ron Artest type of player it would likely cost me a ton to upgrade my 3pt, Mid-Range, defensive abilities, and etc...

I'll try to see how it works out in combine. Do we have any actual centers?

Yes, I am the center. I am making my guy Shaquille O'neal II. Lots of strength, standing dunk, close shot, and shoot from post.

I'm averaging 15 points, 15 rebounds, 3 blocked shots, 70% shooting, 3 assists, and 1-2 steals a game.

How the fuck are you getting 28/11? :lol I guess its harder to put up numbers as a big man because 1) Everybody sucks at throwing entry passes (bounce passes galore) and 2) Everybody loves to shoot 3s and run.

Yeah my guy is constantly getting doubled in late game situations and its satisfying coming off curls and sinking jumpers in their faces before they can set up the D. It is about learning how to demand for the ball and attack as many times as possible without getting a bad grade. Initially I averaged something like 12 and 6 because I didn't know how to get the ball in my hands. I'd literally stand at the corner 3 and hope they passed me the ball. But now I just move around where I'm needed and get in a position where I can call for the ball without getting a score reduction.

I average 28 (will attempt to average 35 after I remake him today) b/c these guys just can't keep up with his speed and size. At 6'9 with dunking ability I can get into the paint at will and I'm always the first guy out in transition for easy buckets.

Speed is so expensive (and so huge) that I'm thinking about just staying with my athletic guy. He can defend really well and even knock down jumpers...he just can't knock down a long ball or pass worth a damn.

Yeah I could average like 8 more points a game if my guys CAN get the ball to me. Soon I'll be able to back everyone down and just dunk :D

For my sake lets have good passing guards...

I'd imagine it would be a little harder to demand the ball as a center if you're a back to the basket player. Given the 3 second violation you'd have to basically keep an eye on that, move in a position to demand the ball, run back in the paint and try to set up for a good score before a violation or where you can at least have a chance of actually making the shot.

Edit: Here is a tool for seeing the differences between characters.

Better than scrolling down and trying to remember stats.

Do stats like offensive/defensive awareness even matter? Also, what does a higher rebounding stat do? I am working mostly on my offensive game cause that's hardest to improve. It seems like defense/rebounding is all about positioning which I think I'm getting better at.

How do you get someone to set a screen for you so that you can curl?

I'm done trying to get a better rating. I played about as well as I think I can play.

Drafted 2nd round 3rd pick Blazers :\
49 Overall

40.5 ppg
7 rpg
4.7 apg
3.5 spg
0.2 bpg
1.7 topg
60.6 FG %
.75 3PFG %

Now the boredom begins. Gotta wait until the game launches to improve.

I haven't noticed too much of a change with defensive awareness. Offensive awareness does seem to help me rebound better and react to loose balls to get my boards/steals up.

I haven't upgraded offensive or defensive rebounding. I'd imagine the rebounding animations would be improved so you have a better reach once you jump but I find the vertical statistic to be a better help in the early run.

Also I don't know how to make players set screens when I don't have the ball. I set screens and move or run at angles to get open for shots.

How many dev points were you making per game?

I would say 1700 on average? I would have to check. Mental stats seemed to really raise the bar. Offensive/defensive awareness/consistency boosted me up pretty quickly early but started to barely lift me up later. It's a shame because I was a 47 after 3 games and if I would have found a better way of distributing I might have gotten in the lower 50's.

Ultimately the overall for the DC is worthless though. I'll admit I was mainly looking to get my overall up and average the best stats that I could. If you have a character with a lower than 50 overall that doesn't necessarily mean you have an inferior character. I very badly wanted to upgrade my shooting more because I knew that would make me more effective but I doubt it would have boosted my overall very much because of how much the points cost.

At the end of the day everything will balance out eventually for everyone so long as they are playing. People that are developing more appropriately (core things that matter but take a while to upgrade...speed, 3pt shot, etc) may be as low as an overall of 45 after done with DC, but may have skills that will transfer more easily to crew games once its all said and done. On the other hand those that upgrade stats are a little less meaningful to crew games like I did are going to have to concentrate on upgrading stats that will allow more options against live opponents.

Short version: Your overall doesn't matter right now. Everyone is going to have to create a player that can be effective against live players and a high overall doesn't guarantee success. My slashing SF has to really work on his jumpshot for example. There is no way I am going to be able to average 40ppg and 8 boards a game against bigs like pheenix and others or good defending players. If I had changed the order of my upgrades I would have probably have 46 overall but would have had a better player despite what the numbers say.
