I've already created a replacement Derrick Johnson cover for 06, so I'm ready to go. I need new football games in my life.

But today, for the first time, I realized that with no confirmed NCAA 06 on the 360 this year, I'm assed out when it comes to draft classes on Madden 06 on the 360. Hopefully something can be done.

WTF? this seem really early!!

NCAA Football games are always released in early-mid July.

NCAA 02 - July 23, 2001

NCAA 03 - July 20, 2002

NCAA 04 - July 16, 2003

NCAA 05 - July 15, 2004

NCAA 06 - July 13, 2005

WTF, every year its bumped up a few days :lol

I'll be renting this years version first...which i would never do before...

They fucked up last years too much for me.

quick question someone who might be reading the thread might know, slightly off-topic

when I get my X360, will I be able to download updated roster files from other users and use them in the game? or will I likely always need a gameshark-type device?

This game was the most enjoyable experience of E3 for me. It was such a pleasure to see that they fixed the fuck ups from last year (widescreen slowdown was terrible).

Should be good shit. And you can't go wrong with my boys on the cover.

There better not be slowdown and the ball better not freakin pass THROUGH my defenders like last years games.

from what i understand, ncaa 2006 supports "file sharing" over xbox live. i imagine if there IS an ncaa 2006 on xbox 360 we can expect the same feature. but, there has been no confirmation (to my knowledge) of a 2006 version for 360.

Heisman Mode Diary

The mode starts with a coach yelling at a group of high school players. There are college scouts in the stands, and it's up to you to impress them by working out in drills. This is your chance to make it to a big-time program like Miami, or struggle and sign with San Jose State.

The first thing you need to do is pick a position for your drill to "show the coaches at camp what you've got." You can select one of the following:

Pocket QB
Scrambling QB
Running Back
Wide Receiver
Defensive Lineman
Linebacker
Defensive Back

But before I hit the field, my dorm room is ready! I am also told that you can track your progress to greatness using the Heisman Hype meter, you can hit the practice field to improve your game faster, if you perform well in big games you can become a legend in your program, and you even have a mailbox to receive fan letters.

From the dorm room, you can head to the practice field and work on your position drill, head straight to a game on the schedule, read that fan mail pouring in, follow your team's story in the school newsletter, or look at all the trophies you've won throughout your career. I decide to play our first game against San Diego State.

By the time I'm up 35-0, it's a one-man show, and I can't wait to see my final numbers. The only problem is that I fumbled again. Hopefully the Hesiman voters overlook that one glaring weakness so far in my game.

The second game of the season ends and I finish the day with 242 yards and 4 touchdowns. I can't wait to read my fan mail.

When I head back to my dorm room, I find out that I was named Pac 10 Player of the Week, UCLA has moved up in the polls to #20, and my Heisman Hype meter is half full. I am not in the top five candidates yet, but if I have a few more games like I did against Rice, I should find myself toward the top. But we'll see, that USC quarterback should have went pro. Not only would the 49ers have been better off, but I would have an easier time trying to win the Heisman in my first year.

Oh yeah, the new videos are of the Xbox version. Looks like no slowdown during gameplay, but there is a bit during the after-play cutscenes when the crowd is in the background . Weird.

Agreed. I am not going with the GAF hype on any sports game this year. You guys suck at leagues for anything other than Madden.

It's a typo. Tiburon is only working on Xbox and PS2 versions of NCAA (sadly)

EA's 360 titles are NBA Live, Madden, Tiger Woods, FIFA, The Godfather, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

Burnout is the last one. I know because I preordered it

Hey, I preordered Perfect Dark Zero on Gamecube, it doesn't make it right!

...and yes, I forgot Burnout Revenge :)

I'm not going to waste my money on this unless it's great. Last year's version turned out to be unplayable, despite positive impressions and even positive GAF word of mouth. I'll wait a week or more to see what flaws people discover. Madden doesn't come out much later, and as we all know, that takes up 3 quarters of my year ;p

We don't need you anyway, old man! You'll just quit on us like you did with MVP

Seriously though.....let's not get suckered in by this game. It might be awesome, like 04's...I just don't want to see us wasting our money on a faulty product. I'm not trying to kill the thread, just expanding on what we all know to be true.

I'm not allowed to give Tiburon a 2nd chance?!

Hell, those dumb as rocks 2K fanboys have given VC their 25th chance since 2001!

Besides, I'll just sell the game for $40+ on Ebay if the game sucks :)

Oh....by all means give it a chance. You can be one of the lab rats! ;p

We'll only have about a month to play it before madden comes out...such a shame, since even if it's a great game it'll get swept aside.

i think ncaa 2005 was universally panned here @ ga after a couple days discovering that not only was the rampant slowdown not fixable on xbox, but the game itself sucked anyways.

if you are on the fence, wait exactly 168 hours after release for confirmation on the games worth.

p.s. i will be a lab rat

I don't know if I'm going to buy this, either. It's only a temporary gaming fix before madden is out. This game will get dropped like a rock once Madden 2006 is out.

NCAA 2004 w/ rosters is better than any sports game...ever...seriously. There are 2 sports EA does right.

College football, and MLB Baseball...

is it confirmed that we will be able to upload/download roster files and so on with ncaa 2006 over XBL?

if that is the case, i may actually play through the dynasty mode... the no-name (only #) players prevent me from doing so

would the NCAA allow something like that?

EA revealed EA Sports Locker for Madden 06 where you can share rosters, franchise saves, and replays with anyone online.

Question is, will EA put this feature in the other EA Sports games like NCAA 06? I heard that EA wants to put this feature in all of the EA Sports games this year, so we'll see.

FMT said that the XBOX slowdown was noticeable at E3. I can't beleive that EA didn't fix that shit, it is one of the few glitches I could ever call a game killer. By the time the framerate stabilzed, your timing was off if you were passing, or you couldn't hit the hole properly if you were running. I would go to OS and see what they have to say about the framerate, but last year they said the framerate was fine and it wasn't. I don't mind playing on my PS2, but it's no secret that the XBOX version looks better.

newsguy, check out IGN's videos. The Xbox slowdown during gameplay is pretty much gone. I won't say completely gone since these are just videos, and I'm not playing the game on my own TV :)

Oh, so those are XBOX vids? Since it was in the sports section I didn't know what version it was. That's good news then, I did the the UM-USC vids and it looked smooth.

Not going to be a lab rat,I fucked people over with espn baseball this year and took some abuse for that *some deserved*

If NCAA's anywhere like last years version..... :lol count me the fuck out.I expect detailed impressions from Fmt and DM.

NCAA 2k5 is the best basketball game I've ever played. EA basketball games are pretty lame, but I agree that the NBA 2k series peaked about three years ago too. You should check out the college game. It's fantastic.

Also, thanks for the heads-up on filesharing for NCAA Football. Pretty cool that an internet enabled console can d/l files, go figure.

we had an NCAA 2k5 league. it failed because the game was garbage. shooting % was in the high 30's even for the best teams. big men still played like they were spot up shooters. all you had to do was turbo around the court for a minute and then throw a shot up in the lane. even with short bums you could rack up points, and that's the only way you could have a decent shooting percentage. the game was just no fun and if that's the best VC has to offer (it's not, NHL is) then i'll pass on all future $20 rapings

Well I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm still having a blast with this game. We're running through a legends tournament and we're having accurate shooting stats. As for just running around with turbo, I feel the effectiveness has been turned down a lot from 2k3. There's nothing like burying an open three in 2k5, it's the first basketball game I've played where plays actually work and you're rewarded for kicking the ball out to an open player. Of course, you like Live, so your opinion is pretty fucked already.

Of course, you like Live, so your opinion is pretty fucked already.

i wouldn't say that. i like live a lot better than NBA/NCAA 2kx when i can use sliders in live (i.e. offline/singleplayer). unfortunately, not only can you not use sliders online in Live, but the game runs like shit online. therefore it is worthless to me.

one BIG problem in NCAA/NBA 2kx is that there needs to be a dunk button. too often i miss wide open layups. konex argues i'm not holding turbo or i'm doing something wrong, but considering everyone i play also misses layups i know it's not just me. bottom line is, unlike MLB 2kx which is complete horse shit, NCAA/NBA are just a few EASY fixes away from being excellent games. but they have been a few "easy" fixes away for a few years now. get it together VC

I still play NCAA 05 to this day, and I'm definitely buying 06, but I'm ready to see what the next generation consoles can do. I'm ready to see Madden and NCAA update their engines, hopefully including more realistic physics on both sides of the ball.

In the IGN videos, I'm still seeing the same animations that happen currently 10 or 11 times a game, yet don't happen nearly as often in real life. The stiff arm that keeps a player in place while simultaneously slowing him down to a crawl, the tackle where a guy is slung to the ground like a bitch.

The best thing I saw in those videos is that now passes out to the flats seem to have the proper air under them.

not to sound overdramatic, but holy shit does this game look awesome. i just watched the new vids from IGN, and it's looking great. nice speed, lack of "spider senses" by defense, no super linebackers, you can fit balls over defenders' head and into tight spots, the strip/fumble animation is new and looking good and you can actually complete short passes over the middle! who would have though!

check the new vids out ladies, you won't be disappointed. my frothing demand for this title increases
