Official NCAA Football 06 Pre-Release Thread!

Yeah my friend misses a lot of inside shots too. I can see where that would get frustrating.

I shoot over 45% against the computer and probably better against my friend, and I'm an outside shooter/pick and roll player. I don't find myself missing an absurd amount of layups, however I think that any layup that is contested should be rattled. I like the toned down dunks myself, as it's a college game and coming from Live of the late 90's, it's just a better type of basketball than the run and gun series of Live.

It's got it's problems, but for my money it's still the best basketball game ever made. Another thing that helps is that the sliders are almost perfect out of the box, so that helps with online play.

2K College Bball is a sad and pathetic game, just like it's NBA counterpart, now on to bigger and better things.

I will gladly be a lab rat,I very seriously doubt they fuck it up two years in a row, unlike VC,EA actually makes changes to their sports games when people complain. ;)

If College BBall 2k5 is sad and pathetic, I don't even have words for NCAA 2005 football.

Well that's nice Mr. Tet,because I don't recall ever saying NCAA Football 05 was worth a damn either :lol :lol

And yea FMT,I'll get my Xbox from my brother and I shall beat you down tomorrow!I've been giving you time to practice :D

Kushmir:While the EA Sports Locker may be a Madden exclusive, NCAA players would certainly benefit from the ability to download the rosters of others Users on server-side save systems. The game ships without player names and this would be a great way to spread fully named rosters from coast to coast, is it feasible?

EA:This is not feasible as the NCAA would not allow us to possibly distribute roster files that could potentially contain named players.

:(

Kushmir:We've heard the rumors, but what's the status of actual Player Names in future installments of NCAA Football?

EA:This is definitely something we would like to pursue in the future. We are working with the NCAA on this matter, but there are still many hurdles to overcome before this may become a reality.

Kushmir:How has special teams play been improved?

EA:We've worked on the return lanes this year and made it so the more agile player will be more effective in the open field and this leads to bigger returns. Also, we've made it so punters don't always get the ball off at the exact same time, every time. The worse the punter, the higher the chance for a possible delayed kick. That doesn't mean a bad kicker is going to get every punt blocked. A lot of things have to come into play for a block, but there are more of those 'almosts' as well as the 'it's blocked!'

Kushmir:How about Defensive Hot Routes? While College defenses aren't as complex as NFL ones, will we get to see Defensive Audibles in a limited fashion?

EA:We did add a lot to add flexibility for users on defense as many enjoyed that ability on Madden last year. So what we've done is added the same features to the R-stick that you got when calling a line, linebacker or coverage audible. You can crash your line left, right, towards the middle or to the outside. For LBs, you can drop them back in zone (MLB will go into spy), blitz all or blitz either outside LB. And with the safeties, if they are in zone, you can favor the left or right side of the field w/their zones.

We've also added to coverage audibles the ability to change your coverage on the fly. So out off all formations (excpt Goalline), you can audible to a Cover 1 (L1), Cover 2 (L2), Cover 3 (R1), Cover 4 (R2) or Cover 2 Man (square).

And with all the great scrambling QBs in college football, we needed to give user the ability to spy on the fly. So you can quickly get either one of your defensive ends to spy by calling a line audible and hitting square (RE) or circle (LE). And they will try to stay outside of the QB to keep him contained.

Bah, the ability to "swap files" (saves or otherwise) should be built into the next gen consoles, taking the culpability out of EAs hands :(

If they are internet-enabled, why shouldn't I be able to trade saves with my friends?

It should be supported at the console level, not the game level.

And FMT, I should hope not. I've never been that disappointed with one of EA's offerings. Madden made up for it though.

DM, why are you surprised about not being able to share files? I said this on the first page, the NCAA would never allow that without a HUGE uproar from players.

The NCAA isnt stupid, they're gonna make money off the players because if that wasnt the case then wouldnt they get rid of "EDIT Players"?

Uh, because this is EA saying this now and now just a random poster on a forum? :P

Still, EA Locker is not just about rosters. On Madden you can trade replays and franchise saves too.

Some motocross game this year had the same girlfriend "upgrade" system as you progressed through the game. I totally forgot which one though.

DMczaf said:
Is that the worst looking girl or have you seen others? :P

There are some pretty bad ones, there are some girls that are designated as "skanky"
I havent seen them all but my girlfriend said they had to paint out some of the cleavage for whatever reason so a lot of them look weird

Why can't Microsoft do this for us? Is there something inherently wrong with save sharing built into the console? I suppose it might open the door to viruses though.

Damn, I don't want to buy a GameShark but I want real college rosters.

And I didn't used to like you. You've won me over man. Fuck if you're a 49er fan. Fuck if you occasionally use the "superior" Panthers. That was an awesome post. And you've got another fan for life. I've picked on you before FMT. I won't anymore. That was classic :lol

FMT that is the funniest post I have ever seen on this forum man. :lol.

It makes it funnier cause I used to spend time with him too. And then he left me for you. :(

Dammit, that image everyone is freaking out over is down! Put it back up FMT. Did someone pass around the link and kill his bandwidth?

edit---who am I trying to kid, I will be getting it at launch and I will PRAY that all the code from 2005 has been rewritten :(

Me too (if the slowdown has disappeared).

If the players can catch and the slowdown is fixed then I'm in for sure. I loved the recruiting.
My dream is that EA would give us some kinda league/conference setup on Live. That would be straight nectar.

I think you can take me off the list. Unless it's the best football game of all time.... Only a month before madden comes out, and i'll probably still be MVPing then.

PSXSports.com got their preview copy

http://www.psxsports.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1423

Well, time to dive deep into the experience of NCAA 2006. We will be spending the entire weekend playing race for the heisman mode, dynasty mode, exhibition, etc. Exhausting process but someone has to do it biggrin.gif. Anyway, we won't be answering questions at this time. We will be away for a little while testing this game to its limits. Hopefully we will have a review up early next week. Think of some questions that you would like to know as we will be having a Q&A session in the near future. Please no, "On the fifth season of race for the heisman mode" questions. We won't be playing that many seasons. We are looking for weaknesses in the 2005 version of the game that have been solved in 2006.

I want to first mention that the menu videos are awesome! Saw Peyton Manning and Barry Sanders. Barry was incredible at Oklahoma State. Saw Warrick Dunn and a huge list of others. Great atmosphere with the inclusion of video footage. The EA Trax is great! The music is similar to MVP than Maddens, but the songs are extremely catchy and I love them already. A great addition is the ability to change any player to any position. You can change Boston College's CB#1 to WR#1 with ease and only with extremely slight overall rating reductions. Time to play the game!!!

See FMT, Tiburon works for YOU! They knew you loved Tessie!

Ok, here's the scoop after the first game... This is a MUST OWN game! The funnest NCAA experience yet. I played against Boston College and I was amazed how their DE#94 is such a beast! The greatest aspect of the game is that the CPU flips players. They had him at LE and RE depending on the field position! The announcers were talking about him all game too. What amazes me about DE#94 is the first thing I look to see is if he is being blocked. He appears to be blocked and then out of nowhere sheds the block and accelerates like Dwight Freeney. The moment he sheds his block forget about it. I was so nervous I couldn't ever find a receiver in time and I was sacked the moment he was loose. It's great watching the replays and seeing DE#94 legitimately shed his block after 2-3 seconds and accelerate with amazing quickness after you. It's one of those moments where he sheds his block and you say "Oh he" and he sacks you before you can finish the "ck". Just the greatest experience of NCAA ever. Back to playing or testing, whichever word you prefer.

I am playing the game and trying to post at the same time, but this game is phenominal. I find myself extremely into this version because it plays the way college football should be played. I am playing on All-American and everything has been fair so far. I going crazy about all of the new break tackle animations that my runningback is pulling off. I cannot say enough that EA finally got it right with this game! No complaints at all so far!

How the hell can a site that uses terms like "Funnest" get preview copies of games and real sports fans like us get jack shit? I guess I should start a site. That's just ridiculous.

I watched the tutorial and didn't see any new moves, am I missing something?

For those keeping up with the IGN videos, it seems that the XBOX slowdown is in fact gone. It was mentioned earlier in the thread, but since then they've released some new ones like VA /VA Tech. I've watched many of them (they are long) and it seems smooth as butter.

2 more weeks til release, pre-woo! (NCAA doesnt get the full woo til I play it!)
