Yeah man as a Eagles fan, i cant even argue for them. Of course they made mistakes, especially McNabb, but thats part of the game. I wouldnt go as far as saying the Pats were so much better than the eagles, but they were just that good enough on that Sunday to beat the Eagles. You have to give them props sometime.

From the Yahoo Sports Newsletter:

Yahoo! Sports Give and Take – Da Bears
Charles –

The Chicago Bears are getting the shaft. This is by far the best defense in the division. The offense is improved, and so are the special teams. And you're picking them last in the division and with only six wins. Give us a break and take a deep look, and you will see this division belongs to the Bears.

Yahoo! Sports' NFL writer Charles Robinson responds:
If the Bears win the NFC North, I'll eat my laptop.

The preseason pics have gotten so rediculous this year I just stopped caring. I mean they were bad last year.

But these guys took it to a whole new level for 2005

People are still picking Seattle to win the Superbowl? When will people learn? If you can only go 9-7 in the NFC, you are not a Superbowl contender.

EDIT: Good point, Wellington. :lol

Still cheering for the team with the most racist name in all of sports. I reckon the Redskins are cursed to suck until they change the name to Warriors or something.

Here's my own fantasy question-If a trade is so ridiculously one-sided as to be unfair, but at the same time through some freak accident it could improve the team getting shafted, do I still have an obligation to vote for a veto?

The trade is on a GAF league, and I don't know who the participants are, but the deal involves team A trading Marvin Harrison and dropping Chris Brown altogether in return for Charles Rogers and Travis Henry.

Now, I see it as a top 3 receiver and the running back likely to get the slight majority of the carries for a receiver who is injury prone and still the second option at best on his team plus the other guy that would be sharing the carries(And is questionable for the first game).

It could end up being good if Henry wins the starting job outright and/or Brown gets hurt, and Rogers doesn't get hurt, but that's a pretty big assumption. I don't like voting down trades unless it's obvious collusion, but I feel bad for the guy giving up Harrison if he thinks it's a fair deal.

I'd let it slide. It's not extremely ridiculous, and could pan out for both teams. It's a risk for the one person, but it has potential. Nothing too unfair.

Archaix, I saw that trade and I decided not to worry about it. It didn't really seem that unfair to me.

I vetoed it. The guy getting Harrison would have both him AND TO. Fuck that noise.

I think my problem is mainly that the guy giving up Harrison is giving up Brown too, because somebody's sure to pick him up when the trade goes through(Hell, I'll snag him up just because he made the stupid move of dropping him instead of Gaffney or Reche Caldwell). If it were Rogers and Henry for Harrison alone, it'd be pretty dumb but he's really weak at running back. Now he's going to be really weak at running back and vulnerable plus weak at wide receiver.

I still like Norman Chad's suggestion of renaming them the Washington Redskin Potatoes.

I'd seriously like a permanent return to the spear helmet logo.

Westbrook cuts of contract extension talks with Eagles

PHILADELPHIA -- Pro Bowl running back Brian Westbrook cut off contract talks with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday because the two sides are far apart on a long-term extension.

"Me and my agent have told the Eagles' management that we're no longer interested in talking to them as far as the contract situation," Westbrook said Thursday. "We don't feel as though we've received a proposal from them that really represents the value that I bring to this team and my market value. I think that in the last 2½, 3 years that I've been here, I've brought a lot to this team."

Westbrook, talking for the first time since reporting to training camp after a one-week holdout, had been seeking a long-term deal after signing a one-year restricted free agent offer for $1.43 million.

"It's just frustrating for me to come to work every day knowing that in the back of my mind I feel kind of disrespected by the offer that I continue to get from the Eagles," he said.

In his three-year career, Westbrook has rushed for 1,618 yards and 10 touchdowns and caught 119 passes for 1,121 yards and 10 TDs.

"I run the ball, I catch the ball, and for this team I am very valuable," Westbrook said. "I think any time a defense or any other team comes in here ... one of the players that they have to stop when they come play the Philadelphia Eagles is Brian Westbrook."

Westbrook skipped the Eagles' post-draft mini-camp and sat out the first week of training camp. He switched agents, from Anthony Agnone to Fletcher Smith, who also represents Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, and was looking for a five-year deal before the start of the season.

Westbrook said the numbers are far apart and two sides have never really come close to reaching an agreement.

The versatile Westbrook is coming off a breakout season in which he led the team with 1,515 total yards and was tops among NFL running backs with 73 catches for 703 yards and six touchdowns, despite sitting out the last two regular-season games. Westbrook was a key part of the Eagles' trip to the Super Bowl and caught a 10-yard touchdown pass in the 24-21 loss to the Patriots.

"I'm still going to come out here and be the best running back I can be," he said.

Uh oh.

Sports Guy's NFL Prediction

Because that's the thing about sleepers: Nobody should be able to predict them. Last year, the Chargers came out of nowhere. The year before, Carolina. In 2001, New England and Chicago. When you hear people throwing the word "sleeper" around for teams like Arizona and Cincy, those are NOT real sleepers. You need to choose someone from this putrid group: Redskins, Giants, Bears, Bucs, Niners, Raiders, Titans, Browns, Bills and Dolphins. I'm telling you, one of those nine teams will make the 2005 playoffs, and everyone is going to say, "Oh my God, how did that happen????"

So here's my pick: The Chicago Bears. Easiest schedule in the league. Inferior division and conference. Underrated running game. One All-Pro receiver in Muhsin Muhammad. A defense that has a chance to crack the top-five, helmed by some playmakers (Briggs, Urlacher, Harris, Tillman) and what could turn out to be the best secondary in the league (now that Mike Brown is back). A sizable home-field advantage, especially in November and December. Very good coach (Lovie Smith) who had them playing hard in October and November until their quarterbacks did them in. And best of all, NOBODY is talking about them. In fact, Sports Illustrated ranked them 32 out of 32.

What's the big problem here? The quarterback. They're playing a fourth-round rookie (Kyle Orton) who's loved by the coaches and players ... but he's still a fourth-round rookie. So here's my question: Even if he's hit-or-miss, it's not like he's going to be much worse than Kyle Boller, Bledsoe, J.P. Losman, Patrick Ramsey or half the crappy starters in the league. Anyway, that's my 2005 sleeper -- I think they're going 10-6 and losing by 30 points in the first round of the playoffs. You heard it here.

(And if they finish 4-12, you didn't hear it here.)

Go Bears

From that Page 2 ESPN article

The Blueboy Award for "Most disarming, unpreventable odor"
Everyone has one friend who quietly locks the windows in the car when he's driving, then passes gas, waits for everyone to say, "Omigod, who did that?" ... only they can't roll down the windows. They eventually freak out from the stench as the driver laughs hysterically. My friend who does this is the Blueboy -- he even quietly turns on the heat when you're not looking to bring the smell to another level. And I guess my point is this: If you're a Packers fan right now, after they brought Mike Sherman back, after that ridiculous draft, after the lifeless preseason, after the way Favre looked ... I mean, can't you see them trying to roll down the windows, screaming in horror and doing anything to get away from that stench right now? That's a 4-12 season waiting to happen. I'll even predict it.

Football fans may hate TO, but you can't deny his contributions to charity:

To My Fellow Americans and Fans around the Nation,

I am sure you share my horror and disbelief over the devastation along the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Never in my wildest dreams could I ever imagine the things I see on television as I watch the coverage of the destruction, the floods and the plight of the hurricane victims.

With the help of NFL Auctions, I am auctioning off my 2004 Philadelphia Eagles NFC Championship ring, in order to raise money for hurricane relief. My hope is that one of you with a generous heart and hopefully a big pocketbook will see this as an opportunity to do your part to help those that have lost everything.

I urge each one of you to place a bid, as much as you can afford for this worthwhile cause. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to hurricane relief. If you don't win this auction I ask you to consider donating the value you were willing to bid directly to the relief effort. Although you didn't win my ring, I believe you will find your generosity just as rewarding.

To my NFL teammates I urge each one of you to do what you can for the victims, be it an auction or monetary donation. Many of us are from the affected states and together we can make a difference.

Sincerely,
Terrell Owens

All superbowl predictions are a joke this time of year.

if he had a superbowl ring i bet he wouldn't sell it

I dont think he would sell it if he played in the nfc championship either. Still its a nice gesture.

"I run the ball, I catch the ball, and for this team I am very valuable," Westbrook said. "I think any time a defense or any other team comes in here ... one of the players that they have to stop when they come play the Philadelphia Eagles is Brian Westbrook."

Hes right. Westbrook is the second most valuable player on this team. I dont know why we cant just pay him. Most eagles fans feel the same. We want him to get his money.

What Scooter said!!! It just wouldn't have been right for GAF to be down at the start of the NFL season!

Holy shit the Raiders came out with this drive and whored the shit out of the Patriots D.
