I wouldn't be surprised to see the 49ers win the division if the other teams keep palying like they did today. Now, there might be a little bias in that statement. ;p

i never understood the hype over Arizona. If signing Kurt Warner is supposed to be some kind of savior for your franchise, you aren't gonna have a good season. That division is going to be like the NL West in baseball.

Denver is actually the worst team in the west, Kansas City might be pretty good. Or the Jets are very, very, very horrible. I'll get back to you on that.

As a Chiefs watcher/expert I'd say it's still a throw up. The Jets made some assinine Center --> QB hand off issues that you have to assume wont happen again. At the same time.. the Chiefs offense during the healthy time destroyed what is probably a top 10 jets D.

It's strange what happened to the Jets, as I believe Kevin Mawae is their center and quite experienced. They had tons of QB fumbles off the snap.. even after swtching to Fiedler he fumbled.

That's it, %$#@ the Saints. Really. This is sickening, and it just started. 16 more weeks of this to go...

EDIT: It's nice they won and all, but the media is wearing it out...and FAST.

Man, if only you heard those announcers in the Saints/Panthers game...gah, I was ready to puke.

is Duce Staley still alive? Bettis misses a game and he didn't do shit. That Parker guy looks like a stud though.

I thought Duce was out with an injury as well?

I did. That's the game Houston chose to air. I went back to doing hwk, it was getting so irritating. :lol

I swear when that game-winning FG went through both those announcers were breathing hard like they just blew their load or something :lol

So true. The media is so wrapped up into this that I am simply watching highlights muted now because I can't take the over-blown love-fest. That and I can't STAND Chris Berman, so muting is awesome.

Oh, go Ravens!

:(

Threw that game away. Bowser, did the refs look as bad on TV as they did in person?

Fuck yes they did, gift-wrapped some of those first downs >:(

edit: the holding call on Wharton was questionable as was the push-off call on Smith. The holding call I can let go though since Smith stepped out of bounds and came back in, but the push-off really shouldn't have been called. Ugh, should've won this game 24-20. Can't dwell on this loss too much, gotta look at the positives (Davis should get a 20-25 carry workload against the Pats, he looked good and Smith is definately back with 8 rec, 138 yds and a TD [shit he caught 4 TD passes, but 2 were out of bounds and one was called an offensive pass interference]).

Duce had his knee cleaned up, minor surgery, but he can be out for a while. I think Parker just needs one more week without Bettis and Staley to cement his place.

By the way, for those who didn't watch-He could have easily had 200 yards. He didn't play at all in the fourth quarter. He had some questionable short yardage runs, but he should be the starter with Bettis in the cleanup role anyway. Staley's the odd man out. I never wanted him anyway!

John Carney of all people get the Game Ball from NFL Primetime? NO .....BS more like it haha.

Yeah, game ball should've definately went to someone who actually performed great, like Willie Parker, and not to a Saints player because of this Katrina pity.

I dunno if you saw this or not Fifty, so:

BTW Fifty, thank you for declining that Leftwich and Minn D for Hasselbeck trade, I would be bashing my head into a wall if that actually went through!

Cowher said Willie's starting next week, even though Bettis and Staley will be able to play. "No reason to make a change," he said. I agree.

Here is my positive spin.

IN 2001 the Bears lost a close defensive game to the number one ranked defensive team the year before, Ravens, on the road. Went on to a 13-3 year.

In 2005 the Bears lose a close defesnive game to the number one ranked defesnive team last year on the road, Washington. Bears future.....?

13-3!

This time we'll beat the Eagles in the playoffs!

I don't know about their future, but I can say that their fans need to learn some basic facts about the past. Pittsburgh was number 1 in both points and yards allowed last year, not Washington.

49ers first in the NFC West?! *explodes*

I know, what the fuck man? What is this world coming to? :lol

Chief and 49ers winning today made me happy. 9ers must have made a deal with the devil to come out looking that good today.

The Saint's "America's Team" thing is a highly annoying. They got lucky today but I don't see them going to the Superbowl. Fuck that noise.

Number one NFC rated defense last year asspants.

You will not destroy the dream!

An update on Jamal Lewis... oh lord... what now...

Did you hear he went to prison? I dont know if you knew, but he went to prison. Yup, Jamal Lewis went to prison.

JAMAL LEWIS WENT TO PRISON!

I agree, even Boomer and TJ were giving the Saints a major handjob. I mean yeah, nice story but damn!!! And yeah, I'm in SC so of course I got the game. Their gushing over Saints even put Joe Theisman's perpetual man-crush on Brett Favre to shame...and thats saying something.

It was funny how Primetime tried to stick with that "spiritual" theme...By playing the Saints, Giants, and Ninesr highllights back to back to back.. Saints inspired by katrina, Giants in NY by 9/11, and Niners by Thomas Herrion. Thought I was watching Lifetime for a minute there,.

I really want to watch this game, but I don't know if I can stomach any more of this ESPN coverage. The only good thing about it is the AC/DC tunes. Actually, they should just play AC/DC throughout the whole game and mute the three buffoons.

omg indy with an int?

edit: guys I just had chinese and my fortune cookie says "you will hear pleasant news"! yes, I'm going to hear that Tom Brady broke his leg and will be out for the year and that the Saints paid the refs off! woo!

Interception! :D

Any bets on how long it will take Manning to get to the end zone?

I've got my money on 2 minutes.

InsecureKillah: BOLLER OH SHIT
mrbob2k1: OMG
mrbob2k1: MVP
mrbob2k1: he'll throw int
mrbob2k1: now
mrbob2k1: next pas
mrbob2k1: s
mrbob2k1: WHAT DID I TELL YOU

Oh yeah.

How pretty is that?

I'm watching The Giants vs Saints game next week for the SOLE reason to see John Madden illustrate Hurricane Katrina doing damage with his marker.

LMMMFAO....@ Ed Reed giving Reggie Wayne a cheap shot, realizing he just hit a fellow Miami alum and helping him up..

So I pick a team I think will go 6-10 or 7-9 on week one, on the road, in an eliminator league.

Anybody want to buy some crack? Apparently I've got an over-abundance.

Some early revisions to my preseason thoughts:

Denver is actually the worst team in the west, Kansas City might be pretty good. Or the Jets are very, very, very horrible. I'll get back to you on that.

Philly isn't just going to win the NFC, they're going to clinch home field advantage by next Monday.

Was I saying something about having worries with the Steelers offense? Must've been the crack talking.

JJ Arrington...how quickly can I drop him in my fantasy league? Ah, that quickly.

Washington and Chicago still suck. Just wanted to point that out.

The Rams and the 49ers also both still suck. And I'm still half-retarded for picking the Rams in the eliminator group. And Arizona can still win that division at 7-9, as I predicted earlier.

I didn't get to see the game, but if you'd told me that the Lions would score 17, I'm pretty sure that about two hundred and seventy fifth on my list of predictions for the game would be "Packers lose by two touchdowns." The personal tragedy/Brett Favre playing out of his head connection has officially been severed.

Also, Eli Manning is still the fourth best QB out of last year's draft.

Don't think I'll let you get away with that one friend.

Code:
E. Manning	10/23	172	2	2
B. Roethlisberger	9/11	218	2	0

Seems like a lobsided matchup at first glance, but don't be fooled.

Eli threw two ints, yes, but how did they occur? David Tyree let a ball bounce off his hands and into the hands of Karlos Dansby. A rookie lineman that was subbed in for the injured Kareem McKenzie let pro-bowler Chike Okeafor sky over him and tip a pass that was caught again by Dansby. Really, not even his fault. Plax had a key drop on a long pass, Tyree dropped a couple, and yeah, maybe he underthrew a couple of passes. The initial pass to Shockey was a beauty, and the other TD pass to Burress was perfectly placed. For a guy that was behind a line that was getting OWNED all day, that had their best player injured and benched for the rest of the game, Eli did pretty well.

Ben, on the otherhand had a pretty bad game if you saw it. 48 yards on a screen pass that Willie Parker had to use his amazing catch skills because of Ben's bad throw. The Tennessee defender fell down on the long pass to Randle El. The fact that Ben only threw 11 times should set bells off. His team was dominating enough for him, and then there were the miscues by the TEN D... or lack there of I should say.

So in week 1, I'd have to give the edge to Eli. Made big plays when he had to, while Ben got lucky with the team he is playing for and the team he went against. Eli beat the "Fast Break Defense" while Ben had to play against a D that could barely tackle.

That is the most unbiased analysis of two football players I have ever seen.

EVER.

God dammit, not even a TD for Indy.

WTF were they thinking running up the middle on that play? Not against that D.

Whatever makes you sleep at night. But know that 'burger is still the better QB.
