everyone says "freeny will kill smith!" well wtf would he have done to rattay then? at least smith has SOME mobility, and he's just young enough to realize he's not supposed to be winning.

49ers - 42
colts - 3

alex smith - 25/26, 467 yards, 6 td's, 0 ints (his 1 incompletion will be a spike of the ball to stop the clock with 1 second remaning on the clock so we can run up the score on the colts, peyton cries)

count it you stupid bitches.... COUNT IT!!!!!!!!

He's missed one snap in his whole career due to injury from the broken jaw and he's a pussy? Btw, I think you have your score/stat predictions backwards.

Acutally Comparing him to Steve Young doesnt sound to bad. Pretty close.
if I see one more commentator comparing him to Doug Williams i'm gonna get pissed. anyone notice ESPN comparing him to Doug Williams quite a bit?

Martz and Holmgren should both be fired.

Seriously, I have to know who in their right mind thinks dallas will beat the eagles. Did you miss the first 4 weeks of the season? I would be shocked if this was still a game by halftime.

Fuck you Ninja. Leave my boy Andy alone.

That's because Reid has found a weight-loss strategy that's working for him and he's already shed 45 pounds with the L A Weight Loss program.

45 lbs. Already. If Gibbs did that, he would go into a coma. Andy Reid would beat the shit out of him and take his lunch money.

Nov 6th. Book it. Andy is gonna take his lunch money in front of 90 Thousand people.

Please, I almost never make predictions about the Eagles for fear of jinksing them. The only time I do is when im 100% sure of a victory. This game will be over by halftime.

I think it could be a huge upset. On paper and logically the eagles should smoke 'em... but football is anything but paper stats once you're on the field.

This is our first divisonal game and its the Cowboys. If you think the Eagles will let down for this one your out of your freaking mind.

Edit: Not to mention the fact that our defense is tailor made for QBs like Drew Bledsoe. He is going to die if Dallas gets down early.

Rams' Martz to miss practice with infection

NFL.com wire reports

ST. LOUIS (Oct. 5, 2005) -- St. Louis Rams coach Mike Martz has an infection of the heart that will require treatment with antibiotics and keep him out of practice for a couple of days.

"I haven't been feeling good for four or five weeks and there is some type of infection in my body that has gotten worse," Martz said. "They think they've identified what it is."

Martz, 54, said doctors believe he has endocarditis, a bacterial infection of the heart's inner lining or the heart valve. Martz will undergo a series of blood cultures over the next week to confirm the diagnosis.

Treatment involves taking antibiotics over a long period of time, Martz said.

"This is something that if you let it go, it could become a real issue," Martz said.

Martz was hospitalized Sept. 30 with what doctors believed was a sinus infection. He was released the next day and coached the Rams on Oct. 2 in their 44-24 loss to the New York Giants.

Martz said he would continue to do some scripting and game planning in the morning the next few days, but planned to go home before practice begins. Joe Vitt, the assistant head coach and linebackers coach, ran practice last week in Martz's absence.

Martz, who had back surgery earlier this year, said fatigue was the most noticeable symptom of the infection. "You feel really good and then in the course of a couple hours you hit rock bottom," he said.

Bacterial endocarditis affects 10,000 to 20,000 Americans each year. If the valves are damaged enough, endocarditis can cause strokes, require open heart surgery, and even be fatal, said Dr. Arthur Labovitz, director of cardiology at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

Martz joined the Rams as offensive coordinator in 1999, and his high-powered offense led St. Louis to its first Super Bowl title that season. He became head coach following Dick Vermeil's retirement days just after the Super Bowl.

Now in his sixth season, Martz is 56-35 including the postseason. The Rams have missed the playoffs just once in his tenure (2002) and reached the Super Bowl after the 2001 season, losing 20-17 to New England.

The Rams (2-2) are tied with Seattle for first place in the NFC West.

sounds really serious, hope hes gonna be ok. i remember there was talk of him being too sick to coach the niner game too, he needs to take it easy for awhile.

You know one of the groups of patients how get endocarditis? IV drug users. Usually, in medicine, we try to find one cause for all the symptoms. Drugs is the only reason to explain the play calling and decision making for Martz. First L Little is on the sauce. Now look at Martz.

why would we want lovie back? theres a reason we let him walk.

What reason? Because it was the illogical thing to do? Seems to be the reason Martz goes by ;p

lovies defenses sucked just as much as the ones we have now. the only good year was 2001, but thats when we had that offense that made other teams pass all game to catch up.

Yeah, the reason you "let" him leave was because he was offered a head coaching position and you had no choice. It's not like he was fired and then went scrambling for a job, half the teams with open positions were interested in him. Denial is fun though, and I'm sure you've got it down to an art after putting up with Martz for years.

The fact that his defense was anywhere near the top half in the league was ridiculous considering how many turnovers that offense hands away.

no the fact is, his defenses were too small, and could be run over at will. the db's also allowed recievers huge cushions at all times and QB's could push the ball downfield whenever they wished. the saving grace with lovie smith is that his defenses managed to force a lot turnovers. when they didnt do that, you have results like the carolina playoff game.

also fyi, martz wanted a bigger defense, kinda like parcells did. this is why we let lovie walk. martz and smith are good friends, theyve coached together for quite awhile. lovie would have stayed another season if martz asked him to.

sorry archaix, i actually know a little something about what really goes on with the rams, i dont absorb all my knowledge from terry bradshaw like yourself

First of all, Terry Bradshaw's a dumbass. Just to clear the air, there. I know that you're still upset about the whole Bulger thing, but you've got to notice that I'm among the few level-headed football fans here.

Lovie Smith's defensive strength was obviously forcing turnovers. While it is risky, it was pretty much the only option he had. You can't rely on stopping teams when the offense turns it over so much, or you end up with a season like 2002 where they gave up very few yards but a hell of a lot of points, respective to the rest of the league. He wasn't an incredible defensive coordinator, but he was far better than what they have now. Regardless, very few defensive coaches could do anything when they have to deal with Martz's offense. I think Smith's marginal success was impressive, and it was clear that he was going to get a head coaching job. If Martz begged him, he may have stayed, but it's not as though the Rams disguarded him and then he was hired. He was still on Martz's staff when he was offered the Bears job, so they clearly wanted him at least somewhat.
