Yikes that shot to a Wild player is brutal. So close to hitting his throat but fortunately he moved just enough to avoid a direct hit. That would have been a pretty bad injury and we don't need another serious injury in the league.

Oh looky

Talk aboat having extra games in the bank all you want Calgary and Chicago, I don't care. Kings are on a roll and we're still waiting for Smyth to get back.

I'm extremely happy for LA, the fans deserve it and the team needs to do well for the NHL to succeed in the USA.

I hope they make the playoffs and do well (just not at the Canucks' expense) :D

Also - please switch to the LA third jerseys full time. Canucks need to do the same too.

Ugh both teams' regular home and away jerseys are ugly as fuck.

I seriously had no idea the Kings were at the top of the West until tonight. Damn, gotta look at the rankings more often :lol

Congrats.

Grats to the Kings, you guys have a good team.

Can't say the same for the Sharks right now. They're defining the word "slump."

Didn't know that you're in Vancouver as well. There's a lot of Vancouverites here in GAF :O

North Van Represent!
And yeah, there's a lot of Vancouver people on GAF for some reason. :P

Well, this is their first night there.

IN FACT, this must be the first night since, what, 90-91(?) where the Kings have topped the Western conference?

Btw, how do the Kings have such a sick record with a goal difference of FIVE??

+1 as of March (from Australia) next year.

NHL-age bar and hockey viewing meetup imo.
Right in time for the playoffs! ...oh wait... Ducks fan. ;)

Have you always followed the Ducks from down there, though? That's pretty strange

it fucking sucks that bergfors cant play olympics thanks to our moronic coach
Can hardly call him moronic. Bergfors was completely unknown when he had to select that first roster. Who knew he would break out like this? Blame the stupid rules.

Well then! Good thing that:

I dont care about olympics. I care about the World Juniors which starts in a few weeks. Besides Sweden already has their olympic gold.

Anyway, whatever. What's the story?

Funny that Tavares won't even make the team, despite having almost a point per game. Canada is way too deep at the center position. Thornton, Crosby, Richards, Getzlaf, Marleau, Stamkos, Carter, Richards, Teows, (Eric) Staal, Stastny... yeesh.

oh comon, he added like 20-30 SEL players on the list who have no chance of being there. He could atleast added the AHL players as well.

Anyway, whatever. What's the story?

I still prefer world juniors, but i will watch olympics

Stastny is an American.

"They never quit", praised Caps' star Alexander Ovechkin , who dazzled at times with a goal and two assists. "Those guys always skate hard, they forecheck hard. They might not be the most talented team, but they never give up."

I picture Manics reading that with a smug look on his face...

I have to hand it to Ovechkin. Despite being a dirty player he's a very underrated passer. Not all about being a goal hog with him, he was making some beautiful tape to tape passes last night. Dude's a complete player. If he ever cleans up the dirty aspect of his game I'll respect him all the more.

Maybe if I just randomly yell out "HELLO GAF !" in the middle of downtown Vancouver, I'll get a response by a GAF member :lol

Hoping the 'Hawks can get out of this funk they've been in against the Lightning tonight.
You think you guys are in a funk? We just lost 5 in a row with the last 3 to division rivals.

Ah yeah. He wouldn't make our team anyhow! ;) But somehow I prefer that he'll be on the US squad. The idea of the competition actually having quality teams makes the Olympics far more exciting. Facing guys like Parise, Kane, Kessel, Stastny, Miller... they should have a decent D-core, too.

Weird burn attempt! For one, you've just burned yourself, if you didn't fucking realize it. That makes you seem even more bitter.

I noticed that too. Basically more blowout losses than blowout wins (7-0 loss to Atlanta last month) and lots of one goal wins lately.

It was just a light hearted comment you weren't supposed to think too much about. Obviously we're all Gaf posters. I don't pretend to be a master of wit or humour, but I can still try.

I could've used a wink, Dr. Guru. :(

Longest 5 on 3 ever... ....Time to score!

My connection is so bad right now:(
Tampa was excellent on their PK in that sequence. Almost 5 minutes shorthanded with 2 long 5-on-3's. Chicago had some good shots though. Hopefully Kane is ok. He hit his head on the ice pretty hard.

Any sabres fan that can fill me out on why Vanek goalscoring has gone down? And any signs on it being on the way up again?

He hasn't been the same since coming back after getting his jaw broken last season. He isn't in front of the net nearly as much, nor does he seem to be working quite as hard to make plays. We've also been playing a D-first, puck-possession system this year, pretty much to the 'T', so there hasn't been nearly as much room to wheel and deal on offense this year. Vanek will only start scoring more when he gets in front of the net consistently, so until that happens I'd expect him to keep up his current pace.
