Tavares: wut?

And as for all the manfucatured bs speculation about the draft (atleast by TSN), isles are going to draft tavares, and burke isn't going to move up all that much if at all.

Colorado just rejected Burkes last offer it was something like Smyth, 3rd, Foote for 7th, Toskala, Hagman, White or Stralman. They apparently wanted a conditional 1st incase Toskala doesn't play 30 games but Burke said no.

Also the dumbass in Atlanta has confirmed he and Burke have been talking Trade.

Yeah, my original post was said with tongue firmly in cheek. Trade rumours are crazy right now. Whether any of them actually happen, this is certainly the most exciting draft + free agency period for Canucks fans in a while (barring the Luongo trade).

No outdoor game in Calgary.

"In addition to the offer received earlier this afternoon, sources say the Toronto Maple Leafs have also heard from at least three other teams who have checked in and asked Leafs GM, Brian Burke to name his price."

Man if Kaberle is ever traded it is going to be now.

Rumour also has it that Luongo has agreed to a long-term extension which will be announced on July 1st.

Canucks should try to get Cammalleri, Heatly, or one of those new prospects through trades if it will get them better offense.

C'mon Burke, either you do something awesome before the draft is done or you will feel the never ending wrath of Leafs Nation (TM)

Double-B will not disappoint. Leaf haters will be crying bitter tears by next week.

Dreger's twitter says J-Bo (or rather his rights) is expected to be traded tonight.

Eklund seems 90% sure he's off to Vancouver, not sure whether to be happy (would be great) or sad (it's Eklund) about this :lol

I hope Hossa doesnt sign for detroit, he did nothing in the finals.
If the price is right, it's stupid not to sign him.
Can you imagine the pressure that was on him in the playoffs and especially in the finals?

BRUINS OFFER KESSEL TO LEAFS FOR KABERLE AND NO. 7 PICK
BOB MCKENZIE
6/26/2009 8:29:30 AM

The Boston Bruins are in pursuit of Tomas Kaberle and a top 10 pick in today's draft.

Sources tell TSN the Bruins have offered restricted free agent forward Phil Kessel to Toronto in exchange for Leaf defenceman Kaberle and Toronto's No. 7 pick in today's draft.

The Leafs are apparently canvassing the league to see if there are any better offers out there.

Kessel, taken fifth overall by the Bruins in 2006, scored 36 goals and 60 points last season, his third campaign in the NHL. With restricted free agent David Krejci signed to a long-term deal and the team pushed up against next year's salary cap, general manager Peter Chiarelli was rumoured to be shopping the young scorer.

Kaberle completed his 10th season with the Maple Leafs in 2008-09 and has two years left on his contract worth $4.25 million a season. The contract also enables his no-trade clause to be temporarily lifted with the commencement of the draft tonight.

Details to follow.

Baaad. Kessel's not worth it.

Will I be able to stream the draft anywhere? I kind of doubt shitty ESPN is gonna give it any coverage. Ahh, to be back in Canada with hockey and garbage.

I think the pick and maybe a 3rd liner is fair for Kessel. To throw in Kaberle is a little steep, unless it is a huge benefit with cost savings to the Leafs...

Damn I wish the Pens could somehow land Kessel as he would be MONEY with Sid. But it never would work with the salary cap.

I would rather trade Kaberle for more picks then trade him and #7 for Kessel, Kessels extension will probably end up costing up to 5 million.

Also :lol :lol :lol :lol at Brian Lawton having to send an email to say he is the only one who can make trades, wtf is wrong with Barrie and Koules.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
I've been hearing the Kessel-Kaberle rumors for a while now, but haven't paid much attention to them. It would be tough to lose Kessel, but he really just doesn't fit into the mold of a Bruin. He is way too shy anywhere but the offensive zone and does not fight for the puck. Great skater and hell of a goal scorer, though... I think he could really flourish somewhere else.

Both the Globe & Mail and Boston.com are saying the #7 is not in the Kessel - Kaberle deal. I would like to believe this but obviously McKenzie is way more credible then both of them. It is a little interesting because when Burke was asked yesterday he did say it was Kaberle for a major player and a pick.

I think I'd sooner believe Eklund than Burke over what's actually going on. He'll say just about anything to get leverage, truth or no truth.

I would take that if I was the Leafs. I hate it as a Sens fan since I would prefer the Leafs to get worse and for Kessel to get out of the division :lol

Kaberle and 7th for Kessel? You leafs fans are crazy if you don't want to take that deal!

That one's not happening. It's supposed to be Kabby for Kessel and a pick that isn't this year's first-rounder.

That's even better!

I think most Leafs fans would do the deal, but who knows what Kessel would command in a contract extension. Also I don't think Kaberle can be traded till 7 anyway.

Anyone know if Bettman is going to do the same hting as last year, interupting and announcing any trades that happen during the draft?

Atlanta is supposedly offering #4 and Hainsey for Kaberle.

question begs at that point... should they trade #4 and #7 for #1 or 2? or would that be too much of a risk? they're all pretty high picks

R_GILL

I wouldn't. Kane could end up being the best player in the draft when it is all said and done.
