Kobun Heat said:I thought I'd gotten a handle on the game, but now all I keep reading about is "the twist." I just bagged Measley, the one who takes over the farm -- am I close to "the twist"?
eso76 said:No.
And who said the game feels very short ?? I'm a couple hours past the 'twist', i can't tell how many hours it's been since the beginning, but it sure felt very 'long' in that so many things happened, i walked through so many different and huge areas..
Later on the game becomes much more fun, mostly because all weapons get actually useful and you'll start using them all (i got to the 'twist' using mostly zapflies, bees and good old fists).
What slightly bothered me is, it shows there's a few things which were originally meant to be different in the mind of the designers.
Those who didn't get to the 'twist' yet might not want to read the spoiler:
The way you get powered up ammo, with the natives rushing to give (?) them to you, for example and the new armours after the twist: you receive them all in such a short time and for free, it's pretty pointless having designed 3 of them.
Originally, you were probably meant to buy them yourself from the General Stores - There's an "armour" option but all you can buy is some kind of leather glove at the beginning, nothing else
The engine and the beauty of the scenery is simply amazing; i think everyone should see this game to the end.
IJoel said:I finished the game just an hour ago or so and was so floored by it. I'll write up something better later, but I simply loved it.
That said, the game felt somewhat short. I didn't count the hours, but I'd guess it took me 12-15 hours to beat the game. It might've taken me more, but frankly, since the game was so fun it felt the time just flew by.
Huge props to Lorne Lanning. The game's a gem.
Truelize said:Did anyone get the bonus DVD that was available with some pre-orders? If so what did it contain?
IJoel said:It contains all of the Oddworld series pre-rendered cinematics as well as 2 area playthroughs by Lorne Lanning.
Truelize said:Worth buying on ebay??? Doesn't seem like it but I would like to see it.

Musashi Wins! said:Wow...this game is really fun. It had to grow on me a little after a couple hours, but it's top notch. Really interesting to look at most the time and often quite funny. I love the villagers reactions to beatings. The ammo really is a fun novelty. If I'm going to get sequels most the time, be sure to make them as great as they have been lately!
jedimike said:I was waiting for you to get this... now that you said it was good, I'll go pick it up. Your Xbox collection has to be pretty damn big now.
jedimike said:Anymore, those 10 hour games are perfect for me. I have a hard time finishing any game over 20 hours. I just don't have the time for it... and it's sad to say, but I lose interest because it takes so long for me to finish a game.
Kotor... shelved, not finished.
Kotor II... shelved, not finished.
Fable... shelved and finished.
Guess which one I liked best... Fable.

Make sure to press X for Stranger's comment while you're on the mission...Truelize said:But that's all for now. I'm about to take out "Yo Mamma" :lol Best boss name ever? I think so
Truelize said:Dang I shot him with the Boombat and then went at him with a charged up Fly and the Thud Slugs and unfortunatly killed him. So you shot him with just the Boombat??
Fixed2BeBroken said:my bad, i shot him with the boombat to get him Off of the ledge or whatever, then when he was on the ground, I switched to the thudslug and just shot him with a thud slug, and then the electric shock inf ammo gun(forgot what its called) , then thud slug, then the electric shock crap, thud slug, electrick shock crap...etc....in that order and eventually he will dizzy and u can just bag him alive.
doing it that makes it so much easier....if you dont do it that way, its almost impossible to stop him
peace
3. This is, perhaps, the best implementation of a 3rd person/1st person hybrid. It is very well done and the transitions from/to each camera type are seamless and work excellently. Not only it works for dealing with combat, but it adds a layer of depth to it since you have melee moves while on 3rd person perspective.
