Yes, somewhat of a self-indicting topic, but still-- voice all of your complaints about the recent proliferation of "official X, Y, and Z" topics here. Why are all topics now official?

Mods, feel free to delete this topic if it's deemed to be in poor taste, but please don't ban me. :P That'd be some sort of record-- well, outside of Morphix, at least. ;)

Like Bill Clinton once remarked about abortion: I hope that official topics will one day be both safe and rare. ;)

As it stands, they're running amok, threatening the safety of innocent forum-goers. A grave situation indeed, and one which must be remedied with all haste. Or not. :P

<removes tongue from cheek> :)~

Remember that quick cross over, hop, and dunk move from the 1998 Finals? Awesome move! He was freaking 35-36 years old!

:lol i was going to make the same kind of thread but decide to do an official french open thread instead

So instead of being part of the solution, you decided to be part of the problem? For shame, milhouse, for shame... ;)

i'm just wondering who'll be responsible for the first substantial post on the new forums. so far it's an abundance of giddy gamefaqs shite. most prominently the argosy of "official" offal. reno's tekken topic doesn't count, cos it's about tekken, and tekken is inherently ridiculous.

won't be me. i don't post substantially. i post insubsantially. it's my style.

No shit. I'm tired of it already. It makes sense for a few things, but every freaking topic? Hurts the eyes. And this forum doesn't need any user added eye hurt.

I don't mind "official" threads, considering I'm guilty of making them myself for MMA events.

But they're not nearly as annoying as people who bump two month-old threads without adding anything worthwhile to them. Banned!

Ahh, come on. That's not bannable. Especially when I'm trying to expand people's vocabluary.
I mean, can you think of any other word that can be used to refer to a fleet of ships or a supply of anything? Argosy is probably one of my all time favorite words and this was the first time I've ever seen it used in GAF. Dhrone is awesome in my book forever.

Loki come home.

I can only be enticed into returning hither with copious amounts of dinero. Or T-bone steaks. Whichever you happen to have handy. :P

"Hey, is that a Porterhouse steak in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

"Well, actually..."

:D

<dodges the tomatoes and skulks away>

Hah, that reminds me of that Seinfeld ep where George wants everybody at work to call him "T-Bone", but they end up spontaneously calling his co-worker that instead. :P

EDIT: Btw, my favorite word combo is actually the name of a work by William Wordsworth: "Elegiac Stanzas". Don't recall much about it since I read it during my junior year of HS, except that "elegiac" has something to do with the meter-- I always thought the title sounded so ethereal, though. "Plenum" and "plenary" (same root) are also pretty cool if you ask me. :P Words rock.
