Got a question. My XMB background is now green, it used to be blue or purple...what's the deal with that? Does it change every month?

Is Sony in my PS3 changing my backgrounds?

Changes every month.
 
The colour changes from month to month (although mine only just went totally green?!?)
and color to black is the day to night cycle
 
The background has a 12 different colors, overlapping 2 months. In the middle of each month, it changes into the the next color.
And finally, during the day, it changes from black (dawn) to color (day) to black (dusk).

January: white -> broken white -> yellow
February: yellow -> yellow-green -> green
March: groen -> brown-green -> pink
April: pink -> purple-blue -> dark green
May: dark green -> light purple -> purple
June: purple -> light blue -> light blue-green
July: light blue-green -> turquoise blue -> blue
August: blue -> dark blue -> light purple
September: light purple -> orange-red -> orange
Oktober: orange -> orange-brown -> brown
November: brown -> red -> dark red
December: dark red -> brownish pink -> white
 
Hmm, I believe I've seen someone posting a similar issue before, but cant find it. i've just bought full lemmings game of german store, and it downloaded only some 134KB shit and full game do not appear to be there. :p i've deleted the demo and redownloaded that 134KB shit again of my download list, but game is just not there. Any ideas?

You should download both those files. Dunno why demo doesnt show up any more. Is it in the download list?

well i find the green background awful, but yes it's a nice touch. it would be even better with the ability to personalize it

I'd like if I could do a short video as a background. Kind of expanding on the ICON stuff (which I like a lot) and akin to Vista. It totally fits the XMB/Playstation classic and expensive look. That Vista waterfall looping background was amazing.

you have to download and install the Starter Pack/Demo FIRST, then buy the full version which unlocks everything in the Starter Pack.
 
Redownloaded both startpack and activation stuff and it worked this time. Wife is happy. :)
No idea why it didnt work out from the start, but its working now. Can see all levels.
 
I see Amazon.co.uk having the PS3 priced neatly at 399$ now. Not that it's the cheapest we've heard of but it's nice to see a larger chain go under the 400 barrier.

Hey guys, I just got my e-mail confirmation today that I will be receiving Casino Royale BR...which I already got last week..huh? Sony is either fast or slow.

Been noticing a few times that when I turn my PS3 off after a long uptime period, it makes some lil "cracks" sounds, usually during a minute or so.

Anyone else getting this ?

I guess this is just plastic or whatever stuff cooling down, nothing to worry about, but... :/
 
i noticed it too, i think itll do no harm, i havent had any chugging or freezing, seems like its indeed just the plastic cooling down.
 
Ok, so, I've downloaded the Lemmings and Rub a dub demos a loooong while ago (when they were released on the EU PSS), and today I just decided to buy both games. DL and installingwent fine, but for both games it looks like it's still the demo. I can't play the full game.

Like, what the hell ? :/

I'd suggest to redownload the demos. I think both demos were replaced with updated versions on the PSN so you might need to redownload both to get the new keys to unlock them (it sounds a bit weird but give it a try).

Really ? Well, I bought Lemmings and SRaD yesterday, and even if the "offer price" stuff banner disappeared, when I added the games to my cart there was a screen saying that the low prices were running until the end of june.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try tonight. I guess the best thing to do will be to uninstall both games, redownload the demos and then redownload the full game patch right ?
 
K uninstalled both games, redownloaded the new demo packs (yeah their name has changed) and the full game patches and works perfectly.

I wonder if we'll ever know how many PS3s Sony will manage to sell in countries like Russia or India. Could indeed be potentially big share.
especially now when 80% of russian x360 users banned from Live cause of modding :p

Loved the PS3 once they released the Slim and got the ball rolling. At launch it was a bit of a disaster. What a recovery though.

My favourite ever Sony console.

Mad to think they were giving away Casino Royale, can't believe Craig was Bond for so long.

I remember walking in to my brother's bedroom, who bought it day one, and being staggered by the absolute size of the thing. And we'd had a 360. It was comically large (or so I thought).

I loved the original PS3 it was my return to consoles since the original XBOX. The original PS3 had a premium look and feel to it which I loved, every other PS3 revision after that looked cheap and tacky in my opinion.
 
Before the thread is locked I wanna say that the PS3 was probably the worst hardware Sony has made the past 2 decades, nearly bankrupting them and holding the industry back with their stupid architecture. Rest in Piss.

What a shit take.Held the industry back? Right...thats why the entire gaming community from PC and 360 were foaming at the mouth port begging when Uncharted 2,3,Killzone 2,3 and God of War 3 came out.In the begining the PS3's architecture was hard to understand but once devs understood it it was running circles on the 360 while MS were too busy fondling the kinect tiger's balls.
