yay, finally got my confirmation mail for CR ! \o/

45 days from launch won't be soon tho, since it seems it'll be out in France atthe end of May <_<


btw, why the hell do Norway, Sweden and Denmark have a March release date ? UNFAIR

Well considering that some here had a mail DAYS ago, I'm sure yours will come soon enough.

Dunno if it's related, but I've done the registration on their website, too (the one requiring the PS3's serial number etc)

I don't remember going thru an activation process on the XMB tho as Goldrusher mentionned (unless it just does the exact same thing than when you just register it on first boot)

I can't get it too run, for some reason. I just get a message with lots of kanji that I can't read, and pressing all the buttons on the controller doesn't do anything. Got any pointers?
 
The first time you run it, it downloads something (some rss news?) and at the end you have to restart it with the PS button, if that is where it gives you problems.

got the game now too
its awesome offline and online
so add me for some online racing if you want

So I finally ordered a PS3 off Amazon, it's coming on Tuesday and I'm connecting it to and HDCP Samsung monior so I just bought an HDMI -> DVI (Male-Male, HDCP Certified Lead) for £30 ($60) and I bought a new surge protector ( my friend got an electionic spike breaking his HDTV, computer and his PS3).

I bought Resistance but my question is what other 2 games should I get and I'm into anything as long its not a borefest.

Also would the HDMI -> DVI lead work if its HDCP enabled?

I don't know what kind of games you prefer, but I'd say VF5 and MotorStorm. Or save some money for Oblivion later this month, I guess.

You should get GripShift from the PLAYSTATION Store.
Also Motorstorm and/or RR7 imho.

Anyone knows why they removed Super Rub a Dub from the store btw? At least both the game and the demo disappeared from the italian store.
I still think it sucks as a game, but I've had my mother play a bit with it and she found it to be fun, so I was thinknig about purchasing it with Go! Sudoku, but since it disappeared I ended up only getting the sudoku.
 
But I didn't buy the game, and it is nowhere to be found on the store anymore as well as the demo, while demos for other games I downloaded still show up for me.
The only conclusion possible is that it was removed.
 
yeah, they removed it when they updated the store with Go! Sudoku. I noticed the demo had disappeared, but i thought the game itself was still there, seems it's not.
in fact, i just checked and i can't find it on the US store either.

Feel free to add our PSN Sidhe.

We finally got our retail PS3 at the studio and grabbed GripShift, so members of the dev team have been playing online from time to time (and getting schooled by various GripShifters).

Never knew cables had to be HDCP certified.
At least my HDMI<->DVI cable doesn't mention it at all, and it works perfectly.
 
holy crap! Uh... guess what showed up in the mail today, from the UK?

My euro copy of Casino Royale. I live in the U.S., and pre-registered a PSN id via the site a while ago so I could have access to the store when it launched. I happened to use my real Address/postal code when I registered and just swapped US for UK, and it somehow found its way here. Very weird, but cool.

So, sorry for taking one of your copies :)
 
Ach nein. My folks back in Norway haven't received it yet but when they do I still will have to wait for them to send it over here (Australia) which should take a extra two weeks or so.

Well, there's no use for actually having it right? Sell it on Ebay! I'm pretty sure some unlucky European would like to have it. I'm already sure of a copy, which should arrive probably around some time next week.

The Euro version is actually region free :) And I didn't have a copy yet (I prefer to rent), so I'm not complaining.

I registered my ps3 on PSN on launch day and I still haven't even gotten an e-mail. :(
 
I registered my NTSC-J on the day after PAL launch day and got no email but I got a region free copy of Casino Royale in the mail last week :D

Anybody having problems with PS3 displaying widescreen PS2 games properly?

I'm playing on a monitor that has an 'aspect' mode which keeps the aspect ratio of the signal but when I switch a game, like God of War, to widescreen it just appears stretched but not widescreen. Another mode on my monitor seems to display it correctly, or maybe part of it is stretched, I don't know.. I just want to know if anybody is having problems with this. I have a US PS3 btw so I guess BC is different. Nobody is posting in the US launch thread though so I'm asking here. :p

I don't think the PS2 is capable of sending a real widescreen signal at all, and that carried over to the PS3 BC. It's the same thing with the Wii--you're going to have to change the monitor's ratio to see it displayed in widescreen.
 
Did you register two accounts? I did because of the confusion over what you had to do if you had registered in Nov. I know sorting out the duplicates might take time, but this is taking the piss
 
Super rub a dub is back on PLAYSTAION Store (Demo and game), if anyone is interested.
Lemmings still MIA (at least the Demo, dunno about the game as I wouldn't be able to see it even if it was there, altho the key to unlock the demo without the demo would be pointless, wouldn't it?).
 
god i love sony for this.. come home this afternoon to a shiny black and red package.. opened it up and its casino royalé blu ray, despite no confirmation email. A nice system update too.. good day to own a playstation 3 :D
 
SCEE hates everyone, give it a rest. on a related note; a friend of mine recently bought a ps3 and motorstorm and call of duty. He was seeeeeriously disappointed that there weren't any split-screen multi-player; is it being phased out that fast? What games(out now and releasing soon) have split-screen multi?
