* She's a woman, and "everybody knows" women don't play PS3?
* She has a New Zealand or Australian accent, and "everybody knows" the PS3 bombed over there?
* She's listed as representing a website?

I'm Australian and today I walked into my local Kmart. I wandered to the gaming section to see a large sign that read 'PS3 Sold Out'. I was sad.

PS3 does look pretty nice next to my TV.. Damn its huge though.. and already full of fingerprints. :/

I bought that exact same keyboard yesterday.
Awesome!!

Does go very nice with PS3 for some reason. :D Just wish it had bluetooth now when the new firmware supports BT mouses and keyboards. :(

Theres so much negativity from the Australian launch. Even proper news sites have the PS3 BBQ Grill with a picutre of Ken there :lol

Aussies, which had the worse launch. The Original Xbox or the PS3?

Microsoft stimulated sales by dropping the price, and offering early adopters 2 free games and a extra controller.

Will Sony go that route one wonders?

Did you read the first post on this page? In contrast my wife walked into the same store the day the Wii was released and bought one without a preorder. That has proved a waste of money so far.

Got my ps3.

Have to play it on my old non-hd tv right now. Resistence and motorstorm still look great. PS3 is a huge beast etc.

Problem: I have a monitor with DVI/HDCP etc. I have a X2VGA2 adapter to switch between ps3 and pc. When I connect everything up I get a OUT OF RANGE signal. Any ideas what the prob is. One thing is that I havent connected the DVI to the PC (dont have a slot for it haha), but I connected the VGA from the PC to the X2VGA2. The pc was working etc, but the ps3 doesnt. The x2VGA2 works so that you dont even need to use the DVI I think. Any ideas how I can get a signal?

peace

The real question is, what's that Axe doing on the table?!
I keep my PS3 horizontal as well, just like with PS2, as I feel better in regards to the DVDs/BDs i put in there

Listening to music I see. Have you tried the actual visualizer (should be an option in the triangle menu)? It's absolutely stunning to behold. It's the reason why I enjoy using the PS3 for music.

Yeah I was playing with the visualiser last night. Amazing, really trippy too.

Oh and for the UK at least, they've been pissing about with the PlayStation website over the past 2 days, seems there's a front page of sorts to it now.

Yeah its very nice. I'm a sucker for these "silk cloths" flying around in the background too.

I haven't tried yet but what's the easiest way to copy music/image files over to the PS3? Can I just connect a external HDD (NTSC) and transfer over? An iPod?

Yeah, but I don't think it can read the ipod database. I just copied some of my music to my ipod as an external usb hdd. Then copied that music folder to my ps3

I see. It didn't see the music when I put it plainly 'on top' of the iPod. So it must be in a separate music folder to be seen? (something which seems to be the case as it only recognized the music within the music folder on my psp memstick right now)

Press triangle on the ipod, then "show it all" or something. Then it shows you the entire contents of your ipod.

Maybe make a special thread for that?

Got my PS3 through work on thursday. Only cost me about 520 euros, since I get a nice discount because Guerrilla Games is part of the Sony family :)

I don't have a HDTV so I connected it to a 22" monitor with a HDMI->DVI cable. Very very nice. A question though; The PS3 is outputting at 1080p, but my monitor has a res of 1680x1050. Does it crop some stuff out, or resizes it? Connecting my X360 to the monitor with a VGA cable I choose the 1280x1024 option which probably stretches the image causing it to be slightly blurry. Choosing the 1080 option causes a lot of the image to be cropped away horizontally. So what exactly is the PS3 doing to the image on my lcd which makes it look much crisper? And how do I get my X360 to look as nice (save for getting an actual 1080p hdtv)?

As far as the games are concerned, well I didn't buy any. Instead I tried out some demos.
* Blast Factor is pretty nice in a Geometry Wars kind of way, and it certainly is cheap enough. But I'll probably not purchase it.
* Resistance was very disappointing. I was not impressed with either its graphics or gameplay.
* Motorstorm was initally fun looking, but very unforgiving. After playing it a while I started crashing less often and had more fun with it. Still not sure I want to pay full price for it. Instead of 65 euros it'll only cost me 45 euros if I buy it through work though. I'll think about it after I borrow the full version from a coworker.
* F1 - liked the sense of speed; didn't look as nice as I hoped it to be. I generally prefer arcade racers though, so again, this isn't really for me despite watching F1 races.

Saw Virtua Fighter 5, Railfan and GT HD at work. Not a huge fighter fan, and certainly not a hardcore player, so VF5 isn't for me at full price.

Wanted to buy a BluRay movie, but nothing I really want is out yet in stores here. I so lament BD regioning, especially since not even Japan is in the same region as Europe any more (would've liked to purchase some BD anime). At least I hope to get that free Casino Royale BD soon.

MotorStorm is worth it for the online multiplayer. I had my first night today (well yesterday now) and the thrill and awe was just immense. While I think Resistance feels ultra polished, MotorStorm just has a very vibrant next gen vibe around it and it doesn't feel like something before it. I tried it offline the day before and two races was enough for me then but the online streak I had kept me playing. And it works without a hitch.

The PS3 can read ID3 tags fine though, so despite the crazy directory/filing structure of iPods the PS3 can reorganise everything by artist or by album. I basically plugged in my iPod and copied everything across and it's perfectly browsable on my PS3 (I would prefer subdirectories though). Just make sure your MP3's are tagged correctly I guess.

I have a Bravia KDL-32V2000 too, what do you guys prefer through HDMI, 1080i or 720p?

btw, just tried God of War PAL and I'm very pleased to see it runs smoothly, with zero slowdown, no tearing and @576p (it was 576i in PS2), if only every AAA PS2 game was like this one in PS3... here's hope :)

My PS3 can't read anything off my iPod at all it seems. It doesn't even bring it up.
It's an iPod shuffle btw.

In any case I'm just using my PSP memstick atm as a bridge so I brought over some music and photos now. The one converted video I brought, Home promo trailer, looked like crap. Let's hope Sony releases it soonish on PS Store.

That's a great idea - why don't you start a new thread for that ?

Did I just dream that Gripshift was avaliable on the european network? I have a clear vision that I saw the game, went and bought it (charged 64 NOK from my wallet) tried to download it, but got an error saying something about something numbers something. Exited the store, and tried to try again, but didnt find it anymore. Anyone else seen it on the store? Maybe the exitement of finaly getting a ps3 has gotten to me :(

I noticed that when browsing external media (I have a 500GB HD connected to my Mac and PS3 to share media) it only looks 1 folder deep.

E.g. I have \Video\TV\Scrubs\14 - My No Good Reason.mp4

and it'll show me the TV folder and not anything else. It's not a particular problem because you can just use triangle to display all but when it comes to music it's more annoying.

Consider \Music\Bloc Party\A Weekend In The City\ and \Music\Bloc Party\Silent Alarm; initially it will only display "Bloc Party" until you use display all. But then you can't simply hit play on the folder, it's another button press.

Such a small oversight but it pisses me off so much.

I'm liking Resistance, altho I'm sort of hating the controls. Why can't console devs make it so FPS on consoles can use KB+M as well as a (sucky) controller?

You didn't dream. If it is not showing, it means you've bought it. Go to Library in the Playstation Store to download it again.

EDIT: And i forgot, anyone with a PSP disappointed about how slow Remote Play is?

I got V2500, but anyway, I prefer 720p, it's just a little bit smoother, but there's hardly a difference. Though, when I watch BluRay, I have to set it to 1080i, because 720p doesn't work.

Aha, thanks. Downloading it now. About the psp remote, not that dissapointet about the speed, but I have only tried to watch a poorly (imagequality) dave chappelle show, and though it was ok (speedwise). Was very impresed that the picturebook thingy was working.
