Official PAL PLAYSTATION®3 Launch Thread

If you want to update the PS3 firmware via USB storage device, is it okay to use the US firmware for a PAL PS3? Or is there no such thing as US, EU, JP firmware? Are they all the same?
Cause apparently there's no EU PS3 website.
At the playstation.com page, I clicked on the Europe region and it redirects me to the US PS website.

I think the amount you spend needs to be more than 5$/€ or something (I remember reading something aboutthis when people were discussing this atthe NA launch, but I could be wrong), as my total was 22.97€ and that is the exact amount I put into the wallet at the end of the transaction.

Oh well that would make sense then since GripShift was £4.99. Though it is annoying for the UK if that's the case since a lot of things are priced around £3.49 to £4.99 whereas they will exceed 5€ in the rest of Europe.
 
xvid4psp is really fast, and creates 480x272 videos for modded PSPs. i like it.

any info on what settings to use for the PS3? Some of those options pages are a nightmare
 
Just got my account set up and got a lot of stuff off the playstation store. Loving the demos and full games (Dark Resurrection FTW). My only annoyance is wtf happened to the PS1 games? Are we actually getting them in the UK?

I just saw the "This is living" TV ad running in the UK. It is a new low in shit adverts from Sony...WTF is going on in them.

So you reckon if the ads had been more to European tastes they'd have bought more than 600,000 PS3s?

I see it alot on TV in Italy, and I think it's ok, not as good as their usual stuff, but still crazy and slick enough. I even downloaded the various versions from the PLAYSTATION Store just to watch them from time to time.
The black receptionist is just too funny looking dancing on the table.

150k PSN regristrations, still able to get Casino Royale then. When will the PS Store be updated with rub a dub and when they gonna give us the US content, PSP games and such?

Nobody knows. There should be an update every Friday, we'll just have to wait and see what time it goes ahead.

What time do PSN updates happen on Thursdays in the US? Anyone know?

I tried and had the same problem. Give it a few weeks for the userbase to build up, i think everyone is currently playing Motorstorm and Resistance instead.
 
Wollan had his PSN message that Supa Rub a Dub was coming today but he didnt know what time.. is this 100% set in stone to come today? I downloaded the trailer from the US PStore and it looked quite fun and i would love a demo.

It's scheduled for the European PSN Store today. The PSN schedule for the weeks ahead is in the original thread post.

Edit: Fl0w today? I guess they switched around then. Fl0w was supposed to be next week.

Oh. According to mmmKay Fl0W is up, which shouldnt be out till next week.. maybe they switched release dates?
 
They really need to fix the Abort/Confirm options changing to a different language when buying from Playstation Store ><
What language has the word Fortfahren btw?

I did too - my second purchase.

Weirdly the PSN store decided that I should have German labelled buttons when I added credit to my wallet.

Edited to add: Now flOW just disappeared from the PSN store, but mine appears to be downloading. Very peculiar.

Mine decided I wanted French :D I have three accounts - all English. It's a PS3 from the UK, and I'm in the UK...what part of that means I should have three pages of French menus when adding funds to my wallet? :lol:

Really disappointed with fl0w...what the hell is it? Is there actually a game here or is it just move the pad around until you collect an item that moves you along? I know it's only £3.50 but I feel like I've been conned. I was expecting a LOT more than this - it's been hyped up so much in every preview and the end result doesn't even deserve to be called a game

I already had Tekken and other free downloads. I think flOw just disappeared completely. I haven't checked to see if it's come back, but I wasn't imagining it at the time. My download completed anyway, so I'm backing up my system.

That might explain it. I have two PSN accounts (blame the Casino Royale / preregistering confusion for that), and I just switched today so I probably didn't notice Tekken disappearing on my old PSN id.
