Just got one, I was able to get a friend to sell me one of his PS3 (he had 2). PSN ID is GoncaloCastro, however I seem to have some problems with my scart cable, weird black lines appear everywhere, games, XMB and I have no idea what it is. In composite tough the image is without this problem.

Flow sort of reminds me of Rez's trance mode, except with less grating sounds.

Sure, LooookeSmiff might be right in that it's not a "game" per se, but who cares? I can see myself getting more chill-out products like this one. We can call the genre "unwindertainment". :D

Heh, I instinctively tried to eat the grinning smiley with my mouse cursor. :lol

is there any way to set moving video thumbnails for downloaded trailers off the PS store?

Yes.

Bring up the menu and select the option that... creates moving video thumbnails... maybe?

How does the music visualition work ? Not the moving XMB background, but the one in 3D.
You seem to be able to influence it with the right analog stick a bit, but does anyone know more ? What exactly does the stick influence ?

Most of the time, it's an awful looking bright mess. Geiss and other PC visualisers are a thousand times better.

Posting from my PS3's browser D:
that's like super slow and not user friendly (and i'm not speaking about typing xD)
let's just forget that :lol

There is 2 options in the DVD playback that i'd like to know their use. I'd like to know exactly what they as it doesn't make any difference on my TV (apparently)

Press Triangle when playing a DVD and enter "Image Quality Adjustement" and then there's 2 options: "Frame Noise reduction" and "Block Noise Reduction".

Nothing is explained about those 2 function in any manuals coming with the PS3. Can't anybody tell me what those options are actually doing?

Has anyone had problems with their PAL PS3 controller dropping out/loosing contact for a few seconds with the console? Someone in another thread here said that no such errors was reported from PAL lands and that Sony supposedly fixed it.

I haven't noticed it, and I'm constantly playing Motorstorm. Knocking on wood...

No problems here... yet.

That is something i wanted to ask as well, since I've not experienced it yet and I've been playing Resistance and GripShift alot.

Frame noise refers to those little million bitches that appear on the screen when there is a lack of light in the original scene. Keep this turned off. I suppose.

Block noise is the mpeg compression effect. When a movie is heavily compressed, some colored blocks appear on the screen on monotonous parts of the image. Turn this on.

Frame noise/Block noise are post-processing effects to "enhance" the image. Like most processing effects, they'll just make it look worse :lol Leave them turned off and watch it as it was intended to look, not how Sony think it should look

No problems with my pad connection either btw. I don't think I have ANY complaints about the machine...at all!

Not any problem with my controllers, and I've been playing a lot.

That said, I'm wired, not using WiFi.

I'm pretty sure all those problems come from conflicts with other WiFi / bluetooth devices.

that said, USB is used only for powering the device, not for input

:D

Noise reduction is stupid. Noise is beautiful, and it was intended to look like that.

MPEG blocks, on the other hand, are not intended to appear. If you can take rid of them, better for you.

No, I was wondering when my controller would crap out. Not happened to me.

Even though he wasn't talking about USB, it is actually used for input when the controller is connected by it.

I've also not experienced any Bluetooth issues so far.

That said, you're right :D

Would be a bit stupid to say "hey guys, I have no issues with bluetooth... because I play with USB cords plugged lol !!1!one" :p

Has anyone tried to use the original mac bluetooth keyboard and mouse with their PS3? It just doesn't work for me :-(

quick question:
my router is not wireless so i ended up plugging my ps3 with the normal RJ45 port...
is it possible to browse online with my PSP using the PS3 as a wi-fi access point?

just tried FFXII

+ Loads faster (muuuuch faster)
+ Less pop-in
+ Runs way smoother and with zero slowdown
+ Better IQ thanks to HDMI and "forced" 576p

- No rumble (meh)
- CG videos are glitchy (hope Sony fix this for 1.7 / 2.0 system update)
- Turn the "deflicker" option off or you'll get a washed blurry image

one question for blast factor:

i downloaded the eu version of the main game (cheaper than in the us), but i want the multiplayer add-on, which is only released in the usa so far. will the us add-on work with my eu game?

Just created an account for the US Store, they have got so much more than we have, when will all the trailers and PSP games be coming? Hurry up Sony!

I finally got MS for my US import PS3... went down to my local Sony store (in Bosnia) and they sold out first day... LOL. My store had only 5 units and city is small, and I think this is first time official software was sold here, ever (and not pirated versions)... You cant even buy 360 here or Wii, except for the sign on the pirate shop door to hurry and buy chipped 360 and why is it much better than PS3 :D

Anyway, really happy that they had games in, I expected to have to import it, like everything else... nice!

!DrMiha, watch out!

Any of you Euros experiencing a high fan noise from your PS3s?

Seems a few people here in Sweden have been having these problem, I have been seeing reports from Norway also.

The symptoms are; After just a few minutes up to maybe 8 minutes the PS3 kicks into a high fan speed mode (called fan mode 3, as it seems to be the highest fan speed mode), which makes the console quite audible (however, not as noisy as the Airbus X360. :D ).

It stays in this mode even if the air coming out from the PS3 is no warmer than room temperature.

I am not affected, my PS3 only reaches mode 2 after several hours of gaming (or if I idle in XMB for ~13 minutes).

Mode 1 = Near silent. Can only hear a low fan noise if the room is dead silent or if you have your ear near to the machine.

Mode 2 = The fan can be heard if the room is silent. Does not sound as much as the very first PS2 model.

Mode 3 = The fan noise that is heard when you first boot the system, after the beep signals the fan revs briefly before going back to mode 1. Sounds quite a lot compared to mode 2.

Here is an audiofile to illustrate the noise. Credit goes to Gamer s and V5er of Playing.se forums.

According to the distributor in Scandinavia there was a production problem with some units between different serial numbers. These units are regarded as defective and will be replaced.

Just thought I’d check out the status for the rest of Europe. Right now it seems to be concentrated to the Nordic regions?

Mine is completely silent, I said WOW and I still say it.

Even with no noise inside my appartment (altho I live near a big avenue so there's always some background noise) I can barely hear it.

I live in France btw.

I can hear my fan, but it's not that loud. Maybe it's in mode two all the time? The Xbox 360 is louder but I don't have any problems with either the PS3 or the Xbox 360. What are guys complaining doing? Playing without any sound?

Also... TV400 (Swedish channel), will show something at 23:50. Seems like it's just one of the weird commercials but it might also be something interesting. Who knows?
