Official Phil Harrison Keynote @ GDC Thread.

i hope LBP comes with a lot of items and a good amount of pre built levels... that way we won't have to worry too much if it doesn't take off sales wise.

hopefully though it'll be a hit.

Haven't read the whole thread, but are you telling me that Home is just a microtransactions game? I was under the impression that you decorated your space with stuff you got from playing a game, not stuff you buy from the PS Store.

hahaha, no. It comes with a shitload of stuff standard, apparently. But, if you want to go CRAZY (bigger 'HOME', etc...) it will cost you. You can get by without spending a dime though.

HOME definitely looks great, but why do people screm out YEEEAHHH and stuff like that? It was a a good press conferance, but nothing more.

it's because they are all developers. the amount of possibilities for advertising their games in a new way through home is amazing.

I think a lot of people missed that achievement trophy, or they were just too excited to notice. Loco Roco would fit really well on the PS3 with sixaxis controls.
glad someone else noticed it. :D

That game would be great for psn.

any news on the firmware update or PSP God of War? i thought maybe GoW PSP would be revealed at GDC....

perhaps Phil or some other Sony spokesperson will talk about the above in a GDC interview with IGN, GS, etc etc

well, it'll be on PSN as DLC and on Blu-Ray (from what I gather... DON'T QUOTE ME IF I'M WRONG!!!), it's utterly beautiful, super cute, and downright awesome. Million+ seller confirmed! :p

i guess it'll depend on how much content it has as to whether or not it'll do better on PSN or on disc. just seems like a game that needs to be plugged in to really take off.

eitherway i think they're really onto something there. looks like a really fun sandbox.

Loco Roco PS3 confirmed? I've never seen shaded Loco Rocos before....

Edit: I think it's a 3D model, so that would explain the shading.

Not sure yet, that might just be from the PSP virtual space.

Gamespot's vid is a must see... that's all i have to say, the text-part was great with the notes, and appreciate the live blog... but, the vids always make it more exciting... That was a really impressive speech by Phil, he should do all of the Sony talking here on out... Very easy to get along with...

LBP is seriously an incredible looking game, it really is... It looks like a blast to play, and I don't usually care for cutesy stuff... the jet-packs really sold me, haha...

Now, onto another part... Knock it off with the, "bu-bu-bu it's just Second Life guyz!", "bu-bu-bu it's just Mii's guyz", "bu-bu-bu it's just acheivments guyz"... It's all that, just done BETTER... Thank you all for pointing it out, and we can see where I said they took good ideas and made them better... I can't wait to see specifically MS response to this, and how many times Mii's and Second Life/Sims are mentioned by them in a desperate attempt to calm down the excitement until they cook up something to counter this...

There seems to be a mega-mass-e-meltdown going down for the people with anti-sony agenda's today... We're seeing some stuff on the games on the net, and in the new mags,
and now a newly polished and refined online community aspect... Sony's always been a slow-starter, but once they get moving, it's exciting to be a gamer...

PS-Home really is a Virtually-Living PSstore and XMB... meaning how you navigate it... I mean, you have your PS store stuff in there, like demos, trailers, blah blah... You have communications with your friends in there on your friends list... you have your Pics and Vids sections in there...

Phil actually said that LBP will be available as PSN title in 2007 and on BD in 2008. Whether it means that BD version will have some ammount of pre-generated content is unclear, but likely, imo.

Well, in all fairness, it is not correct to say Playstation HOME is better then all that, at least not yet, the service isn't going to be out and all that. We will have a better indication in April once it hits beta phase.

Looks very cool :)
And: did u check on the monitors into the room, the new LocoRoco for PS3? :D
I hope to see more of that very soon!

Edit: ok, you check it :D

been saying this for awhile. when i played it on psp, it got boring really quick, but i can see myself having a blast if i was actually tilting it. one of the few instances where i see the sixaxis as a really awesome input

Where I wanted to go

I really, really want to try this like right now. Public beta in April?

And here is the picture Shane drew of Phil that Luke thought was terrible which it is.

Wow Home has soo much potential and i am not using that word to be facetious. Think about haveing a Home "space" to promote a game, not just with banners, but a place for people to enter and check out the design and maybe play a demo or watch a trailer.

Maybe a room dedicated to killzone or a castle like room dedicated to Lair. This might be something awesome to developers to help sell their games.

This is truly exciting.

I am guessing it involves an axe and Phil Harrison's head.

Hehe... probably something to that effect... :lol

He's just about to cry.

I personally hope, that people who continuously came into this topic just to troll HOME feature, without any substantial input, will be banned.

It's the next-gen online interface, way beyond anything we've seen before it.

What are the chances that someone could record Gamespot's conference stream when they replay it later? I've really got to get some sleep, but I don't want to miss the LBP demonstration.
