Can someone help. When I download the file, it shows up as: swaploit_1.5_psp-dev

When I try to run this, it doesn't do anything. Am I supposed to put this on the MS before I do anything?

extract it with winrar

does anybody know how the exploit works? whay does the PSP believe the game on the second mem stick is a corretly signed version???

I would also like to know WHY the exploit works. I could understand if you had a correctly signed App on MS1 and the Emu on MS2, but neither is correctly signed, so why does the PSP bypass the check? It is not anything like the DC or Saturn "Swap Trick".

It facinates me that we've had the tools to do this "hack" ever since the PBP unpacker was released, and it took this long for someone to try it. The group that released the completely unecessary tool yesterday could have just released the "method" when they figured it out. Don't get me wrong, I give them mad props for figuring this out, but their tool is not needed for the trick and really doesn't help that much.

Hey can you include the font you are using in your PSDs? I'd like to use that template for other emulators like PCEngine and MAME.

hey the link dazzla gave us is not working. anyone know where i can download it?

yeah i second this ... we need the font!

gotta have a matching set with your awesome skins

I really doubt we'll get good(any?) N64 emulation. I mean even the Xbox has problems with it and that scene is far more advanced. And the PSP isn't has strong as the Xbox. Hell, I was questioning Neo Geo stuff...let alone N64..

Hell, even if they DID manage to get it running decently...the PSP doesn't even have enough buttons to handle most games.

NeoGeo will run perfectly fine as soon as they add CPU clocking option and maybe a frameskip 1. Right now, Metal Slug, which is one of the more complex games, runs at maybe 50-60% speed. N64 emu, who knows, I wouldn't hope too much. PS1 emu certainly though. Pocket PCs run PS1 stuff and they don't even use hardware to emulate GPU.

I believe I used Candara, one of the new Longhorn fonts:
Thank you ser!

What is the effect of the frameskip option, i'm not familiar with it?

Also, PS1 stuff (as far as I know) doesn't run that well on Xbox either (50%-90% depending on the game), so why would it run better on PSP?

But then again I got a crappy 433mhz pc (weaker than the xbox) that can emulate the psx pretty smoothly.

I've got a question-when using Nester version 1.02...how do you get back to your roms listing? The emulator freezes on me when I choose the menu called go to roms list. Is there some other way to get to the list? Why is this happening?

PS1 emulation would be very nice :)

If they can make a PS1 emulator for the PocketPC(FPSE) that can run FF VII decently, then it shouldn't be a big problem to get it to run on PSP nearly flawlessly, assuming they aren't going to implement any fancy graphic enhancements..

It skips frames. For example, the game that runs at 60FPS, will run at 30 FPS with frameskip 1 or 20FPS with frameskip 2. That helps *a lot* to achieve high speeds in emulators.

Well, on my shitty PC, which is certainly worse than Xbox hardware, the VGS runs pretty much everything at 100% speed, and ePSXe runs fine too with some tweaks. I'd say that Xbox emulator is not that great if they can't make it run better than that.

Pocket PC emulator is not running most games at great speed either, but again it doesn't use hardware assisted emulation for PS1 GPU.

I think you can get a package with all of the emulators set up for the swap trick on psphacker.com - from that point all you have to do is copy stuff to your PSP over USB cable.

You sir, are awesome. Testing it out in just a few minutes. Thanks.

But then again I got a crappy 433mhz pc (weaker than the xbox) that can emulate the psx pretty smoothly.

ePSXe, as fast as it is, isn't open-source, so no PSP/Xbox. Not many emulators really come close to it, sadly.

DO YOU HAVE ALL YOUR ROMS IN A ROM SUBFOLDER? YOU MIGHT JUST TRY DELETING AND REINSTALLING THE PBP FILES AND THEN RUNNING THE SWAP AGAIN

I thought roms for nester 1.02 didn't require their own rom folder? I have them set in the same folder as the emulator is sitting in.

I LIKE THE CAPSLOCK KEY.

Any chance of the PCE emulator running CD games? I'd love to have Dracula X on the go.

I just deleted about 300 NES roms and left about 20 or so in the same directory that the emulator was sitting in,it now works fine-I can go back to the troms listing and choose another game easily. Is it possible that the emulator freaks out when you have hundreds and hundreds of roms to play with?

Btw-I made no roms folder, just deleted alot of roms.

Hmmmm. And now my Master System emulator won't load up any games,it simply freezes when at the rom listings. It worked last night, but I uploaded about 200-300 hundred roms this afternoon and now it won't load. I think maybe too many roms is something the emulators can't deal with very well. Maybe....

someone had the same problem in this thread. only put less than 100 roms in a folder to avoid having it lock up

and wtf, dont tell me you guys own that many nes games :P

Forgive my ignorance, for I am too lazy to read through ALL these posts. But is the exploit still the mem stick swap trick? How about a short FAQ without having to dig so much. Yes I am lazy and deserved to be hazed.

Heh,yeah one of the first things I did when I got DSL was go after old school roms,I sort of got carried away. Thanks for the info about the amount of roms I should keep for each emu folder,it was stupid uploading that many anyways. Damn I had 637 Master System roms in one older alone :lol Alot of them being multi region though, but still.

I hope they get a 32X emu going for the PSP someday. As it is the PSP doesn't understand the Genesis version of Virtua Racing.

Dude you rock, awesome. only thing is, can you provide a pbp for this? (I'm too dumb to make it work lol)

try these settings for SNES:

Transparancy: off

sound: 11112 hz or whatever the lowest one is

frameskip: 2+

333 mhz

graphics/sound settings: add about +.4, increase by +.1 if needed until you're satisfied
where can you change these settings?

Hmmm...it's cool I guess, but I don't think I would want to swap mem sticks every time.

I might just go for a 1.0 PSP, expensive as it might be.

in the menu? as in, once you've successfully booted in? because I pressed left / left using analog stick and nothing happened.

press left while in a game

also, you can only use these settings in the snes 9x y** versions. the new .003 official release doesnt have all the cool extra settings. but .003 has better compataibilty (it supports super metroid, super mario all stars and other games)
