Anyone know if the big video rental chains (Blockbuster, Hollywood) are carrying PS3 games for rent? I am curious about the other crap that came out at launch, but definitely not curious enough to buy.

it does charge from a standard usb port, but it does not charge from a ps3 on standby. i just plug it into my computer.

Yeah...does that mean the PS3 isn't "always on" like they said it was? I mean AFAIK you can't download while it's off, and you can't charge while it's off, so..... ^^;

But yeah, I charge my sixaxis in my PC.

I finally figured out how to sprint in Resistance MP last night! :lol

That game sorely needs vehicles in MP and the hit damage should be a lot higher. You spend more time running around maps, searching for someone to kill thant you do actually playing.

Maps designed for 40 people don't work well with less than half that.

It's better in ranked games. In unranked, you usually get the host selecting a 40p map for like 6 people, which results in a snoozefest.

japan is region2 NTSC .

btw ,i put up a no region dvd-r and it plays in GREEN trough a RGB scart cable (like ps2 PAL)
and it recognises the dvd as DVD-R actually

I just noticed that you can transfer PS3 saves to a media card or USB device, pretty cool. And you can even transfer PS2/PSone saves from the PS3 to a media card, too bad you can't import PS2 saves this way though, I guess Sony wants you to buy the memory card adapter

Well I have a PS3 for about 15 minutes per day, so that would be something like 1% of a PS3
I managed to record a video of Resistance before another freeze, I couldn't train so I play even worse than usual

It's probably very old to most, but it was nice to see Phil Harrison address the issue of in-game XMB/friends list accessibility somewhat directly in that IGN launch interview. They asked about that as the last question, and he replied that as with PSP the firmware was upgradeable and as with that system, down the road things will look very different. And more directly, he said that we'd see some features they haven't yet announced, "as well as that" (referring to what the interviewer was asking about i.e. the in-game xmb stuff etc.). It's nice to have a more recent indication that all of that is still seems to be on the cards.

edit - oh, and re. gaffers with ps3s, the official network id thread should give you an idea.

Yeah that's him. Dr Cognent! He keeps telling me that I need to prove to him that Sony will make the PSN better with firmware updates. He talks as if they are not going to make it better even though Sony has said so plenty of times.

Well as you've seen with PSP, the firmware, the software that runs the machine, day one, is very different from the firmware that we have today on PSP. We'll do exactly the same on PS3, it's a living breathing system, we'll continue to add functions and features to it. And we'll have plenty of firmware updates that add some very cool features. Not just the kind of things you're talking about there, but some other stuff as well that we haven't even announced, so look out, there's some really cool stuff coming.

Also, has anyone else checked out www.p-tv.jp/hd on their PS3 browsers? I'd forgotten all about it, but I've just checked it out now, and it does work. Downloading the casino royale trailer at the moment..kind of going slow, but I'll let you know what the quality is like. There's some other content on there too.

Finally finished that trailer download. It was very slow indeed. But the trailer itself is quite fantastic quality, actually. It was also a slightly different trailer than the last I saw for Casino Royale, I think.

Some goon just returned his unopened 60gb to Bestbuy as I was refunding some crummy 360 games today. I was actually going to buy it right then and there. just wanted to pop in and say that i'm finally a PS3 owner. a stroke of luck to say the least... my co-worker decided to stop by a best buy today and his friend was working there and whispered that they had some PS3s in the shipping area. he wanted a 60gb real bad and they only had 20s in stock in the back. so he gave me a call since he knew i got screwed over by amazon and swooped one up with the quickness. i just got it setup and am downloading demos. feels good to know that the search is over.

Wow. PS3 eBay prices are falllllling. 20GB ones are going for like an average of $700 it seems.

Preorders are still filled everywhere though... I'm sure a lot of stores had PS3's this week and especially today because of Black Friday.

It will be interesting to see if there's a spike in a short while like I believe there was with 360, or if Sony really will screw all eBay sellers and really ship out those extra units in the following weeks.
