JP or JPN is preferred in those instances. Answers.com has a decent writeup on the subject, if you're interested.f@luS said:weird thing , its like saying EU / Usa / UK / CAD , at least i though.

HDMI - if you have a HDMI connection inserted when you boot (and it's not your defaultt connection) the system should ask you "I detected a HDMI connection - do you wish to set as default?"
in which case you can set it then (or go into the menu and set it manually)
Then , of course, you'll have to set your TV/output to HDMI.
If this literally is 'the game/movie isnt' starting' - how long have you left it? I get a weird effect on the projector when the Bluray/games start as it recalibrates for whatever out put and i can get a bit of a pause (but it's a few second rather than a very noticable delay)
If you are switching from one output to the other, i'm not sure what effect it would have.
As mentioned, please elabourate and we'll help out.
On a different note, i might have missed this - what is the best program to convert hi-end (720p+) movies to MP4 format? I can transfer over myPSP movies, but i want to see if i can get HD quality movies up and playing on the PS3 (as that would be quite the boon)
There's a ps3video9 program out, very similar to the psp version
It's weird. It's fine with component connection. Anyway, for movies it just doesn't boot if I don't switch to the HDMI video input on my TV first.
It stays at a grayish screen. I can bring up the DVD menu using the triangle and I can choose to quit the movie but it actually doesn't quit.
If I switch to the input first then it's all good. For games, well I only have one game Resistance it just stays at a black screen. It's right before the Sony Computer Enterntain Presents screen. If I switch to the HDMI input then the game loads and you see the "blah blah presents" in like a second or two. Just like movies if I switch to the video input first everything's fine. Waiting for a handshake?? Wonder if it's my HDMI port on the TV. I don't think I have version 1.3.
No, I don't have them both connected at the same time. I tested the connections one at time of course. And I didn't set the PS3 connection to component when the HDMI cable is in. The settings are all correct. Triple checked Oh I have one of them 1080i TVs that accepts 720P signal

That's including any shipping costs Id imagine? - not too bad actually.pswii60 said:I paid £495 for PS3 + Genji + Ridge Racer + NFS:Carbon + Extra Controller.
Not too bad when you consider the PS3 on its own is likely to launch at £399-£425 in the UK. Obviously the games leave a lot to be desired, but downloading GTHD now to cheer myself up about spending all that money!![]()

Where'd you import from?

To be honest now, the novelty has already worn off!!
Why do the games take a) so long to download and b) then have to install!! Why install? Install what?!
Also, having read the impressions of GTHD I couldn't wait to check the thing out, but dissapointmenton complete. Bar the 60fps, I don't see how it is even as impressive as PGR3? Sure the car models are impressive, but the backgrounds sure aren't.
Genji is every bit as bad as people have said, Motorstorm demo on the other hand is quite impressive.
But to be honest, I was expecting stuff that would look better than my 360 games, but after downloading Resistance, GTHD, Motorstorm, Formula One and with Genji and RR7, they just don't look as good as the likes of the Lost Planet demo (first generation), PGR3 and obviously not GoW.
I really want to make all this money I've spent feel justified!!! Sony need to show the god damn games that are coming out and blow me away because right now I'm feeling a little sick. I could have had £500 of 360 games!!!I am silly, I think I should have waited?
EDIT: OK I sound incredibly negative, but the PS3 has impressive me with its UI and elegance so it's not all bad, it's just that I haven't had my money justified.
Oh Sony....Shawn said:Holy sh*t!
The PLAYSTATION 3 console is available for sale at the ebgames.com website. No bundles! No strings attached. Shipping in 24 hours.
It's the first time I've seen it so readily available.
Edit:
Whoa! It's even on the front page!

yeah (got US ps3 , using a classic computer cable as i can find everywhere in fr)Midas said:I'm considering getting a US PS3. Only got one question - is the psu in the US PS3 110~220v as the Japanese one?
Forsete said:I will be spending about 1157 USD on a PS3 at the EU release. :|
PlayStation 3 6390 -> 910USD
Game 650 -> 93USD
BD-movie 300 -> 43USD
PlayStation Store - 500 -> 71USD
HDMI-HDMI 2 meters 280 -> 40USD
25% VAT + Nordisk Films (distributor of PlayStation in Scandinavia) rape price = YAY!
Three reasons why I dont import, warranty (I get two years here), BD region - I want to be able to buy my movies locally, and 50+ PS2 titles which Id like to play on my PS3 not to mention all my Region 2 DVDs.

Don't you use a stand alone DVD player? The only reason I have for importing is that it can play Region A Blu-ray titles. I dont want to wait for a EU release if there's a US version.![]()
Forsete said:Pretty much confirmed, yes.
Discshop had the price set to 6000 for a while, then magically increased the price by 390 kr, along with everyone else. I bet they got NFs official recommended price.
Yes I have a stand alone player, its a cheap Centrum (Netonnets brand), so I would perfer to just use my PS3 for DVD-playback. If they add upscaling of DVDs it would become the perfect DVD-player.
