Not really lol. But im guessing the guy was referring to those HDCP barriers. Odd question, odd answer.
 
If you're in Japan and awake, check Akki ni Omakaze at 11:45 this morning. The guys who were at the Shibuya Tsutaya launch (me, john tv, dcharlie, anoop and fowler) may be on TV today! :)

So we know the PS3 and the controllers are made of semi-transparent plastic, and apparently the discs themselves are semi-transparent too. A GS clerk was like "hey, you want to see something neat?" and he held a PS3 disc up to the light...wow.

Also, this weeks circulars for Best Buy and Circuit City indicate the minimum number of PS3s they expect per store. BB says 6 of the 20 gig and 20 of the 60 gig, while CC says 15 total w/o any breakdown between the two models.

I don't blame them. If there was a PS3 midnight launch at your local EB, all hell might break loose. That's how launches go. Big crowds, fighting, blood spilled, and maybe a murder or two.

I just watched it. Saw some gaijin, but I don't know what you guys look like. I like the brain shock game thingy on that show.

I have to admit that getting the ps3 and wii with really only a 1 day difference makes me glad to be a gamer

Most optical discs are semi transparent like that. Although I guess it depends on whats printed on the top layer.

Don't we normally get some retailer numbers here at the end of a given weekend? It always seems like big game releases get some sort of estimate attached to them, which when you extend out for all of Japan can approximate Media Create pretty well.

I know some folks are going to have fun with DS >>> PS3 weeks 1,2,3,etc...

Oh, I know. I just thought it was sort of funny how there seems to be this general meme about the PS3 regarding all the semi-transparency. The GS clerk pointed it out to me like it was something cool and exotic about Blu-Ray discs that had never been seen before.
 
i've held a blu ray disc up to the light -- having nothing better to do with it until i get my ps3 -- and it is unusually transparent.

Dude things like that in Japan is cool. Ever want HOT coffee or tea from a vending machine? Man, I wish i was back in Japan. I regret coming back here.

I remember buying cold ramen noodles or warming up a nice quick lunch at a 24 convenience store.

true. Hopefully some importer gives us a good answer. I might want to import some games in the future and having one system that plays both would be great.
