Standard 2.5" laptop drives with SATA interface will work. PS3 Manual even provides instructions on how to remove the existing HDD and install your own.Hard drive: Okay so I know you can upgrade these on your own whenever you'd like, but what's the story here? Is it possible to get HDDs that actually fit into the PS3 bay so you don't have to do the ugly extended cable with hard drive dangling off the side trick? And what about compatibility? Any HDD will work for the upgrade?
Yes, to first question. Both models of PS3 have the same number of USB ports - 4.Mem card slots and USB: Since these are missing on the tard pack, can I use my existing USB universal card reader on the PS3 to transfer files onto the HDD? Also, since the tard pack is also missing a wi-fi adapter, USB ports become very important. How many USB ports are there on the tard pack and can I use any USB hub on the market?
I think that's still an open question right now.Wi-fi: Again, how compatible is PS3 with stuff that's out on the market now? Can I use any wi-fi adapter off the shelves? What about the Xbox 360 wi-fi adapter?![]()

chespace said:So third-party wi-fi adapters do not work at all or just hasn't been tested by those who own PS3s right now?
gofreak said:Well, it was smart for me since the difference in cost was $150 - for which I could get a much bigger HDD than the 60GB offers. And I've no real need for the wifi, and absolutely no need for the removeable media slots..Depending on your circumstances I definitely think it's a nice flexible option, particularly if you want a HDD > 60GB.
Anyway, I have to speak up for my 20Gig-er brethern
I'm not sure if it's been tested, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work..
I think Sony has said they won't work. They're not a trivial thing to support, I think you'd need drivers for every different model. Hopefully Sony will provide one as a peripheral soon.

I'm still interested in picking up a PS3 so I've got the following questions about the tard pack...

Thanks for your help, folks.
A west Georgia man was so determined to buy 15 pieces of the latest video game hardware as Christmas gifts that he hired people to stand in line for him, but the plan fell apart when other customers got wind of it and complained.
"This is the only way I can get what I want," said Murray Newlin, a Columbus dentist who was seeking 15 PlayStation 3 consoles as Christmas gifts for grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was prepared to buy available units from Wal-Mart stores in Columbus and several Alabama cities, using a crew of 60 workers he cycled through in eight-hour shifts, according to one of the temps he hired.
But he abandoned his plan Wednesday after other potential PlayStation customers got wind of it and began complaining to him, to the store managers and to the employment agency he used.
Goldrusher said:How big are the demos ?
I live in a country where internet is blazingly fast (10 megabit for basic service), yet it's pretty restricted as to how much you can do with it. There's a limit of 10GB allowed to download per month.
It helps to reduce piracy, but honest users who want to download demos and HD-trailers are getting shafted.
So:
1) how big are the demos ?
2) can you download them with a PC and put the file on a memory card or USB HDD ?
3) can you burn updates or demos on cd or dvd ?
Thanks.

You called it the tard pack 5 times. I find that funny. GAF hasn't considered the 20 Gig version the 'tard' pack for months now.

:lol Yeah right..
Good grief!
Any 2.5" SATA HDD should work fine. They slot right in, now dangling HDDs (that's only if you want to connect a larger 3.5" drive). I'm personally gonna go for this one, probably

It's official. Family games != good games.Amir0x said:Fox News has a feature on PS3, 360 and Wii right now...
The guy says "PS3 has motion sensing, so Nintendo sorta started this trend."
Shepherd asks: "oh so what about Wii?"
The guy said "Wii is $250, so it's much cheaper than the other systems..."
Shepherd replies "It's cheaper, why?"
The guy says "Well, it doesn't display in HD and it's more for families..."
Shepherd goes "So it doesn't have any good games? Pfft."
What the hell :lol
Mrbob said:Wow, listening to talk radio today they are talking about a scene from a wal mart about an hour away from me regarding the PS3. They had 50 people waiting for the system in the morning, and the assistant manager didn't want them lingering around since they only have 10 systems. Instead of doing first come first serve or a raffle, he set up a "game" where he placed 10 lawn chairs down in the distance and the first 10 people who rushed into a chair got a system. In the process one kid hit a pole and had to be rushed away to the hospital. Sounds like he is ok but they are talking abou the ramifications now and if Wal Mart is liable for the damages. WTF was this assistant manager thinking?!

One thing to note right from the off is that Formula 1 gives a tremendous feeling of speed, especially when racing from the in-car or first-person viewpoint. The cars accelerate away hard, making the most of Monza's long opening straight and within seconds the packed out grandstands make way for lush green trees that whizz past in a blur. It's not just trackside objects that have been modelled in the game either, but the surrounding trees and buildings too, giving the game a real sense of depth. The sky, too, looks almost photorealistic, especially when it's clouded over during the wet weather races.
Don't take your eyes off the track for too long though, because the first corner is a right-left chicane that catapults your car into the speed trap if you fail to slam on the anchors hard enough. Edging out onto the rumble strips enables you to take a wider, faster route around the apex without losing grip, although the front of the car judders in protest, but the tyres will still maintain their grip. However, overcook the accelerator too much and the rear end will slide out, sending you spinning off into the grass. Getting back onto the tarmac is no easy task either, because the loose grass sticks to the tyres and reduces their grip, causing them to spin if you accelerate too hard.
Turn the realism and damage up to maximum and it's a different racing experience entirely. Admittedly it's not so realistic it's unplayable, at least at this stage, but it's still tough enough to ensure you'll only complete a lap by sticking to the racing line and gentling dabbing the brakes and accelerator to maintain control of the car. Push it too hard and the tyres will lose they grip or, worse still, you'll crunch into the back of the car in front, sending shards of carbon fibre body parts flying across the circuit. Damage naturally affects the performance of a car and while we assume you'll be able to replace shattered spoilers and wings by entering the pits, the feature wasn't working in the build we played. Instead we kept plodding around the track in our broken car until we were disqualified for causing too many prangs.
Although Formula 1 is still some way from completion there's no denying it looks great and the two finished tracks give a good indication of the detail and realism we can expect in the game. We can't wait to drive through the snaking streets of Monaco and hit top speed along the back straight on the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit in Montreal. We're also keeping our fingers crossed for full 22-player online races, so hopefully we'll see you out on the circuit.

Hmmm, sounds good. I'll stick to the graphics comments for now, b/c I don't trust game journos and F1 games. Most have no clue what it's about. For instance, calling a gravel trap a "speed trap." You want to go through the speed traps as fast as possible, they just record your speed on the longest straight. :lol Anyway, I hope the controls are good, and I hope the damage is done well. I still have nightmares of random engine and suspension failures in F1:CE. Xbox fans should petition Bizarre to make an open-wheel racer, as they did one of the best ones on the PS1. PEACE.SolidSnakex said:
