I'm waiting on the Plantronics headset I bought to arrive from Amazon before I play some serious Resistance games.

Yeah, I got to my local Gamestop about an hour ago just as UPS was delivering packages and was able to get a 20GB PS3 without a pre-order! I picked up Ridge Racer 7 and a replacement plan. They didn't have any PS2 memory card adapters in, though the clerk said there might be some in the packages, since he hadn't gone through all of them yet.

I also got the "Gamestop Experience." The guys there kept saying that the 20 GB systems could not be upgraded with a larger hard drive or to output HD and asking was I sure I wanted to buy it. :lol I now think I know why I tend to stick to buying stuff online.

Now I'm off to check the 1080i scaling thread since my TV is effected by the issue.

Right now that's a great start, If you haven't got Fight Night on 360 you might want to take a look at that in Dec, also maybe importing VF5 from Japan as I'm sure it'll hit there first
 
Holy hell...I'm going to explode. Me want a PS3! I _want_ to spend near CDN $1000 on this thing, but I can't! How hell is Sony keeping itself from imploding?!

are we really going to be able to video chat in game? it looks like its only 1 on 1 thru the xmb for now.

I don't think anyone knows for certain.

We do know that the system reserves a nice chunk of ram at all times and that ram is not being fully utilized. They have created a solid base on which they can build additional features.
 
Has anyone tried any USB wireless adapter on their 20gb?

I'm debating whether to get the 20gb, or wait for the 60gb. Wi-Fi is pretty much the only thing I care about so I want to know how well a 3rd party wi-fi usb adapter work.

yeah... I wonder about that though... is it going to be used for accessing the XMB in game (some games-wierd japanese cat demo already pull up the web browser) I wonder if they are going to use that reserved resources for those unfortuante people with a 1080i only set to scale the image. I don't think that would eat up the whole thing though.

The potential for this thing is just amazing. It would be awsome if you could record you eyetoy input and edit it. Hell if it could capture video from your camcorder then host it on you PS3 'myspace' page that would be something. It could be a bad ass HD video editing station. With linux people making little apps and sony continually upgrading the OS the posibilities are endless. :)

I have the 60gb ... and the wireless isnt all that. Could just be my router but the downloads from the store a waaay slower with wireless. I will see if I can find any usb wireless devices to test later tonight.

That sucks. I type on GAF every night now from my PS3 (damn computer is always taken ::pissed::) and my USB k/b works perfectly. Unplug it and reconnect it and see what happens.

Ah, so that's why I see you. You are making very efficient use of your PS3. ;)
 
Not sure if this is old or not guys, but supposedly the main guy at Impress Watch interviewed Masayusa Ito of SCE, and he confirmed that the next PS3 update will come in December (likely 1.20), around the time of the BD remote release, which is the 7th.

Also, Koei has announced that Fatal Inertia will release in February in Japan.

Hell yeah. Honestly I have NO idea why people say that the PS3 browser is slow.

the only unsexy thing is that you can't do anything else while d/ling. d/ling the killer app right (motorstorm demo :lol)

I don't know but I swear GAF is running like shit now (actually the last week or so) and I'm on my computer. It's like E3 speeds.

My PS3 is faster while on GAF than my computer is right now.
 
I can't seem to get my system to boot right to the XMB with a game inside. A couple people (Jonnyram included) said you just have to hit the PS button while 'Sony Computer Entertainment' is displayed, but it's not working. Is there some trick? Do you just press it, or hold it down, or something?

Hmm.. the way I do it is that I just move the selection before the game loads. I noticed that when a game is inside, after the ps3 boots, it highlights the game and loads it. Well, I just move the selection to something else real quick and it doesn't load the game.

hold it down for a really long time - then it works

Good to know that, because I was starting to think it was my PS3 browser. GAF is running like it's E3.

OR you could go to the settings and tell your PS3 to allow you to choose a user before booting up 100%.

I did that so it could stop booting to the game. You choose your user then it boots striaght into the XMB.

Holding R1+L1 while booting works for me...
 
Does the ps3 really play mp4 files?!?! I can't get a single one to run. It sees it but says' wrong file type' : ( Aslo BUY BLASTFACTOR, its actually alot of fun, and it gets alot harder once you figure out how to push the score. I have nearly every gaffer on my list and im the highscore at 7mil, 20th place total. Beat My Score Bitches!!!
 
Man I though my brother getting a 360 would easy the pain of having to cancel my preorder but it doesn't. I wanted Resistance more than Gears and now that I have played gears and was sort of got bored of the SP halfway through I want to play Resistance even more. I guess I am going to have to hold out till after Chirstmas when hopefully I can start hunting without all the holiday traffic.
 
so after a few hours of playing:

amazing :D

i got resistance, rr7, marvel.

-marvel is great fun with co-op.
-resistance seems good, but i haven't play more than like 30 minutes.
-rr7 is cool, online play is very smooth.
-motorstorm demo is all that and some more.

i like the sixaxis too. after spending a few hours with it i'm satisifed with the 20gb :)

the only glaring thing that needs to be fixed is not being able to do anything while d/ling.

What is it, like 10 feet? I dunno off the top of my head, but from what I can remember, it's pretty generous for a pack-in cable. Certainly nothing like the USB cable.
 
I've seen 3 PS3 kiosks. All of which had frozen PS3s. What's with all the demo crashing?

I've had one personally crash on me while at Target. Thankfully the demo's on PSN seem to have updated code. I know the framerate is much better. Hey, what do you think about that 32" Sharp Aquos? Decent deal for ~$800? I just need something HD to play my PS3 on... Something as cheap as possible for the moment, but not so cheap that it's worthless. I can't keep playing this on a SDTV.
 
Are the motostorm demos used in stores different from the one you can download at the sony online store? I swear that the vehicles are different than the ones you can select in the demo.
