edit- i got it working,

Just picked up my 60GB today (thanks to a friend who tipped me off at a Best Buy). Had fun playing coop Resistance with some friends and I'm on my way to downloading the Motorstorm demo once I finish this Playstation Store registration.

After that, i'll probably download YDL and mess around with that. Pretty happy with it so far though :)

When's the F@H client due?
Havent heard any specific dates unfortunately.

I thought this was interesting though...

VF5 in February?
http://gamefront.de/
google translation:
Virtua Fighter 5 in February 2007?

04.12.06 - Segas flogging play Virtua Fighter 5 could appear possibly to 08.02.07 in Japan. Thus several Japanese dealers indicate the distribution date as this date.

Sega does not have this date so far yet confirmed, officially indicates one further spring 2007.

Btw guys yesterday I wanted to copy a .mp4 trailer I downloaded from the Playstation store, at around 90% it stopped with an error. Now my USB key (512MB corsair) is read only and I can't do anything to change that. Windows won't let me write anything on it :/
What the hell happened?

I paid 130 euros :/

Assuming you're in Europe, I think it will be 3.5% duty plus your country's VAT rate plus your courier's handling fee. So for example for the UK:

PS3 $599.00
Duty @ 3.5% $20.97
VAT @ 17.5% $108.49
Handling fee $26.60 (varies depending on courier and exchange rate)

Total $755.06 = £383.28 at current exchange rate of $1.97/£

Haha, even with the customs anal rapage it's still a steal compared to the UK price.

Shit =/

A flight to the us costs roughly 350. Oh well, i guess that taking my paid vacations looks like a better option.

Damn. I'd think twice before using any other flash device that I would mind bricking.

My friend says he's having these blue graphical artifacts appear only while browsing the crossbar menu. They go away right when a game or movie is started. Anyone know what this is?

GPU overheating, or VRAM problem.

It certainly looks like some kind of RAM problem. But it sounds really weird that it doesn't occur in games or movies.
Maybe the 96mb of ram allocated for the XMB has an issue?

can't you just format it?

I think the answer to thr question is no but, I thought I'd ask anyway.

If you connect a Wireless Access Point to the 20gb PS3, will it enable Remote Play with the PSP?

I wasn't sure if it was wireless capability that effected this or does the 60gb PS3 have slightly different OS? I thought that if I connected a wireless access point the option might appear on the XMB.

I'm still waiting for my import 20gb PS3.

I got one of these BTW. Works really well on both the PS3 and Xbox 360. With the PS3, it is correctly detected as a USB KB and USB mouse. No mouse support on the 360 obviously.

It's smaller than a laptop KB, and surprisingly ergonomic. It's curved to fit over your legs (sits on your lap nicely when on a chair/sofa) and the trackball/mouse buttons and scrollwheel are in good positions in the upper left and right. Some keys feel a bit stiff at first, the arrow keys are on the narrow side, and the optical trackball is a little rough and sensitive as compared to a mouse, even with the PS3's "slow" pointer setting. Besides Enter, the arrows, ESC, F1 is the only other key which does anything - it brings up the Browser's Toolbar. KB/mouse all work on the store as well, and the KB (arrows/Enter) works with the XMB Sony needs to add more keyboard shortcuts for browser control though.

The USB dongle actually matches the PS3 and sticks out just a little past the front of the console. Packaging is a little cheap, but expected. It's 2.4ghz, and didn't exhibit or cause any interference that I noticed.

It's great to just leave off to the side and quickly grab to send a message, or check out your email or browse.

Seems like a nice alternative to the $100+ bluetooth sets out there. Some 3rd party should make a BT version with the PS3 in mind.

The answer is no - the 20 GB PS3 doesn't even display the Remote Play option on the XMB Network menu. I doubt it's a different OS between the two models, just the same OS detecting which model it's running on.

good news for those that missed on the first deal, this one's even cheaper! only $64.95 w/ google checkout for a 4GB Sandisk Memory Stick Duo Pro. don't sleep on this one especially with the new downloadable PS1 on PSP feature.

no idea when this offer ends, so JUMP ON IT.

Any chance you can send it to the manufacturer for a free replacement?

Or contact Sony for a refund?

:lol

Can´t you change the state of "only read" in computer?, Are you able to access the content of the memory stick?

If all that fails go to your computer shop and ask about it, maybe they can do something.

I've worked on Flash based file systems for an embedded system. USB key's have Flash and a microcontroller that runs code to handle the file system, manage all the banks, etc. to appear like a USB mass storage system. If anything corrupted the Flash device to the point where it's unaccessible, its probably the USB key. The host machine can only read in and write crap, call erases, etc. I don't think it can be blamed for system corruption (unless, of course, it fries the chip somehow with 90 ohm LVDS signals waaaaayyyy out of spec, or more than 5V).

USB keys failing is really not that uncommon and 9/10 the fault of the cheap hardware in the key. I'd look for other people blaming PS3's on munching USB keys before placing blame.

EDIT: Of course, removing or cutting power to a USB key could also cause corruption. If you were to remove the key while it operating on a bank swap or something, that would corrupt data. But, a decent device should be able to recover (but lose some data). Your PS3 might have a crappy regulator going to the 5V USB supply.

quick question about the xmb

you can't create custom folders for the movie and photo tab? if so that kind of sucks,

like for photos if i have a lot of different folders i would like to create my own folders so if i play with the slideshow it only shows those ones and not the ones from the whole month.

I think it might just be the nissan trailer released the other day. (no gameplay footage I think). But I'm downloading it now, i'll see what it is in a few minutes.

i'm praying for 720p blu ray playback and a fix for the bc image quality issues. of course prayers are rarely answered.

Hey, has anyone been able to connect an external HD to your ps3 and actually have it recognized? Whenever I connect my lacie it turns on and a get the loading swirl on the xmb, then nothing comes up, even though i'm sure i've got mpegs and mp3s on there. WTF? It's supposed to recognize all usb mass storage devices, right? Right?

edit: sorry if this has already been addressed
