My 2 cents on this atrocity of a PPV
Let's take it fromt he top shall we?
So Benoit goes from main eventing to curtain jerking in less than a year... fantastic. At least he got the title off of Buckwheat "O-tay" Jordan.
Angle vs Eugene: Decent enough, but they keep forgetting how to use their characters. Eugene was brought in as a wrestling idiot savant who had a counter for everything. Angle slaps on the ankle lock once and it's over.... um ok.
Hardy Vs. Edge... Shawn... stop drinking the Kool-aid on this angle. That's all it is, and it went EXACTLY as I said it would. Edge won(stoppage, same difference) due to dirty tactics to continue the feud. It went exactly the way it was supposed to and just came out sloppy and pissed off the crowd with the WCW-style finish. Yes, the kick to the head looked stiff, but that was the point.
There is nothing for Hardy after his run with Edge and I wouldn't be surprised if they release him again. He's a career mid-carder and nothing more.
Eddie vs Guerrero: Why is it these 2 can have a great match with everyone but each other? This was a ladder matach wrapped in dumb ass premise and blown spots. The psychology just wasn't there for me and I'm glad this stupid-ass story is done.
What's next? Rey mom on a pole match?
Cena vs. Jericho: I knew the result to this already, but Jericho had me believing he could win this despite his leaving. He CARRIED Cena through the whole match and the crowd caught on to it. After that they proceeded to boo Cena and chan for Jericho for the rest of the match. The "Rocky Maiavia" effect is in full force (if youre unsure thats whne the crowd turns on you after being forced down their throats)
JBL vs Batista. Um... yeah. Why are EITHER of these guys pushed? Both of them big oafs who can't seem to string together a decent match. Next.
Hogan vs. Michaels: Ok this match pissed me off to NO END. Michaels is a hell of a worker, quite possibly one of the top 3 best in-ring workers EVER. Hogan... not even in the same ballpark.
Michaels was so handcuffed through the whole thing by Grandpa Hogan and not once did we see Michaels do his thing. What purpose does Hogan winning serve? He's not going to be around and why make Michaels look so damn weak in the process? This match could have been used to springboard HBK as a solid heel into the main event against Cena and carry him through a match or two.
Hell, after tonight Hogan is gone again anyway, why have him win over one of the top heels and a regular worker on your program? Makkes no damn sense, other than stroking the ego of one 51 year-old, washed up legend.
It's like they did everything possible to make Michaels look bad. Hogan did NOTHING in this match, except a nasty blade job. Hogan moves around the ring with the grace of a sedated hippo.
Fuck Hogan, I hate that overbearing asshole. He just needs to go off and rot somewhere. Show your face every once in a great while for the cheap pop. But never, EVVVVVEEER step foot in a match again.
Oh and the handshake.... WHAT THE FUCK!?!?! It made no damn sense to have him do that. He's spent the last 4 weeks running Hogan into the ground and he shakes his hand after the loss? HUH?
At best, I give the show a 6.5 out of 10.
