Official Xbot turn in your jacket thread.....

Turning inn my jacket for MS finally stripping their console of all that useless crap I`ll never need and also making it the most valuable and cheapest launch I`ve seen in Scandinavia?

Don`t think so. I love MS more than ever.

Those seperate HD and wireless adapter prices are a joke, theres no excuses for it, you can get superior laptop hardrives, and wireless routers for about 1/3 of the cost of these accessories.

Those UK price conversions actually seem pretty reasonable however, far better then the previous bullshit we usually get over here. Hope this forces sony not to do a £-$ conversion with PS3. 209 for a brand new console, regardless of lack of accessories is a pretty good deal over here.

Think about all those grandma's that are going to pick one up so they can play on-line poker with thier grandsons.

:lol

PC GAMING IZ TOO EXPENCIVE! CONSUL GAMING IS MUCH CHEEPER!

Sony's PS2 will simply rape the 360 this Fall in sales. $99 with a huge library of $20-$50 games, versus a $399 new system with a small library of $60 games (that don't look much better)

It's going to be really ugly. At least MS should have left the XBox as an option, but they hosed that up as well.

I dont see how this comes as a surprise to anyone considering MS could not afford to take losses in their hardware sector next gen.

Velocity Girl is creating skate parks as we speak. She knows how to make her money back. Striker on the other hand... he's too hardcore for that.

99$ for a next gen 20gb HDD or 99$ for a previous gen 40gb HDD.

or

let's tell everyone we're packing in wireless controllers, ok? and then NOT. so that EVERYONE WHO PRE-ORDERED ONE IS GOING TO BE PISSED AT THE EMPLOYEE AT THE STORE FOR JUST TELLING THE CUSTOMER WHAT THE MS REP TOLD THE STORE.

MS sure knows how to fuck everyone all at once.

To all that think they are getting screwed:

Me?

I am going to be enjoying my new XBox this holiday season.

Remember:

MS does not have a gun to your head. Take it or leave it.

Well, officially my interest just out-rightedly dropped. 99 dollar wireless adopter?
Fuck it. I was going to get 399 one with extra controller, an wireless adopter, and perhaps a couple of games for that matter. Now the whole thing is going to go over 700-800 bucks if I did so.

Not worth it.

Then again... I might swallow it - but boy.. am I angry.

You guys call yourself hardcore gamers! I have spent roughly $10,000 on xbox alone. less than $100 more is not going to hurt me. (especially when you consider the component cables, the headset and the remote.... i'm technically saving money!)

So uh yeah.

I think if you guys are bailing on something this small, you never deserved the jackets in the first place.

How about if we pretend it costs $499, and you send me $100!? In the long run, it wouldn't make much of a difference for you anyway, right? :D

What I find amusing is that someone like you even bothers to PRETEND to give a shit, at this point. As I recall, you never needed a $399 price point as an excuse to hate on the Xbox. You do pretty well on your own. Bad news really does bring them out of the woodwork. Holy shit.
Actually, the original XBox is a great value - but it won't be available anymore. The 360 on the other hand, is becoming more and more of a joke everyday.

To comfort people living in Canada, we paid 449$CAN at Xbox launch in 2001, when our dollar was worth only 0.63 Us dollar. Now with the Canadian dollar at 0.83 US, the 399$US Xbox 360 bundle should retail at about 499$CAN, not a dramatic price raise.

Oh man this is priceless (ha get it!!11). All this bitching. In case you forgot, the PS2 launched for 299.00 and all it had was 1 wired controller, no hdd, and a hell of a lot less power. I remember right around the launch when system would go for 500 or more on ebay. People paying that much are some of the very people on this board I would think. And the launch games are arguably better than what one normally gets out of a launching system. Oblivion, PGR3, both LOOK good so far (who can honestly comment on gameplay yet especially Project NoInGame 3)

I've bought every system, and I'll certainly buy this system.

Compare the price of PS2 peripherals to those of Xbox 360 peripherals. Also, PS2 had BC out of the box for that price as well...

Only if you can find what their prices were like at launch, I mean 8mb Memory cards were like 50 bucks, The ps2 didn't even come with a free fucking memory card. I remember I had to leave my playstation 2 on for over a MONTH cuz I coudln't save GTA3 hahahahaha I was too lazy to go buy the Memory Card. hahaha fuck that was awesome.

Uh, neither does the Xbox 360 Lite.

element posted in the other thread that there's talk of a memory card possibly being included in the lite edition

That's a 64MB right? How much does a 64MB SD card cost?

EDIT: On froogle I can find them for less than $10.

If anyone is turning in their jacket, I wouldn't mind having one.

I had an Xbox this gen, but I never really considered myself an Xbot jacket wearing type-o-guy. I'm quietly impressed by the UK prices. £209 for the core pack, when people see what the machine can do, will be a roaring sucess imo. The limelight is on 360 this Christmas for sure.

What's the point of the silver live subscription in the standard sku when you can't even use it without a mem card or harddrive? Am I missing something?

Maybe this is MS's last ditch effort to get out of the industry. They are trying to make it so that it will be a guaranteed failure so they can say "Hey, we tried but consumers didn't bite."

$35 at launch I think.
And thats for 8mb. The official one is listed at 25 now.
Suddenly the 360 one doesnt look so overpriced :lol

But I still think anyone who buys the Core pack is retarded.

Shhh... talk about shooting oneself in the foot, Microsoft has done just that :lol :lol. There seems to be a huge backlash going on, every message i have looked at peeps are pissed off even at teamxbox. Microsoft has some serious damage control to do.

Is true that you can't access live with the 299 version???

It does when you compare it to what it will be priced against in it's own generation a memory stick pro. You can get a 64MB memory stick pro for less than $20 now. For the same price as the X360 64MB mem card you can get a 128MB Mem stick pro IIRC.

But I still think anyone who buys the Core pack is retarded.

Agreed, pull some of the stuff out of the premium system, keep the HD and drop it to $350.

Well, this is what I thought would be the case. I wonder where that Juice guy is? He should be getting some apologies and perhaps a new tag...something like "Common sense prevails".

MS did sort of mislead people so I can understand the frustration, but the bundle looks to be good value for the money when you compare it to X360 lite. That being said, I'll be waiting for the PS3 pricing to come out before I decide on when I'll be purchasing the X360.

I'll also be picking up more XBoxes shortly as I'm thinking they will soon be in short supply and I really like the capabilites of a modded XBox.

Why? Here in canada, the price difference between the core and premium pack are going to be far more exaggerated. I'm just picking up the core system plus mem card and perhaps the other accessories (if at all, I don't need the other stuff) when the go down in price.

Believe it or not, I'm looking foward to hearing more about the revolution o.O

It really isn't just you. It makes you wonder how much of its wisdom Nintendo was using after all, not chasing the small high-definition base and overloading their console with amazing/whizbang processors. :lol

Memory card prices have always been ridiculous. You can get a 1gb sd card for less than $60 and you can get a 2gb compact flash card for about the same price.

The price of the console itself isn't that bad. I'm definitely going with the $399 version. However, the accessory prices are quite unreal. I'm real interested in seeing what Sony will announce in regards to their pricing of the PS3 and it's accessories.

The boat already had a leak and M$ just quit bailing out the water.

I never expected a launch package with all the bells-and-whistles to be anything less than $399, so I'm not surprised at all.

That being said, I won't buy it at launch (I never do with any system).

Crap - just reading through some Oblivion dev quotes got me to put my fucking jacket back on.

My PC sucks ass and the 360 will bring me Elder Scrolls.

That's enough to make me eat crow. $399.99 and one up the ass for me.

Maybe Juice was really Peter Moore.

so in comparison now the $400 sku is one hell of a freaking deal. i feel much better at least knowing the included headet is wireless.

does all this suck? yep. will it make a difference in the long run? i dont think it will. overreaction like usual.

What I'd prefer to see with the HD situation for both companies would be selling an HD adapter for like $15-20, and allowing us to use any 2.5" HDD we can find on the net. Some will get 7200rpm drives, some will get big 5400rpm drives. I have an extra 30GB drive sitting around from when I added a 60GB Hitachi 7200rpm drive. So that would be perfect for me. But charging $100 MSRP is just going too far. The MSRP list makes buying 360 periphs look prohibitive. I mean, this is taking the razors and razor blades thing too far. There's already a 33% hike in the system price itself. To get it wireless with a couple of games (not even another controller) is another $200 on top of that. Even dropping the wireless adapter, you're still paying a fortune for periphs here. And game prices are sure to be high. They least they could do is make a lot of the stuff non-proprietary. Are they really losing that much on the hardware that they need to gouge on periphs? PEACE.

It is more like MS is gouging consumers until the PS3 is out. I bet we see a price cut across the board once the PLAYSTATION 3 is released, from hardware to accessories.

Wasn't this the same board that pointed out how MS needed to do something because they were losing money on every Xbox sold?

How did you people expect to get all of that stuff for $299?

The Bitching never ends on GAF.

Yeah but it seems like MS has to go to one extreme or the other. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground.
