Basically waves of enemies come in from the edges of the screen. You control a central turret of sorts. To kill the enemies you hit the button combos over their heads (like X, B or whatever) and hit the trigger. When you kill an enemy the shot will bounce to any other enemies near that one allowing some comboing. The longer you last the more enemies come and bigger enemies come with more complex button combos.

Yeah I'd gave Marsho & blast and I really liked its "button combo" take on the whole shoot everything and survive game, its like a wierd mix of boom boom and Geo Wars.

Takes a while to ramp up but once it does MAN!

Sounds to me like somethin' needs its own thread, wouldn't you say?

:D

Yeah, who'd have thought it from Pinball FX :D But it could not be more ONer!

man XBLA really is changing the games I'm sending time with alot now, last gen I would have never picked this stuff up & would have totaly missed out.

Eets is a lot of fun. Great puzzle game, reminds me of The Incredible Machine a bit. I went ahead and bought a 5000 point block today in anticipation of all the nice stuff coming up. Never bought that many points at once before. There should be bulk discounts, man! Buy 5000, get 1000 free or sumptin'.

doesn't look colorblind friendly to me (but I'm not colorblind)

Well, ideally there would be patterns in the gems or whatever (ala puzzle quest), but in that screen shot, I can tell the difference between the green and yellow gem. I could never do that in the arcade. I'll download the trial version when available to see what I can see. I loved sword fighting in Puzzle Pirates, and that was based on Puzzle Fighter, so presumably, I'd love that too...

Totally awesome that they are looking into a real solution though.

Still haven't gotten to try Eet's yet, even though it sounds like it's right up my alley being like The Incredible Machine and all - but I played Pinball FX for about 30 minutes and I was really impressed with the 3D - very high quality! From the logo, I really thought that it was gonna look 3D Mini Golf-ish... but I was pleasantly surprised!

Definitely will buy later on, since I'm a little too busy to buy it now...

I like Eets and its art style reminds me of Alien Hominid in a way, down to the cute little alien (obviously). Haven't played it much yet, so the only thing that 'bothers' me right now, is the fact that Marsho Madness can't be played online. Other than that, quirky game.

Stop playing Gears of War then! You've been on it for hours on end! :p

so is pinball worth $10?

Mmmmmmm. It's good pinball for sure, but the answer to that question depends on how much you like pinball in the first place. If you're not a fairly big pins fan, I'd save your $10.

For those curious. Sales based on the leaderboards as of this moment. These are most of the more recent releases. SOTN, Alien Hominid, and Luxor 2 are difficult to determine because of how their specific leaderboards work.

TMNT- 228,592
Worms- 140,644
Boom Boom Rocket- 40,784
Jetpac- 34,124
3d Golf- 30,000 plus (to even register for the leaderboard, you have to complete 18 holes, so probably a good bit more)
Pinball- 13,995
Gyruss- 8597
Eets- 1667 :(

Some of the big guns

Geometry wars- 434,621
Doom- 154,280
Uno- 483,591
Marble Blast- 216,651
Contra- 176,223

If anyone is curious about a specific game let me know.

Just based on my friends list. Over 50,000 people have defeated the first castle in SOTN.

This is a true story-

I was looking forward to Pinball FX, and was happy to see it released. Then, right before I left work, I saw the 6.1 score that Gamespot gave it, and they cited bad ball physics as a big problem in the summary. I was pretty disappointed to read this, but downloaded it to try it out when I got home anyways. I played for about 20 minutes, and really liked the layout of the tables, and actually loved the physics on the ball. It really had weight to it.

I wondered to myself, what was Gamespot thinking? Then one thought came to my mind: Gerstmann. Checked out the actual review... and there it was:

By Jeff Gerstmann, GameSpot

I actually laughed out loud.

Why is this clueless dip still employed by that otherwise excellent site? He has the worst game sense and taste of any reviewer I've ever read in the past 25 years.

Anyhow, disregard the Gerstmann review. If you like pinball, you're going to love this game.

I agree that the ball physics are excellent in this game, with the exception of the occasional excessive spinning the review mentions. It doesn't noticeably affect ball movement though, so it's not a big deal for me. The reviewer has some valid complaints, but in the end even the valid ones are just minor quibbles. I'd give the game an 8-8.5ish, maybe a bit higher for pinball enthusiasts.

The fact that pinball game is getting more attention then Eets is one of the saddest things I've ever seen.

Yea the pinball game is fun, but Eets is brilliant.

I'll take the former any day. Besides, Eets is just a port.

the pinball game is what live arcade is all about. Eets is a different sort of animal altogether. I'd rather play a game like Eets on my PC.

I'm not really a fan of video pinball but I gotta say that Pinball FX is pretty darn good. I've read from a few people before it was released (and now after) that the physics were off but the ball physics seem pretty spot on to me....not really sure how people could complain about it to be honest and I own a Williams Whirlwind and a Gottlieb Polo machine so it's not like I don't have any experience with this stuff.

They're both great games, one just lends itself better to jokes about balls.

Pinball FX is freaking great. After this review I am not going to take Gamespot seriously ever again. Bad sound effects? More like bad ear.

Eets is really good value for the money. I played it for a few hours and thought I had come to the end... only to realize I had about 60 more levels to beat :p

I just put some time into the pinball demo and agree that the physics are pretty good. I have seen a few unnatural things but nothing major. The perspective makes the ball seem too large when its at the bottom of the table. The lighting on the ball is annoying and should be toned down. Actually I would have liked to have seen better table lighting but What can you expect from a $10 game? My biggest complaint is the lack of a slight rumble from the flippers. YOU NEED TO FEEL THAT! Really hurts the game. Maybe they could patch it.

I also tried eets. Im in the minority here but I HATE the art style. It reminds me of a lot of cartoons today. The edgy style just grates on me . I may go back and actually try to play it later.

Edit: How are the achievements in the Pinball FX? Seems like the two should go together like peanut butter and chocolate =)

How many GOOD puzzle games do we see these days that do not involve matching falling blocks/jewels/letters/numbers/bombs/whatever? Like slim to none. It used to be a very prominent genre with stuff like Lemmings, Incredible Machine, The Lost Vikings, etc all pushing it forward; but these days we get nothing. So Eets is a freaking awesome breath of fresh air. I love these types of games and want to see more, therefore you will all buy it, make it a ton of money, and thus more will follow.

Failure to comply will result in stiff penalties.

Playing the Eets demo reminded me a lot of the Loco Roco House puzzle levels, except you have to press a button in order to do an action. Stylistically it's okay, though I'm getting sick of a lot of these games having a really dull and goofy look to them [see: Cloning Clyde]. I will probably wait it out for The Incredible Machine - I do hope it keeps with it's original style and doesn't go all goofy :|

Pinball is okay, but the demo board just seems really boring. I never played a lot of pinball, but half the interest was them being based off an upcoming movie or franchise and hearing those beeps and sound effects come out of the speakers. Maybe I've just been spoilt by Metroid Prime Pinball, which is all kinds of awesome :|

Eets is really great. Just like when I played Cloning Clyde for the first time, I felt like this is something totally worth a buy and great stuff...except Eets is >>>> CC.
