Sensible World of Soccer aiming for "late November" release;

Eurogamer: SWOS was due to be released on Xbox Live in July, then August, and now we've heard it has been pushed back into 2008. Can you confirm this?

Jim Brown: We are currently targeting a release at the end of November. Of course this is all subject to passing the usual internal and Microsoft submissions.

About time too.

I wont believe SWOS is going to be released until I see it on my 360. Actually I still won't believe it until it's on my 360, played to death, forgotten about, and then dug up 10 years from now when we do the lttp thread.

Latest XBLA list from Major Nelson:

Top Arcade Titles (Full Versions)
1 Battlestar Galactica
2 Puzzle Quest
3 Bomberman LIVE
4 Mutant Storm Empire
5 EXIT
6 Sonic The Hedgehog 2
7 Every Extend Extra Extreme
8 Tetris Splash
9 LUMINES LIVE!
10 TMNT 1989 Arcade

There's a promotion now in Europe. When you know someone who's bought a 360 recently and you act as a referrer who 'persuaded' him to get one, you both get 10 free arcade games. For free! I've found someone and the games should be mine. Only drawback: you can't choose. Here are the 10 games (of which I already own Sonic).

Sensible World of Soccer
Sonic 1
SF II: Hyper Fighting
Bomberman Live
Marble Blast Ultra
Spyglass Board games
Small Arms
3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures
Assault Heroes
Zuma Deluxe

So I take it Bomberman Live is worth it alone right? Or are there other ones that are okay?

I'm annoyed I paid for games like Small Arms and Minigolf, but for the grand total of free...why even bother caring about the quality?

Because knowing if there's something actually worth playing can be pretty useful.

Edit: Ok, I just went to xbox.nl and it had the offer.

TeamXbox Switchball Review

All in all, Switchball is certainly one of the best puzzles games on XBLA, and is definitely the best, um, ball-based puzzle game of all-time. It’s a great looking game, offering a deep single-player mode and plenty of multiplayer options. It’s a great addition to anyone Xbox Live Arcade library, and a must-have for fans of the genre. We can only hope that Sierra Online keeps the Switchball content rolling our way with stuff like new tracks and multiplayer maps. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go back to playing with my balls!

9.4/10! Holy shit.

Okay, has anyone of you guys in Europe bought a 360 on or after October 15? If so, then we can arrange something to get those free games :P

I'm from Spain and have bought a 360 two days ago, how does this works?

I can't seem to find the relevant page on the Spanish site :(

The forms do say it should be valid in Spain though.

Edit: There's an article on Todos Juegos about it, but I'm not sure when it was posted.

They link to a form on their own site, but it might be invalid/outdated/not official:

Plus they have different dates for the promotion (Nov1-Jan29)

I've never really been interested in the arcade, but I got 1600 points recently, 800 of which went to SOTN. What should I buy with the remaining 800? I liked the trials for PoP Classic, Geometry Wars, Pacman CE, Lumines, and Carcassonne a lot, but any other suggestions would be helpful :)

Meh, Marble Blast is better. Though Switchball is good too.

Pacman CE would be my first choice - but I'm a huge (Ms.)Pacman fan and was blown away by how they successfully took the original and reinvented it with new game modes, strategies, and a shiny coat of HD paint. There are a few game variations, but the real meat on this one is in the competitive play. So unless you know of a few people actively playing, or like competiting with leaderboards, you may want to pass. Tough call, this is a severely underrated game in my book.

Prince of Persia was also really good, but I never played the original so it was awesome to finally play what everyones been gushing over for such a long time. Pretty amazing game although it's a bit short, once I finished it I never touched it again. Worth a $10 playthrough though.

You might also want to check out EXIT, it's sort of similiar, but the amount of gaming packed in there eclipses PoP (over 200 levels?). I played the PSP version and had a blast. Also make sure you check out Bomberman Live, a great sequel to one of the best multiplayer experiences in gaming history.

Super Puzzle Fighter HD or Bomberman or Catan would be my votes.

Well, it's a time attack game now more than ever. (Even though they kinda fucked up the leaderboards in that aspect.)

Also, the game kinda spoiled me forever. The way you can smoothly link moves before the previous animation ends to create a naturally and beautifully flowing chain of moves has me frustrated that pretty much no other game lets you do that.

Awesome purchase. Hope the same team are doing PoP2.

Pacman CE, no doubt. Go for it.

PoP Classic is fun but can feel too short unless you're playing for scores or try the survivor challenge (complete the game without dying).

Geometry Wars is overhyped in my opinion. It's a fun game but it feels very limiting, it has only one mode which gets impossibly difficult too soon. So I don't think it's worthwhile considering it doesn't offer that much playtime.

Carcasassone is a cakewalk when played against the AI (even at highest difficulty), but a ton of fun if you can play with friends. Although you will have to pay a little extra to get expansions to give the game more depth.

Lumines is a really great puzzle game. You'll find a lot of playtime if you like playing for scores or playing against friends (offline friends that is, the netcode for this game is awful). It also has a very fun mission/puzzle mode, but you'll have to pay extra to access that.

Some other games I'd recommend you didn't mention:

Puzzle Quest is a fun puzzle/rpg game which will last you a VERY long time. It can be repetitive, but at least you get a lot of playtime for your money

Marble Blast Ultra is a fun actiony/puzzle game. Especially fun if you enjoy playing for scores.

Assault Heroes is the best 2D topdown shoot'em'up game I've ever played. Definitely recommended if you have a friend to play it with.

Exit is a really fun puzzle game, definitely recommended if you prefer games which has a stronger emphasis on mindpuzzles instead of reflexes. Although you might dislike the slow animations, and the annoying nagging of the people you save.

Not released before next week but Switchball is definitely worth it. I tried the PC version and it's a lot of fun. Similar to Marble Blast Ultra only more puzzle based.

Can you give me a more detailed impression of Switchball compared to Marble Blast Ultra? I'm a big fan of MBU and I tried the PC version of Switchball which seems very promising, but I'm curious how the 360 version is.

Do you simply prefer the general gameplay of MBU, or is there something really flawed about Switchball which makes it inferior?

Edit: Regarding Assault Heroes, note that I said 2D topdown shoot'em'up (which is pretty specific). So within that subgenre I think it's the best one I've played, if you've got a better example I'd love to hear it.
