Fez on XBLA is looking pretty likely. Look at the button

It's been quite some time since we've had any sort of substantial news on the Fez front, but if a screen and (somewhat vague) hint on developer Polytron's website is to be trusted, it looks like we should hear "something wonderful" in the near future.

Posting just the image you see above and the headline, "SOMETHING AWESOME THIS WAY COMES," the 2008 Independent Games Festival winner (in "Excellence in Visual Art") clearly intends (at the very least) rampant speculation over the inclusion of a tiny green "A" -- like a certain console's controller button you may know -- in the lower right of the massive, hilariously mistranslated, text box. We've put in word to both Polytron and Microsoft for word on this and will let you know if and when we hear something back.

It's $20 effing dollars? There is absolutely no way... Not on God's green Earth would I ever think of spending that much on a downloadable movie tie-in game unless it was stunningly well done. And I have every single XBLA game to date. This is definitely the first one I'm not picking up, what a ridiculous price gouge. I hope it sells like crap so I can buy it at a lower price and have a complete collection still but I guess this is as good a time as any to break the streak. See you later Watchmen.

Thank you for not making me feel so bad about buying Vigilante 8. ;)

Seriously, though, I went a few months without playing games and have been trying to catch up on releases lately, so I actually just bought it without even trying the demo. I had been anticipating it for so long, and didn't hear about the backlash when it released, so I just couldn't even imagine that Isopod would fuck up so badly. But man oh man, this game is absolutely terrible. These are easily the worst controls that I've had the displeasure of experiencing this generation; I know the original was floaty and arcade-y, but combined with the glitchiness, this is bordering on the verge of unplayable to me. It only took about a half-hour of play before deciding that I could never, ever play this piece of shit again. Just one of the most frustrating, disappointing gaming experiences I've had in a while. No more blind XBLA buys for me, obviously!

I was browsing the community games section and came across such titles as "Fart" and "Barf" or something like that.

Seriously?

Starting March 18th, we’re kicking off the Days of Arcade promotion. Much like the Summer of Arcade last year, (but bigger) the Arcade team has lined up six-weeks of blockbuster titles :

The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai
Flock
Hasbro Family Game Night
Lode Runner
Outrun Online Arcade
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
UNO Rush

First out of the gate on March 18th is Hasbro Family Game Night. Following that, I’ll post each Monday what that weeks Arcade release will be.

As you can see, that we’ve got seven titles..for a six-week promotion. The Arcade team decided they’re going to surprise you one week when they double up the fun.

THey kicked you out for posting the vids? :(

No, I didn't post the videos onto youtube. I didn't get in trouble for leaking (which I don't do). But the people who were leak happy, including the Sega Classics and Outrun videos, and even Caspel on here kind of ruined it for everyone now. That's all I'll say.

If Microsoft is going to be mad at anyone it is the Euro Jurnos, I swear they regard NDAs as mere suggestions rather then any sort of contract, goodness knows how much game information has leaked over the years.

so the days of arcade thing means that peggle must be hitting next wednesday... right?

That would make sense, though why Microsoft isn't including Peggle into the Days of Arcade is beyond me.

indeed.

seems like the people in charge of xbla are going to keep on with their trend of making little sense :)

This week is this weird, suddenly announced NCAA Basketball MME game apparently, though I've not seen anything yet outside of the GameSpot announcement to even show it's coming out. It's not been rated by the ESRB, not shown up on Xbox.com, nothing. It's weird.

Isn't there a sort of new mode for FIFA too ?

Still, how do you not include Peggle, a bigger star with more drawing power then 3/4 of the games on that list, Popcap certainly isn't shy in promoting March is Peggle Month.

PopCap Kicks Off 'Peggle(TM) Fever' With Pronounced Period of Peg-Popping Pervasiveness

Massive New Outbreak of Cross-Over Cult Hit Begins Today on Nintendo DS; Additional Strains Coming Soon to iPhone, Micosoft's Xbox 360 and XBLA, and More; Art Contest Launched

SEATTLE, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- PopCap Games, the leading developer and publisher of casual games, today announced a three-month period of pure Peggle(TM) pleasure, with the arrival of the company's cult video game hit on a host of new platforms, in each case customized for the device or service. Peggle Dual Shot, the much-anticipated, platform-optimized adaptation of Peggle becomes available today for Nintendo DS (US$29.95) and later this month Peggle will arrive on iPhone and Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) service. In April, Peggle Nights will arrive on retail shelves. Peggle will also be available next month for Xbox 360 as part of PopCap(R) Arcade Volume 2. And in May PopCap will release Peggle for smartphones running Google's Android(C) operating system. Further, PopCap announced the availability today of a new, free, online bonus level pack for Peggle Nights, and unveiled a unique Peggle-based art contest.

To celebrate this ultra-extreme occasion, PopCap is holding a three-month long "Peggle Fever" celebration at PopCap.com featuring daily giveaways of games and merchandise, free access to the new bonus level pack for Peggle Nights, and more. Peggle Fever also features a first-of-its-kind Peggle art contest, with the grand prize winners receiving all-expense paid trips to PopCap's Seattle headquarters as well as having their creations included in a future installment in the Peggle series. More details of the contest, which begins today and runs until June 3, 2009, are at www.popcap.com/promos/peggleart.

Combined with Peggle's existing availability on PC, Mac, iPod, mobile phones and the Web, the new adaptations arriving over the next 90 days will make Peggle one of the most widely available casual games ever. Not to mention one of the most "customized," as PopCap co-founder and Chief Creative Officer Jason Kapalka explains: "Peggle is a pretty special little game, and it deserves all the attention to detail and high touch polish we've given it. We've gone beyond just porting Peggle and have really opened up new territory for the game with the iPhone's input and control mechanisms and by partnering with Q Entertainment on the development of Peggle Dual Shot for Nintendo DS. Add to that the cool multiplayer modes in the Xbox 360 and XBLA versions, and these are really adaptations of the game designed to tap the unique aspects of each respective device and service. It's been really cool to see how the game has evolved and expanded."

Separate press releases detailing the launch of Peggle Dual Shot and the art contest were issued today. To date, Peggle and Peggle Nights combined have been downloaded more than 45 million times - yet the games remain modest commercial successes by PopCap standards. Nevertheless, the Peggle titles are the most lauded casual game series in the last two years and have garnered nearly 100 rave reviews, with a devoted cult following that encompasses a surprisingly wide range of people. From great-grandmothers to seriously hardcore gamers including the editorial staffs of several leading video gaming magazines, Peggle has fans of every imaginable type.

Fable 2 Pub Games wasn't part of the lineup either, and probably ended up doing far better than the other game that week, Bionic Commando Rearmed, regardless on whether it was paid or not, or even good.

Actually, Fable 2 Pub Games finished a mere 2 slots above Bionic Commando Rearmed, plus Pub Games had its own promotion what with being a free pre-order.

It might be because Peggle is on every other platform on earth, so MSFT isn't making a big deal.. and then also, Peggle is such a big IP that MSFT definitely doesn't need to make a big deal - it does that on it's own.

Capcom's gotta start hyping up Flock more. You did okay with the Giant Bomb Rum-fest for Age Of Booty but you've got to start doing more for Flock to get the name out there! It's been a while since we've heard anything, really.

Perhaps but the thing is Microsoft seems to be touting that beginning with Hasbro Family Game Night that the Days of Arcade are the next seven releases, but then again the scheduling of this new stable has not been finalized. In fact, now that I think about it, this is pretty big flaw with the Days of Arcade, release dates are not laid out like they were with Summer of Arcade, that is rather odd.

So I just bought 2,000 Microsoft points.

Want to get some new games, preferably ones which will never, ever release on PSN.

Already have:

-Assault Heroes
-Banjo Kazooie
-Bomberman Live
-Braid
-Contra
-Doom
-Fatal Fury Special
-Geometry Wars
-Jetpac Refueled
-Joust
-Marble Blast Ultra
-Ms. Pac Man
-N+
-Portal: Still Alive
-Puzzle Arcade
-Sonic the Hedgehog 2
-Soulcalibur
-Spyglass Board Games
-Street Fighter 2 HF (and I have HD remix for PSN)
-Switchball
-UNO

Looking into:

-The Maw (loved the demo)
-Rez HD
-Pinball FX
-Sensible World of Soccer
-Castle Crashers
-Catan
-Carcassonne

I'm not particularly thrilled with the "Days of XBLA" games that are coming, but I'll wait if none of the above sound good.

I would go with the three C's at the end of your list. All have good replay value and good online play and communities.

Not on your list:

Geometry Wars 2
Age of Booty
Castlevania SOTN
Puzzle Quest
Poker Smash
Kingdom for Keflings
Heavy Weapon
Roogoo

Edit: As for the other games you are interested in.

The Maw: A fun and charming game that is worth a playthrough, but at 3 to 4 hours of length, with little to no replay value, I would recommend it but there are a dozen games you have not played that I would put before it.

Rez HD: If you love Rez then there is nothing wrong with this version. I just find the gameplay to be sub-par, while the visuals and music are very interesting. It is one of those games that I prefer to experience watching someone else play over putting myself through the paces, and that is not a ringing endorsement.

Pinball FX: Was great fun for the first couple weeks when a bunch of GAF members were competing for high scores. I still find myself coming back to it every month or so for a short playing session. Great for if you have friends over and want to play a game with a minimal amount of effort.

Sensible World of Soccer: My American brain was dumbfounded after the ten minutes I spent with this having heard all the hype. Keep in mind that I did not spend enough time with the game to even learn the basic mechanics, but it was not at all what I expected.

xbox360 achievents.org claims theres even more games released during the time frame. Including The Square Tower Defense game so who knows...

Speevy, if you even remotely enjoyed Geometry Wars, the sequel is a must-buy. The new modes add a LOT to the game. My favorite XBLA title by far.

It's not so much that I don't enjoy Geometry Wars, but like racing games, I become disinterested in traditional shooters very quickly.

Though I have no doubt that Geometry Wars 2 is best in its class.

What works about GW2 is that it is very leaderboard based, and the six different game modes are very different experiences that are very short in length unlike the epic nature of a high scoring game with the original. It does the whole "just one more game" thing better then any other on Live Arcade.

Looks like the guy has taken down those youtube leak videos. His Blog says he won't be doing it anymore.

(Incidentily, anyone capture the Lode Runner video? :))

Got my latest issue of OXM in the mail.

The disc has the trial version of UNO Rush. Fast paced and fun.

Peggle Deluxe scores 9.5 and they have the price listed at 800 pts

CellFactor:Psychokinetic Wars scores 6.5 and is listed at 1200

Puzzle Quest:Galactrix scores 8.0 and is listed at 1600

Crystal Defenders? I've never even heard of it, any info?

"Yay!" for Peggle, though.

Does The Maw DLC have a new achievement?

CRYSTAL DEFENDERS!! Finally a tower defense game!

Crystal Defenders is a tower defense game by Square Enix, it looks kinda Final Fantasy-ish

And Peggle too, wow wow

I might have to get both.

Finally I'll get to buy this gaming crack...
