Housemarque
Past: Stardust, Transworld Snowboarding
Future: Super Stardust HD, unnamed XBLA sports title, unnamed PSP action game
Housemarque has had a few lean and mean years after its Atari-published Transworld Snowboarding came out in 2002, but the team made a comeback last year with the highly rated PlayStation Network title Super Stardust HD. Two Stardust expansion packs are in works and both will be released before the summer. The packs will add new single and multiplayer modes. Housemarque is also working on both an original XBLA sports game, due out this summer and a PSP game.

Week of March 25th

Hey kids! Looks like the HTF FALSE ALARM game is going to be available for purchase online on April 21st! We are waiting on final confirmation from SEGA and should have the exact date within the next week. The game has gotten great pre-reviews and we think you’ll really enjoy navigating all the characters through the various levels. It’s no easy task… but you even have fun if you lose… isn’t it great to see all the crazy, bloody deaths??? Please keep watching the site for details and have your credit card ready for online purchase soon! Questions? Contact us at feedback@mondomedia.com. Thank you!

Yeah guess she is not aware that XBLA games only release on Wednesdays but seems like that Happy Tree Friends game will be one of the April releases at least.

I need some help and thought I would ask GAF first.

I bought SoRII when it came out on XBLA. Got a couple achievements but really hadn't touched it since. Just now, I felt like playing it again and it's telling me to unlock the full game. WTF? So I went back and downloaded it again and the screen even told me that I have already downloaded the game and if I would like to download it again...

I did and it keeps telling me I need to unlock the damn game.

Anyone run into a situation like this and know how to fix it?

Are you using a different 360 from the one you purchased SoR2 on?

I don't know/can't remember. I had a pro but got the Halo edition when that came out. Did the game come out before September 16 2007?

yes, I am connected to live. I just played Yaris and got some random ass achievement....

I feel so dirty now that I've played that game.

also, I had forgotten how awesome Heavy Weapon is

Did they confirm Ikaruga World-wide on April 9?

I haven't heard anything beyond that one leak on the Japanese Xbox site. Fingers are crossed, though.

Really seems like MS is on the family-friendly track on XBLA lately.

It's a bug on Sega games I had the same issue with Sonic when I moved to my 2nd 360. You must have changed system as well.

The way to "solve" this problem is to delete the game before re-download it. If you try just to download the game again you will still have the problem. So, delete, download, and the full game is unlock when you are online (offline still reverts to demo mode as any other XBLA game).

Wow, that was an awful debut for TiQal, especially since it had the whole week all to itself. Lowest ever on XBLA?

Anyone else seen that US Dashboard is promoting Battlestar Galactica on XBLA for 400pts on April 5th?

I believe that is when the new season is going to debut, still, 400 points is too much for that piece of shit.

No, no, TiQal still charted into the top 10, I have seen games not even do that.

http://www.xblah.net/2008/04/final-fight-xbla-weve-discussed-it-its.html

Q: Final Fight? On XBLA / PSN?
A: We've discussed it, it's in the maybe column. It's is something that we (Capcom USA) own, but it's coming in the shadow of Final Fight Streetwise, so it may need to rest a little longer before we do that.

They also discuss the rating for the upcoming Bionic Commando Rearmed - it's looking likely that it'll get an M!

"Master D's Head HAS to explode, it's not 8-bit pixels anymore. Therefore, yes, 10 seconds of the game there is one over-the-top violent scene, and that's giving us an M rating!"

Sounds like the problem I have with Double Dragon. I have migrated my account a few times but it seems DD is the only one with problems(don't have SoRII). Only workaround I have found is to redownload it everytime I start it up.

Just tried deleting it from memory and redownloading....didnt fix it.

Fair enough, IMO... I'm wondering if this was a matter of fact quote or they were incredulous about it... no reason for the latter.

I don't doubt there are games that somehow manage a T rating with similar stuff, but I think that speaks more to the unevenness of the ESRB than any issue with the decision to likely rate Bionic Commando an M.

Mr Driller. is up, 50 MB.
Oh and by the way, it has no offline multiplayer. Seriously, WTF Scamco ? 4-player battles were one of the best features in Drill Land.

GameTrailers put up a trailer of (what I assume is) the latest table for Pinball FX. Should be available on the Marketplace now, I reckon.

Well, gotta have some special feature to sell for their next XBLA game of Dig Dug / Mr. Driller. Amirite folks!?

TeamXbox previews Buku Sudoku

http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1916/Buku-Sudoku/p1/

You can select a particular theme from among the ones provided, which sets your puzzle in a different environment. These include an office-like setting with graph paper as the playfield and a scratchy sort of font for the numbers, to the “Underground Hardware” setting, which is more like playing on an electronics workbench in the basement, where the game looks like it’s being displayed on a green-screened monochrome monitor.

Unlike the normal paper sudoku—unless you have nosy people around you—Buku Sudoku is also set up to support multiplayer for up to four puzzle solvers, either on the same game system, over Xbox Live or a mix of them both.

And achievement hounds will be happy to know that Buku Sudoku comes with the standard mix of goals, with a dozen milestones that need to be hit in order to rack up the full 200 points that are offered. The list is included at the end of the preview, though with the game not being final, you should realize that they might not match what’s in the game when it comes out.

The game’s “helpers” can make solving the puzzle easier.

Finally, it’s clear that the option exists for Merscom to add new puzzle packs and themes that can be purchased and installed, much like other XBLA titles have done. Surely, we’ll get more information on those additions after the game releases. Buku Sudoku is expected to hit Marketplace sometime this spring. If you’re a sudoku fan, put away your pencil sharpener and get your controller—or dance pad—warmed up, because you’ll have hours of entertainment ahead of you on your Xbox 360.

It's coming in the shadow of Final Fight Streetwise
What exactly does this mean?

Final Fight on XBLA/PSN should be an automatic YES and not a fucking "maybe."

Final Fight sucks. It doesn't deserve to have a single iota of thought given towards it unless HD iterations of Megaman, Strider, Gun.Smoke, Black Tiger, Saturday Night Slam Masters, Ghouls & Ghosts, and like a billion other far superior Capcom games are finished, and they're just really reaching for anything else to remake.

Wow, even if the XBLA game sucks, its existence is redeemed because it led to this.

AWESOME!!
IAWTP.

Pinball + Captain Peachfuzz = Rocksauce.

I hope we see more licensed tables, it fits well considering pretty much every table from the late 80's onward has been tied into something.

In fact, this sort of got me to thinking... for anyone looking to do advergames for their product, commissioning a Pinball FX table from Zen would be an infinitely better solution than building an unproven game concept from the ground up (possibly less expensive, too). Pinball's pretty hard to screw up, even 'bad' tables are generally enjoyable for a game or two... Which is a lot more than can be said for trash like Yaris.

Downloading now!! I wish they had the license to Attack from Mars! in LOVED that game along with the Star Wars: Episode One pinball games!
